Off Road Recovery with a Heavy Wrecker??

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Huge thanks to elitefleetautomotive.net/ for helping out and picking up the tab on this one so that the customer has no additional costs added onto the already big expense of losing his truck! If you're in the Central Oregon area and need you vehicle serviced or repaired, check out Elite Fleet Automotive for the most honest and fair priced service you'll find anywhere! I have been taking my vehicles to Nate since long before I had a KZread channel and I will let them sit in my driveway and wait for an opening at Elite Fleet before I take them anywhere else.
My wife and daughter mean everything to me and the vehicle they take to school and work every day gets all of it service done at Elite Fleet and the guys there have been told by me that my wife's vehicle has a blank check for whatever it needs to have done to keep it a safe and reliable vehicle. They have never once taken advantage of that with unnecessary repair or maintenance, and they have also never once let that vehicle get into a state where it's broken down and left my girls stranded. I couldn't ask for any better than that!
Be sure to check out our Patreon project where we use whatever it brings in in a month as our budget to help someone the following month! I was never a fan of the Patreon idea until I realized that I can use it to help others instead of myself, so I created the Patreon Project where we can all combine our efforts to make a real difference in people's lives and make the world a better place! For as little as a dollar a month you can join the group of awesome people already on board and be vote to help steer the ship along the way!

    That is interesting. I was on vacation out in that area and was driving down a washboard road like that through one of those burned areas. Nice forest, but you would be hard pressed to hike off of the road because of the brush. My only real complaint though is people leaving trash around. We found an empty tea bottle just left on the side of the road. Of course we did the responsible thing and stopped to pick it up. Kind of glad we did as it got us slowed down. As bad as the washboard was, had we not slowed down, we might have bounced off the road into the brush.

    it is definitely a good thing that you are taping this recovery from arrival to completion, because by giving you the keys to drive this truck out, the customer appears to be thinking that his truck is still in fairly good condition and imagine his reaction and surprise when he realizes that what you are bringing him back is nowhere near in the condition he thinks it was in when he left it.

  • @nunyabidness674

    @nunyabidness674

    After the missing tea bottle, I was starting to think the same thing. Either dude dumped the truck at night and didn't know the actual condition, or the truck itself rolled over on its own. It's possible the ground under it let go, and last dude saw of it, it was up next to the road. Another red flag was the spare tire. Not everyone bolts down the bed box, but the spare lives under the bed on those. The spare and the bed box were side by side when they got there.

    It needs a bigger fuel tank far more then it needs 40 more hp. . I speak from experience. That 15 gal tank sucks big time. They made a smaller frunt tank for short beds, I've wondered if it would fit in there and clear the PTO setup. Or whatever else is added down there. . A 2nd 15 gallon tank would do absolute wonders for its range.

I say do both an add on tank and the turbo.

    I can't help but think when watching videos like this one, that people doing recovery like yourself are an incredible source of information for government agencies regarding dangerous road design/travel conditions. Do they ever use feedback like yours to put in safety measures or specialized warning signs? "Slow down! It's funny about the remote because much earlier in the video I was thinking to myself if you had a spare one of those ready to go. Glad you didn't lose it, that would definitely suck.

    That's what the road to my place is like for the first 15 kilometers - which is where the most people live on it. It is supposed to be maintained, but the company that does it figures one grading a year is sufficient. Once you get past the traffic area it's smoother by far. And yes the washboard surface tries to toss my truck right off the road even at low speeds.

    @18:57... You mentioned turning your remote off, so when you're under the vehicle, you don't crush yourself; that very thing happened to a Santa Fe Tow employee, here in Kansas City. He put the remote in his pocket, got underneath (the remote activated) and he got crushed.

    36:40 I think there’s a law somewhere that ratchet straps lose their effectiveness unless the incantation of ‘that ain’t goin’ nowhere’ or something to that effect is uttered after tightening. It has to be said out loud so the strap hears it. Well done Casey.

    28 years ago I was doing a heavy recovery which I notified department of Hiways! They sent out flaggers because I was using the far ditch to help anchor my truck and I had my lines going across the road and down to the semi trailer! Some idiot decided that he wasn't going to stop almost wiped out the flag girl came ripping around the corner and hit my lines which were tight! Luckily I had run them low they cut through the front and pushed the motor & transmission back!
