You've got a really great collection Shane! Would love to see a video on your soil mix and how you water during the growing season maybe next year. With having so many plants I can't imagine you pick them all up individually to check they're dry! 😂 Would love a good look at your Buddha's temples too :)

Thank you! I might risk keeping my Agave Americanas out in the shed/greenhouse and a few common opuntias just to see how they do then. Not the end of the world if they don't make it as they propagate so easily.

You're a brave man to struggle with those latin names Shane. Some are real tongue twisters.

Saw this vid in my reccomended so I checked it out. Nice collection, I have similar size greenhouse with around 100 cacti plants,maybe 10-12 different species. I dont know the scientific names for them. I refer to all of them as my babies. Alot are grown from cuttings from the first 3 I aquired in 2008. l'm getting ready to move mine inside for the winter, I live in NY state. Temps go way below freezing for weeks at a time,and usually lots of snow from December to March. The dream is a HUGE greenhouse filled with cacti from all over the world. Thanks for sharing, stay warm 🌵🙂

I really enjoyed this update. Very impressive collection! Have you any idea how many plants are in your greenhouse? I'd love to see a video that focuses on your planting/potting mix & another on your echeverias (some of the largest and loveliest I've seen). 💜

mandys tropicals Hi Mandy, I don't put any plants out because I am living 700 ft above sea level and it can get very windy at times, but the door of the greenhouse is left open on sunny days for maximum ventilation.

was not afraid to leave the cacti and succulents in a plastic tight winter ??

Which species of cacti do you confidently leave out for the winter? Do A. Subulata and O. Ficus Indica stay out? How about the agaves? I am in a similar position - unheated and uninsulated greenhouse. Thank you.

Anthony Hollands Hi Anthony, most of the agaves I leave in the greenhouse over winter except Agave attenuata which is tender, depends also in the winter, some winters can be very cold so keep an eye on the weather forecast, A subulata got damaged last march due to a late frost -9°c, some opuntias are hardier than others, I leave my Tephrocactus out, I leave all my peanut cactus out and I'm goiing to leave rebutia, Lobivia out this year but keep an eye on night tempetures, where I live we don't get too cold for too long.but it differs year frim year and what part of the country you live.

Denise Irizarry Hi Denise, three good online nurseries that I have ordered from are Cactus shop in the UK which have a large selection of orchid cacti and are very healthy plants, kakteen haage and ullhig kakteen both based in Germany
