I'm amazed they kept the pacing, it's slow, but it's never boring, it just takes it's time with it's progress and really lets you breathe.

hope his not talking about the 4th episode that night where adult swim pranked us because he's gonna be so disappointed.

Dude, I am absolutely LOVIN' season 5 so far! I hate to admit that Samurai Jack wasn't a big part of my childhood, but after seeing a few episodes (the older ones, that is) I realized I've *really* been missing out!

I never knew what Samurai Jack was until season 5 was announced. so i watched seasons 1-4 and Love it. cant wait for more episodes

I like how the show/ Jack's inner self seemed also make fun of the concept of Jack justifying killing robots even though a lot of robots shown to be just as alive as any human. "it's all just nuts and bolts" Hell they address this in episode with the robot Hitman.

This might be the single greatest continuation/reboot/remake (whatever you wanna specify it as) of a series ever. Kinda shows that having the original creators back on the team actually works...go figure.

Every episode truly deserves a standing ovation.

What I think is interesting is that so far every episode ties in with the next while the old series was mainly episodic.

This season is really amazing. If u really think about the world and how terrifying it is. It makes you realize how amazing Jack is to be fighting it all. You can really see just how much the world has affected him. Hes fucken going crazy, but yet staying true to his convictions.The struggles he faces, both physically and mentally is truly inspiring, that along with the visuals and ambiance just makes it feel more personal and eerily relaxing.. I'd call this season, so far a masterpiece in my book. That fucken amazing punch he did on the log was awesome.

I think Danny Phantom deserves a reboot. Sure, it had a "proper" ending, but that ending was incredibly rushed (thanks Nickelodeon) and left us with several unanswered questions. A "ten years later" reboot similar to what Butch Hartman himself drew would be the ideal reboot for me.

Samurai Jack is one of my favorite cartoons to watch when I was growing up. Now almost thirty, I find it way more enjoyable. Still kick-ass to this day. I'm glad it got the final Season which is the fifth one, and I hope Jack gets his sword back.

I'm a diehard Samurai Jack fan. He is my #1 childhood hero and one of the most important characters of my early life. And I'm so, SO happy with this season 5. This is like, everything I could ever want from this series. Also, this may be the only time, when I would say, that my childhood is being ripped do shreads and just smile while saying so, seeing how heavy this new series is. Sigh... If only we could get a Teen Titans reboot that didn's suck donkey balls...

Samurai Jack Season five is how you do a continuation. It pushes the story forward, provides us with some interesting new aspects(A more narrative based approach as opposed to the episodic approach) and really keeps to the spirit of what made SJ great. And to me, this should be notes to anyone wanting to bring back shows from cancellation, cough Powerpuff Girls.

To those People counterclaiming that he further explained it was not a reboot, and that people should stop saying that he was saying it was a reboot when "He clarified in the first 10s", The problem is he kept saying it was a reboot instead of saying it was a continuation. It's a bit confusing when he says it's a reboot, then says no it's a continuation, then says it's reboot, and that he'll compare it to other reboots.

I think the new season is amazing as well. I'm always on the edge of my seat with each new episode. XD

I'm really enjoying it so far, the stakes are raised and we get to see interesting new sides to already really likable characters.

i honestly barely remember Samurai Jacks voice, from what i remember jack spoke very little in the original, i was super into the show and it makes me glad that they didn't get rid of those long periods of traveling "silence" with striking visuals that made the original so great and memorable (even though i probably wont watch the continuation). i hope that Reboot the Guardian Code is similarly executed and not changed to much from the original style.

I just hope Invader Zim gets the same treatment with the upcoming movie...

Guys, he probably meant that it was a reboot like how some comics or shows are a continuation (it can take place in the future), but only a few things change, (one kind of reboot) or that this show came back after awhile, referring to it as some sort of reboot. He could also mean what makes reboots good, (referring to Jack as an example.) Or, he was referring to the new Jack being a continuation or a revival.

