What an amazing collection you have! You have so my exotics too. I have about 40 cactuses and I get overwhelmed 😁. How do you keep and maintain them during winter. I keep mine here in NY, inside the house from early fall to late spring then in my mini green house outside that I can cover and uncover. I’m not lucky with succulents so I stick with cacti & sansevierias. Thank you for sharing!

Great video, really beautiful collection. Do you leave some in the greenhouse during winter and if so do you use a heater. I bought nearly all mine in for winter as I don't have a heater but this year I will be bubble wrapping the greenhouse and possibly getting a heater as I now have to many to bring in🌵🌵😊

Hi Lynsie, I spray bug clear ultra on plants to keep populations down. Not envoirmently friendly I know but its indoors away from bees etc and I'm spraying to a minimum. mealies are active late winter and early spring so this time and just before plant dormancy is the the best time to control mealybugs.

Thank you Shane. Live in New Zealand have noticed some on the cactus. Not sure if I can get the spray you mentioned. Do you know if neem oil would do the same job. I am new too your channel. Lynsie

@@lynsiebringans4497 never sprayed neem oil before, I heard that it can scorch plants so you will have to be careful when applying it your plants.

What a great video. Thanks Shane. Would you be able to tell us which cacti species you do leave out in the greenhouse all winter, and whether there is any form of heating? I'm looking to work out what I can keep out in London without additional heat.

Hi Anthony, it depends on the winter. Some winters are milder than others, Southern Irish winters are usually mild and so I can put leave certain species out in the greenhouse. Cacti such as Rebutia, Mammillaria, Lobivia, Opuntia, Tephrocactus, Lophophora, Ariocarpus, Echinopsis, Echinocereus are quite hardy providing the compost is bone dry. Good ventilation is also important as humidity can lead to rot, and keep an eye on the weather forecast.

Shane,do you fertilize your cactus and succulent,and if you do what kind of fertilizer you use.
