For everyone suggesting I just dig a trench from my house and run power to the office… We live on a solid rock. That’s the reason our property is elevated 30’ higher than everything else around here. Trenching here is incredibly expensive and requires big equipment that doesn’t make sense to bring in just for one simple trench. It’s so hard to dig here that the only underground utilities on our property are the water line from our well, to the cistern, and then to our house, and then one single outdoor faucet. We don’t even have water lines to our lawn, and I have to run a hose across the driveway from the well house to water it. Then we have our septic line, which has to run all the way down the hill to the lower corner of our property because they had to get down off the rock to be able to put a septic field in. So a solar setup is the only real logical option for power in my office.

Oh my! What an excellent video. It's as good as the one of your family vacation. Seeing you in a non-rescue setting enables us to appreciate you and your supportive family more. I would put this video as # 2 and the vacation as # 1. Your interaction with Riley is precious. And the love and respect shown by your wife is second to none. Now on this video your enthusiasm shows you are totally happy with the product and inspires me to research that product. I have been looking into solar options for camping/traveling/day trips. I've been watching you for so long as I keep seeing your reviews of new Ecoflow products these guys are just MILES ahead of everyone else. They are revolutionizing how we power our recreation, business and general home life. Once I get to a point where I build up my off-road vehicle and emergency proof my home, there's only one name that will come to mind. I'm sure they will have expanded their range of products AGAIN by then. You should become their outdoor life spokesmen. You really do an excellent job of showcasing the versatility of their products. @@dmc2087 You should really take the time to actually watch the video then as there is a lot more going on here than just hardware. With the software and modular design it makes this a great product line compared to something you can just bodge up in your garage. Not that your solution does not work, it just does not do the same things without the software. Like, can you make your genny turn on/off when you need it automatically to recharge you battery box? 😁

Oops! I didn't read the comments before posting my comment 😮! At least we agreed on where the sign should be hung😊!
Those anderson style connectors work well. I put them on jumper cables, and my small winch, and my trolling motor and the battery charger. I may put some permanent cables wired to my tractor and car to easily plug into the anderson connectors. Either building will take enough solar panels to run everything. And larger 300 watt panels are getting cheaper. I bought an extra slide mount for my e-bike battery and made a cable with mc-4 connectors to plug it into my power station solar input so the e-bike battery can give me additional run time during a power outage.
Nice office Casey. Love the off grid setup you showed us. I'd like to see an ecoflow power outage setup for my home when we get bad weather. It doesn't happen to much but it would be nice to be able to run my coal stove, freezer, and charge my phone since it's usually about dead when the power goes out.
Great video! 1) Keep those DC cables as short as possible to reduce voltage drop (loss). Shorter = less loss. Keep your solar and generator as close to the Ecoflow as possible. 2) Solar: Shed's higher angle roof is better. The further from the equator you go, the higher angle the sun hits the earth. Flat would be perfect on the equator. At almost 45 degrees north, higher angles are better. In Alaska panels are almost vertical!
@CaseyLaDelle

@@CaseyLaDelle That is a giant bummer. All the more reason to want that extra slope: to make better use of the morning/evening sun when it's lower in the sky!
@tomcardale5596
Ай бұрын
@@CaseyLaDelle no, that's a really good thing! I (among other things) design large solar installations for a living and east/west systems are often my preferred solution. Per panel, over a year the east/west generates slightly less. However you can fit a lot more on the roof (you're using two sides instead of one) and it spreads the generation throughout the day better. The big caveat is that you need two separate inputs, one for each side of the roof. If you don't have that, then just pick whichever side is more south, or whatever side is more likely to have sun when you're using the building and don't lose too much sleep over it not being perfectly south. I can do some calculations for you if you like, but generally just compensating for a non ideal orientation by shoving more panels at the issue is the best way. Be wary of connecting too many in series, on a cold day when the panels are producing their maximum voltage your can run in to issues with the maximum input voltage of the controller.

The Anderson Power connectors that came in the Hobo Freight jumper kit can be used to pre-wire into all of your vehicle's batteries. Then just use a buddy start cable to connect up without fumbling with jumper clamps.
I really appreciate all the honest feedback and options applicable to many different applications Casey, shared to our OTR trucker, my FIL who manages our off grid hunting cabin, and other overlanders we connect and adventure with! I love your transparency and how informative your videos are from off-grid tips to towing (from a former tow-op myself). Thank you for your service and stay safe brother.
Great video, learned some things as usual, thank you. Spotting an attentive Rusty orbiting you in the background may be my new favorite Highlights game.
Lots of cool toys Casey, Ecoflow definitely has some very cool features and options. Now to get that amazing sign from Troy mounted up. Have a great weekend man .
Hey, nice to see you're supporting Edison Motors with that Topsy sweatshirt. I think those guys are just great and hope they succeed with their "fight" with Canadian government.
I’m sure there will be people who will fuss about this video being an ad for Ecoflow, but I appreciate the time you took to give us all that info about the various ways the products could be used together. The products are outside my budget right now, but if I needed a product like that, I would give Ecoflow a hard look since they have put a lot of thought into developing a system that interconnects. When I saw that connector you put on the jumper cables, I wondered if you planned to hardwire a pigtail on all your vehicles so you could quickly move that unit around without needing to connect to battery with clamps.
EcoFlow is the way to go! I purchased my first set-up based on your Videos. They are always innovating and running promotions that benefit their customers. Even when you purchase an item they give you credits that lower the cost of your next purchase.
*goldsmith / master jeweler, Photovoltaic / Solar Thermal Technician here* that DIY jumper cable is how i've been telling folks how to connect an inverter to your car battery and have electricity during emergency blackouts (must have a full tank of gas and will run for approx 72 hours) that propane ecoflow generator is sweet. *you're a man after my own heart* edit: Bruh, she kicked you out of da house HAHAHAHAHA she's a keeper