You'd be hard pressed to see fans complaining about this? Go on the Kiss Cartoon forums and you'll find loads. I personally think its great. Perhaps not on par with when the series was originally on but I am greatly enjoying it and it's continued from a really interesting place. Jack killing people made me feel so uncomfortable which amazed me. So many things killing is treated like just another thing but here it gave what I view to be a far more realistic take on how it would feel. I really do hope we get to see the Scotsman one last time.

Who watches samurai history videos in class ? Most general history classes don't really cover that, it's pretty miniscule and unimportant in the overall concept of history (noting it's awesome in itself, but had essentially no worldwide or even regional impact outside of Japan).

I've only seen the first couple of episodes and have been loving it so far.

My name is jack and I got to get back, back to my past, because Ian samurai Jack!!!

I will say there is at least one nitpick on the continuation that I have. There have been some really small animation errors in some of the episodes looking back at them. The biggest one being when one of the daughters is stabbed into the tree and then the blade is retracted. The weapon one of them is suppose to be holding is a spear but it's the club that jack is already holding. Not much else that I can think on top of my head but that's the only one thus far On a side note how was episode 4?

I videotaped all episodes back then when I was around 10. Does that make me a die hard fan? I mean I forgot about it until now.

I'd say this is a fantastic continuation of the original series! It's a perfect blend of new darker material, and the classic humor, character depth, and beautiful artwork that made this a phenomenon. I'm just glad this show is getting the proper ending it deserves.

Yep. I like the new season so far. It's like nostalgia, but with a twist for my age with reasons why it is what it is now.

What are your thoughts on the ending to episode 8? IMO it was better that Jack and Ashi stay a father/daughter relationship but I also kinda saw a romance subplot coming before that episode and don't hugely mind, I just don't agree it was best for the story.

teenage robot needs it's story done as a new season would perfectly end everyone's unanswered questions like what happened to the bad guy after being dethroned and what is jenny up all this time?

In my opinion the reason Jack's transition onto adult swim was so natural is because its always been a very adult show. Even though it was made for kids it never talked down to its audience or forced itself to be kidish. Its long silences are one of the aspects of the show that gave it it's unique atmosphere while also trusting its audience to be attentive because they don't need flashy or trendy references to immerse them into the show. As far as I'm concerned its the only actual adult show on adult swim until Rick and Morty come back in full force. Even though I didn't get to see Samurai Jack in my childhood I consider myself a pretty die hard fan of it. Seeing the show be just what it was and expanding into new territory is the greatest thing that could've happened to this show. I'm so glad the creators were allowed to just finish the series without the original vision being tarnished by some marketing selling bullshit agenda. This show is undeniably fine art and I couldn't be happier to be alive and see it on tv.

So the series is over, there were 10 episodes and it was definitely like a movie more than anything else. They did a fantastic job though, I watched the entire old series before even touching on this new one, and there are definitely many times they reference the older episodes, especially in the final parts of season 5. That being said, definitely go watch some of the older series because it just makes the new one all that much better and I was truly blown away that they created a whole other meaning to the entire season 1-4. They gave an ultimate purpose to what seemed like Jack just going around and helping others while searching for a time portal. (Trying not to spoil for those who haven't seen it yet.) I have never been so moved by a show in just 10 episodes, it was truly a masterpiece!

I'm curious if he recorded this before the Rick and Morty April 1st release or a week later before the actual ep4 release.

What are your thoughts on regular show?

I love the continuing of Samurai Jack, the story and plot is so far amazing. Jack with no sword and conflicted with how he can't get home because he can't kill Aku without the sword...Love it! The only thing that I dislike about it is the voice of Aku. It does not sound like Aku to me and it removes any joy I have for the shapeshifting master of darkness.

I think the continuation is like 95% perfect. Could loose a bit more of Aku's hamminess.

Everyone seems to love Samurai Jack but all I remember from the last series is nothing happening but those silent moments and then a couple of fights. Maybe I need to see it again but maybe this is not just for me.

imo samurai jack needs a little more comedic robots like in the first episode, these past 3 eps have been good but its time to get back to some of the memorable comedic characters for a little while. BUT overall this samurai jack is pretty faithful to the old formula / style from the previos season made all those years ago, which makes it really good.

