    Love a good confirmation video! 😁 Got a set of Nüobells for my home gym about 2 months ago. Been super pleased with them, great value and extremely easy to live with. I don't throw my dumbbells around, never have as I love to savour the excentric, and so durability won't be an issue at all. Anyway awesome video! Your content has been and still is super helpful in setting up my home gym!

    The Ironmaster Dumbbells are the best of the bunch. I bought the 45 lbs set with the Micro Plate Kit. The Ironmaster stand however, is not a quality stand and the PRO stand is expensive. I ordered the H-6979 Height Adjustable Machine Table (24” x 18”) from Uline with the H-6862 Lockable 4” Casters. It’s perfect for storing a set of dumbbells, plates and accessories. The table rolls smoothly and it can handle 500 lbs with the casters or 1500 lbs without the casters. I bought a set of Gorilla Grip silicone mats from Amazon to protect the table and dumbbells from scratches. The setup looks awesome in my gym.

    Iron Master definitely the best value. I bought the 70 pound set withe the 50lb upgrade (120 total) years ago and they are still going strong. Also much more durable than the others. I'm surprised the first poster's stand wasn't good; mine is rock solid.

    Love my Ironmasters. Have the Pro stand and 3 sets on there. You can just super set with multiple dumbbells and have heavy sets or light sets ready to go, and if you want a thick handle they have that option too. Their kettlebell handles with it are a nice pair of additions as well.

    Trulap > Nuobells - stronger plates that are less likely to break, more increments as they go up 1.5 kgs at a time, higher max weight...these advantages trump the areas Nuobells are better at.

  • @Fluster

    @Fluster

    @@Crabguts I picked it because of the ease of use, compact space and its familiarity to a regular dumbbell. Additionally, because I live in Hong Kong, Nuobells are one of the few options that are easily available to purchase online. I have had them for about a month now and have had no issues whatsoever. It feels good, the quick-changing mechanism is snappy and nice, and it takes up very little space. But, when I shake it or move it, it does make some clanging noises which I am still a bit scared of. I think this is probably normal, but I am still a bit sketched and paranoid about doing exercises like overhead triceps extensions because I am scared of the plates falling. This is probably just me, and it is most likely secure. Other than that’s it’s been perfect. I am happy to answer questions if you have them.

    I’ve had ironmasters since 2013 and have used them at least several times a week since. They’ve been accidentally dropped on bare concrete, beat to absolute shit, and yet they are indestructible. The paint might be chipped on all of the plates, and oh man are the handles rusty, but they get the job done as well as they did a decade ago.

    Ironmaster is the only choice for people who are actually strong (80lbs are warmup sets), and who actually use their gear. You will inevitably drop or set down a dumbbell harder than an angel fart, which breaks the Nuobells. What good is ultra fast adjustment when it's sitting in the corner broken?

    I have the 175s and I love them too. They are insanely big when you get above 130ish, but if you’re tall and big they are not too bad. My only gripe is the stand. I wish the had a walkthrough stand. It is tough grabbing the higher weight all hunched over. On the plus side I 12.5-175 for $1700. No better value out there if you lift heavy.

    I've had Powerblocks for almost 5 years and they've been amazing, the speed you can adjust is perfect. I honestly am so used to the square shape, and cage style it has never been an issue. Sometimes the square shape actually helps because they don't roll and you can get great range of motion when lifting from the ground. I have the originals which don't have a metal handle and plastic adjuster, amazingly it hasn't degraded at all, the magnet, bungee even have never failed.

I find the dumbell plates dont rattle and swing to a distracting degree. The tactile texture of Trulap is great, the knurling is great, the click of changing weights is lovely, and when I pull the dumbells out, the steel on steel slide of the plates feels like I'm drawing a sword !❤ Bought them on Black Friday for $80 ofd and took 6-8weeks to recieve them

    I bought Ironmasters in October and do not regret it. I think the only way they lose is, as you mentioned, you are supersetting AND need to adjust weights for that specific superset. Otherwise you can do the adjusting during your rest time anyway. Plus you can expand the set and buy other attachments/accessories (weight vest, straight bar, EZ bar, etc.).

    I got around this by buying hex dumbbells up to 50lbs (5lb increments), plus IronMaster with the heavy handle kit. Dumbbells start getting big and expensive after 50lbs, so I dodge that. But, I have all of the lighter weights available for supersets or shorter rest periods. Wife also appreciates it. I leave the IronMasters loaded at 55lbs. I use them for everything heavier. The heavy handle kit also makes these feel better as it shortens the handle length. Best of both worlds.

    I bought Snode AD80s with the magnets last November and I'm generally happy with the purchase. I've done a couple of things to enhance my enjoyment of it. I bought a pair of Mad Spotter pros so I'm able to position these better when I do some heavy presses and make weight adjustments via magnets. When I use the magnets I place them inside the dumbbell plates closest to the handle. The 4-8 magnets has never come off unless it's dropped. I've tried placing it on the outside plate and even on top/bottom but drops tend to damage the paint or scuff up the magnet. Overall I'm thrilled to own these (as well as the filthy-diesel cast iron stand)!

