My take on buying a 550hp Cayenne Turbo S

This is my personal opinion on owning a 2009 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. I talk about issues that I have and give my opinion on the vehicles capabilities.

My 2010 957 Transsyberian is easy to work on for me. Changing spark plugs and coils was easy, the battery is a pain to get at but keeps it out of the way, and oil changes are easy-peezy. Your problem seems to be the environment you're working in. I'm in Florida and let's just say it's not a "dry heat" situation here but I feel for you as I lived in AZ a bit and hated working outdoors there. Best of luck. My suggestion is to become good friends with your closest porsche parts department. They still sell almost everything and have new off-road overland parts for the 955 & 957

Remember that time when you thought that spark plugs, oil change and battery was working on the car? Lol

I don’t think mine is to bad to work on honestly and it’s been super reliable for a turbo suv with 300k miles

Great video. Any update on this 3 years later? I am planning for a baby soon and need to satisfy my need for speed (and the lady’s for a SUV) with the Cayenne GTS/Turbo/S. I have a local shop that specializes in BMWs/Porsches and am willing to compromise a bit on upkeep for performance. That said, did maintaining the vehicle get that much worse since you posted the video, and do you still have it? I am looking at specs 70k miles and under, ideally.

I bought one mid March (Turbo, not Turbo S). Bit of a mixed bag. The acceleration and handling are great, the car feels rugged and solid, almost like a G class when compared with the latest SUVs. Mine has a 150k kms and is in great shape, but I can't bond with it mainly due to the lackluster spec (silver on silver 21s, cognac interior). I also like some elements that came standard on Turbo S versions (nicer exhaust tips, ceramic brakes, interior carbon trim), but a lot of the ones I've seen feel and look like ticking timebombs... I got really lucky with mine - do you think I should swap it for a perfect spec Turbo S or hold on to mine and thank God it's a good one? Thanks!

Hold on to it! The repair bills are the biggest issue with owning these vehicles. If you have a reliable solid rig then I suggest stay with it. You can always modify it to make it more interesting.

this guy with the Turbo S is so lucky, such a great underrated platform... wish my regular Turbo model had PDCC like this Turbo S

Haha! The brake rotors are bigger than the OD of my Compomotives.

I'm about to get into a 08 Turbo 957... wish I could get the Turbo S but there's not toooo many differences that you can't just add to the regular Turbo anyway. I never knew about these cars and I'm so excited to hopefully be a Porsche owner