Well it's still way too early to judge because every episode we've had currently is centered around the Sisters and the "monster/robot of the week" formula hasn't really had a chance to even start yet. Once Ashi's character is solidified, the show will hopefully be able to move on(not saying this isn't a great start to the show, it just hasn't gone back to "normal" yet and we can't start really judging the show until that happens), but these first few episodes have basically just been one long episode about the Sisters and Jack.

Good Lewtoons make sure you only say good things about Samurai and nothing unexpected will happen. This is just a content request I would like to see from your channel. I was hoping you could do Comic Book or Graphic Novel recommendations on your channel, but do not include comics from Marvel or DC superheroes. Over the years I've found great comic books that were made by companies other than Marvel or DC. So I thought maybe you could do a count down on must read comics that not many have heard of. I know a few good comics that you might like to feature on the channel. I love these comics because of art-style and story. I really hope you consider this content proposition. Love your videos keep up the great work.

if you're gonna go watch the older seasons then you should watch all the ones with the Scotsman, the birth of evil, the very first episode, the one with the travelling creatures and (my personal favourite) the one with the 300 Spartans

The Teen Titans story felt like it needed around 2 more seasons and we had a lot of stuff yet to resolve... But NO, TEEN TITANS GO!! (I'd like to say that I dont really hate GO! as I enjoy it. But just continuing the old show would have been fantastic..)

Seems like more of a first impressions type of video. You had me thinkin it was over for a second based on the title.

when all 10 episodes come out on DVD, i will buy it only if they make it into a full movie and not just 10 episodes..... i dont buy DVD's... usually... but i'd love to sit down and just watch All 10 episodes with no adds and no weekly pause...; without interruption

It's Greg Baldwin, he took Mako's role in Avatar the last airbender as well.

If you want to check out some really cool reboot/reinventions of classic cartoons, check out the comics that are based on hanna barbara classics. The Scooby Apocalypse comics look so good! They have taken my childhood and made it 10 times cooler :)

What is the difference between a reboot and a continuation/sequel? The series was cancelled over a decade ago. The original creator brought it back. Is it not a reboot because it retains continuity with the original series? Is that the requirement? On a different note, what is the difference between a reboot and a remake?

A reboot is a reimagining of the of the original show. It's usually made by different creators and only for profit, it has nothing to do with its original source material and doesn't respect its previous incarnations. Also, almost all reboots are worse than their original shows though there are a few exceptions. A revival/continuation on the other hand is different. It usually stays in its roots and respects what came before it. It's a continuation from where the original left of and it has a purpose to exist (usually to finish its story) other than making profit or selling toys. That's the big difference whenever a continuation happens, it has a REASON to happen, unlike a reboot. That's why my friend, the 5th season of Samurai Jack is a continuation, not a reboot.

It was hilarious when Aku was being his own psychologist! Now if only teen titans can get a good reboot of its go reboot..

9:57 That's not necessarily true. Even for shows that get proper endings, people say, 'we want it back'. Even you made a video about Gravity Falls coming back/you wanting it to, even though it got a proper ending.

It isn't a reboot and is in fact a continuation like you said. They said it is season 5 and there will be 10 episodes of season 5 total. You also should of maybe made it more apparent that you would put spoilers in, since if someone may not have seen it, but would want to you spoiled some pretty major plot points.

Would make more sense if he stuck to calling it what it actually is consistently instead of causing confusion. Lew also seemed pretty uninformed in general about Season 5 of Jack and was just giving some clarification on some things, and would just think it's a good idea to actually put up some kind of a spoiler warning if he wants to do this video encourage others to watch it since Season 5 is much more story focused than the other seasons of Samurai Jack.

The minor spoiler warning isn't really just since Jack Murdering the Daughters of Aku is a pretty major spoiler. The only two thing he didn't really spoil is that Jack lost his sword and that he can no longer age.
