What a wonderful collection. It puts me to shame. I've not had any problems with mealy bugs but white flies and snails. No need for a greenhouse here in central Mexico, but there's a few weeks in mid winter when it gets pretty chilly.

Mealy bug is always around, so it seems. I find it interesting that you have some plants in blue “Euro-crates”. I’m experimenting with these with my more moisture- sensitive Mamillarias and Astrophytums and they definitely seem to help with drainage and air flow.

I enjoy your videos and would be interested in hearing your thoughts on the care and cultivation of Tephrocactus if you get time to address the subject in a future video.

Hi Elvira, Growing cacti for over 23 years. By going to garden centres, purchasing online through nurseries ebay etc., swopping/exchanging plants, sowing and raising seedlings, rooting cuttings and grafting is how you build up a collection.

Nice collection. I love watching but wish I knew exactly what cacti you are talking about in some instances and could match your words with the exact specimen (s). For some, I know and others I am trying to learn. thank you!

Hi Thomas, thanks for the nice comment, I will take on board your comment but sometimes you can't angle the camera to where the exact cactus is but I will do my upmost to make videos better for subscribers in the future.

Nice to see your tephrocactus geometricus with new growth. They are one of my Favorites. Nice work.

I'd like to ask a question. If you had the sulcorebutia grafted into another base and then removed when it had grown how do you get it to root for potting on?

Hi Bev, I usually let the cut surface callous over first and give the cutting a lot of fresh air, either turning the cutting up side down for a few weeks or placing in a glass container such as a vase etc so the cut surface is exposed to the air and after a few weeks you should see developing roots.