the possibilites of its use are extraordaniary, so awesome, great setup
Casey: Anderson connectors on all your vehicles connected directly to the battery with large gauge cables, you can connect the Ecoflow directly as well as have a connection for jumping other people's vehicles.
Casey, great channel.......the power/volts/watts are not free from the vehicles charging circuit...the alternator brushes will wear faster. I get your meaning....I just think it would be good for your viewers to know this. I have just started watching the last couple of months. Lots of good stuff and you are good to people...that's key!! Thanks for looking, Tom
You are one lucky man, @CaseyLaDelle !!! Not only did your awesome wifeypoo provide you with your own official office and equipment storage shed, she also provided you with your very own super man cave/dog house for any time she says, "SHUT UP" and you clearly hear, "STAND UP!!!!!" This is a common issue in my own home which clearly explains the origin of the knots I proudly display on my forehead! 🤪 The only problem with this is, after 40 years of wedded bliss(ters), I seem to drool much more these days than I did when we first met... 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Pretty nifty setup for you Casey. A bit of thought went in to the systems you have available to you. Not only off grid it's out of the "box".
Rule of thumb for your solar panels is to angle them to you Latitude South, since you are Latitude North. For instance, if you are 42 degrees North, you would face your panels South, and tilt them 42 degrees. You would then be optimized to the 2 Equinoxes, and your "fuzz factor" max wold be at the 2 Solstices, but in opposite directions. Look like a fun setup to put into an RV, but you'd have to find a way to minimize road spray coming up from below and messing with the electronics. Thanks for sharing.
Good diversity on your channel. Nice set up. A pick and pick axe would work after awhile...maaaybe. Love your videos. Thanks for sharing.

If you want to go the extra step, you can hard mount Anderson connectors to the trucks and run cables to the batteries. That way you don't have to worry about alligator clamps slipping or failing. You can still move the box, but connections are a little easier.
That’s what I like, versatility.

Definitely a win, win for all of you. Pretty awesome that your wife is happy being who she is and also enjoys making you happy. Rusty approves also.
I love to hear and see you rambling, and yes she is slowly kicking you out. 😁🤠
I know on the Honda generators, you want a piece of wood or metal under them since they suck in the engine and cooling air through the bottom. Running them sitting on dirt or gravel gets them really dirty inside. Not sure if the eco flow is the same way, but I’m sure you want to keep that generator in as best condition as possible.
Great video. Eco flow has really expanded their line. Your a great spokesman for them
Your videos are always very entertaining. Look forward to them every week.
thanks for the power unit update.
you might want to consider building a small hinged and counter-weighted tower to mount the solar panels on that would allow you to bring them down for cleaning and protection from extreme wind / weather …. and allow you to adjust their position with the seasonal sun movement….
Awesome video. Look forward to yout updates. Your setup is very close to what I have.
Thank you for the information on the ecoflow alternator charger. I really like all of the ecoflow products I have and this new charger solution will make things a lot easier to do my setup in my truck toolbox for camping and emergency backup solution.

Thanks again for the discount code. I just ordered one of the combo kits with the new charger.
I almost didn't watch this video.. I ended up skipping to the half way point to the "van life" setup. I'm glad I did. Seems a lot easier than a deep cycle setup I was considering for a future truck camper build.
For your solar setup, don't put them on the roof... build one of those "sunflowers" that they go on, and then that thing will intelligently track the sun so you're always maximizing how much power you get from them. I don't have a specific link; do some googling for stuff like "sun tracking solar panels" or somesuch and you should find what you need.
I do LOVE the idea of Ecoflow...... some day I might able to get some items..... would be awesome for a ice fish house instead of running a Honda 2000 generator 24/7 for 3 days....
I would mount the panels right on the top of the office. This will make wiring a bunch easier. I wish ecoflow had all this cool stuff 3 years when I was setting up my off grid house.
Hello Casey, Ecoflow is definitely a leader in the industry. That's a very cool modification to the setup. I would mount a few 200w panels on the roof of your office..
Thank you for sharing this information.A lot of people will use those units. 😊

I love my ecoflow products. I have the Wave2 and River Pro that I purchased for my small camper. My only regret was not purchasing the Delta series instead. The River works as advertised, but after getting the Wave2 and now with the alternator charging, that DC port would totally fit the bill for what I need.
