My Primitive 50th Birthday Party at the Hut: Piñata, Cake, Wine & More

Primitive cultures all had there own traditional ways to celebrate special events. Food, drink, costumes, decorations and unique activities were all sourced from the land and made to serve the purpose of the festivities. In this video I use the natural resources of the land to bushcraft a piñata, bake a cake, and brew some wine to celebrate my 50th birthday in the most primitive way. There are also cameo appearances by a desert tortoise, a diamondback rattlesnake, and coyotes can be heard howling in the distance. This series will be ongoing so stay tuned for the next episode.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):
Who films you?
Me. I travel alone, shoot, edit, upload, everything, all alone. On a few occasions I may be accompanied by a friend, but that has been very rare.
Do you stay out there permanently?
No, I usually stay out in a wilderness area for about a week and then hike out and return to a city for editing and uploading. I have family and other obligations to take care of as well.
How many cameras do you use?
Usually I use just one camera. When I have underwater scenes then I also use a GoPro camera. I get different angles by moving the camera around and repeating the action to create a more cinematic viewing experience for the audience.
Where is this place?
In order to protect the integrity of the natural landscape I prefer to be very vague about the locations I use. There are places that I used to visit that were so beautiful and untouched but the consequences of social media brought all kinds of people to visit and sadly some people do not respect nature and have badly damaged these places. Therefore I do not share locations.
Where did you get your sandals?

Do you workout?
Yes, I workout, but not in a gym. I have some weights that I use and also do a lot of bodyweight exercises. I also run and sometimes swim. I hike frequently to collect wild foods and to shoot these videos so I'm very active all the time.
Are you vegan or vegetarian?
I wish I could maintain my health on a primal diet that does not include animals but unfortunately that did not work well and I ended up with health problems as a result of those attempts. From my studies, observations of nature, and personal experience I have come to believe that the best diet for optimal human health is a primal diet (paleo).
Do you get lonely when you’re alone?
No, I don’t get lonely. I’m actually so busy shooting video, taking photos and doing so many other things like making cordage, cooking, weaving, etc. that I really don’t have time to think about my lonely condition. Sometimes when something profound happens on an adventure I can’t wait to share it with people, but other than that I do not get lonely.
How many languages do you speak?
My first language is English but I also speak fluent Spanish and Portuguese. I also speak very little Russian. I may soon begin learning more languages.
How old are you?
I was born in 1972. At the time of this video I was 50.
Where did you get the music in your videos?
This series is the first one that I am making all the music myself. I recently made a drum and maracas (rumba shaker). I am now using them to create the intro and ending music in my videos, but before in the past I have used royalty free music from several sources including KZread. Sometimes I bought the music but usually it was free.

Yeah, half a century. Well, I eat a very primal diet and have for a long time. I also exercise just about every day. Of course I spend lots of time outdoors too.

Hello, By the way, it is not often that a precious species of desert turtle will ever be seen in your proximity again. But if you do get a second chance to see him, give him/her some of your prickly pear fruit inorder to initiate the start of a good friendship. Incidentally, he/she won't interfere with your progress. So he or she will make an ideal distant companion. As for your garden, if the squash didn't proliferate, you may want to consider planting: onions, 🍅tomatoes, 🌶chilies, garlic, and cilantro to accompany a cooked and diced cactus paddle salad. And don't forget that 🌽corn can be an excellent addition too. Happy 🥮 birthday Chadwick!

That’s what happened when you eat natural food, your body are in different level, most 50 years old this days are run down from eating fast food, work for materialism and full of stress in their daily life. This man gives me motivation to stay healthy.
I can't remember how I celebrated my 50th birthday but, I don't think I'll be able to forget how you celebrated yours. Congratulations Chad.
Hearing coyotes out in the middle of nowhere is actually a lovely sound. Oh, BTW, the older you get, the better you burp! 😆 Does leaching the holly leaf cherry flour remove the black cherry ice cream flavor? So there we have it folks! Chad is now the big 50! Don't be surprised if AARP starts sending mail right to the hut's front door! 🤣🤣

No, holly leaf cherry will not grow in this climate. The winter is too cold and the summer too hot.
Cheers! I actually have some beverages made with grapes and blackthorns from the garden fermenting in the kitchen. I hope to look as healthy as you if I reach fifty! And beautiful shots of the animals and the thunderstorm.

OBVIOUSLY a healthy lifestyle makes a BIG difference (good aging genes don't hurt either😉). My husband got the good aging genes TOO, full head of dark brown hair and all. At 63 he looks YOUR age (or younger). Whereas I look every MINUTE of MY 64 years. After 45 years of marriage, I'm just happy he's still satisfied with his choice. Happy birthday by the way! 🎉🎁🎊🎂 Here's to the mid point in a long, healthy, and happy life!🍻 (It's not fermented prickly pear juice, but it'll have to do.)

I did save some to use later but I can easily make more tannin-rich water with oak. There's a lot of scrub oak in these hills.

@@ChadZuberAdventures Thank you so much for responding Chad. How I wish you had come to our village right here where we are in Zambia Livingstone. We are living in park where we eat with Hyenas and Elephants and wild dogs plus Monkeys. It's a big community and we really love it here. Please find time to visit Africa someday