I would have been willing to pay a little more for some of the Snode features. But, overall I am very happy with them. Thanks for the reviews Coop. Your reviews are what lead me to the Nüobells.

    I bought the Trulaps on January 27 and then 2 days later I upgraded and got the extra weight. Waiting for those to come in. I've always had the BowFlex ones but I wanted to try something that was slightly less bulky, less plastic, and had heavier weights for longevity. The BowFlex ones are solid, excited to try the Trulaps. Hopefully Trulap gets the rack for the heavy ones back in stock so I can buy that too. Also considering their bench. I have the thick Rogue bench and honestly don't use it all that often.

  • @noreun
    @noreun4 ай бұрын

    I don't get why the trulaps don't get more attention. They do go up to 92 lbs, which is very close to the theoretically optimal 100 lbs, much better than the nuobells in this category. Also the pipe is made from stainless steel, they don't rattle anymore, very resilient. Is it just the super aggressive knurling and the weird increments? Buy the Kg version! 4kg - 5.5kg - 7kg - 8.5kg -... 39kg - 41.5kg, all round numbers! I wish I could test them and the nuobells before buying.

    Awesome! How is the rattling though? I heard those can make some noise and the plates move around a bit when you exercise. What about the "super aggressive knurling"? Those are the two downsides from the videos that I wish I could test before I buy them...

No other competitor has that (Peppin with sidebars would annoy me, some have only 10lbs increments, etc.)

    I really like my MXselect 85s. Zero issues after a year and a half. They were cheaper than the competition by like $200+. The weight increments will probably annoy people, but you get used to it. For an actual garage gym, I like the rubberized handle, because I live in a colder climate. Easier to handle and no issues with rust.

    First of all, love the channel. So I've had Bowflex 1090s forever now (over 15 years). Maybe the quality of the more recently produced has worsened over time, but man these have been a solid investment at $600 when I bought them. Not sure why you didn't mention those with the 552s (due to increased wt range). They also have good microloadability. Can do 2.5 lb increments, although admittedly, it then is a tad lopsided but not too big of a deal. Anyway. Thats my first comment for you. Keep it up! Would love to see more leg extension/leg curl and leg press/hack squat reviews.

    Glad you continue to update this list. Have you looked at the Eisenlink Adjustable Dumbbell? Similar to the iron masters, but with a slot cut out of each plate. Kind of curious about them, but I assume they must be physically larger than the iron masters. Also, come on coop... you talked about size/compactness and didn't mention the Iron Masters? I'm pretty sure they are objectively the most compact adjustable dumbbells for their weight and the most similar to a fixed weight dumbbell.

    I had Bowflex 1090's for many years. Not bad for the time, but they eventually started dropping plates (but only after many years of use). I bought the Nuobells a couple of years ago and have no regrets. They have preformed pretty flawlessly (only a couple of hang ups over 4 or 5 day a week use for a couple of years, which is amazing) and they feel as solid now as when they were new. Great in hand feel, great look, slick operation, and the stand is high quality as well. If I were in the market now, I would look at a few options, sure, but these are hard to beat, IMO. I would like a set that goes to 100 pounds, but 80 is fine for accessories, as I do the heavy stuff with barbells. Might just buy a set of regular 100's one of these days. I don't drop any of my equipment, so I can't speak to that, but adjustable dumbbells are not generally supposed to be dropped anyway.

    Based on a tip I read somewhere, I bought two sets of Ironmaster handles without the weights. Then, I bought CAP barbell 1" weights. The 12.5# weights have a diameter slightly bigger than the corner to corner measurement of the handles. Given that they are about 1" in thickness, I can get about 160# on each handle if necessary.

    Quick reminder on TRULAP: Based on very quick research it looks like this is most likely a Chinese company using an original Chinese design, but using Canada as a North American front for their business. The address on their site is a self-storage unit in Calgary, i.e. Sentinel Self Storage, their website is riddled with spelling mistakes, and their ToS is a generic template copied off of the internet. This doesn't mean the dumbbells aren't high quality but it is information worth knowing. EDIT - it looks like they updated their address. It was 7725 112 Ave NW, Calgary, AB T3R 1R8. It's now 135a 250 Aero Link Ne T2E 7X8, Calgary, Canada. It appears to be a logistics company/warehouse but it also appears to have multiple, obviously related business, operating out of that location.

    I got my ironmasters during covid. I was on a waiting list for almost a year. I love them. But... they need a better stand. My stand wiggles and wobbles all over the place, and the bolts try to pop out. And once you're up to 90lbs they no longer fit on the table top. They spill over the sides. And the handle is awkwardly long, I heard the heavy handle kit fixes that issue though.
