Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

My Grandma's House has been an icon on the Island for many years. It has this special charm to it that can light up any person walking by on the sidewalk. Join us for a garden tour and check out some of the new installations you all helped me out with last year!

I was a waitress at the Iroquois in 1963 and always respected your grandmother, Mrs. McIntyre and your granddad. Mr. Mac. What a wonderful summer of memories !

Hi, Jack. I worked as a maid at The Iroquois the summer of 1981, so I knew your grandma back in the day! Boy, did I carry a lot of baskets of linens from the basement laundry to the rooms above. Wish I was still in shape like that! I always admired Mrs. Mac’s savvy business sense. She, Mr. Mac & the staff created a magical escape for so many guests. And, it was a super fun summer for me, too! Thanks for the tour!

I am absolutely shocked and amazed how many people here commented on the dead heading geraniums! I have always done it the way that Jack described. I took for granted that everyone knew how to dead head a geranium correctly! I’m pleased that so many know now! 🤗

Just last week I was on Mackinac Island and walked by your Grammas house Jack. I stopped at the gate to admire the garden and had to know what was growing on the beautiful arbor. I entered the court yard and rung the door bell and this beautiful, gracious lady came to the door and ansewered my question. Little did I know that I would be watching this on you tube when I got home. Thank You So Much For This. I am a gardener too so I really appreciate this. Judy

Your Grandma’s place is my favourite, absolutely stunning - the house, plants and landscaping provide such a serene setting ! Jack, I have followed a few of your suggestions with respect to your favourite ground-covers. I also learned today I’ve been pruning my geraniums incorrectly over all these years!Coincidently I bought myself a small Japanese maple this spring, so now I know how to coordinate it with other surrounding plants when I move it to the garden this fall ! Thank you and your Grandma for sharing with us all! 🌸💐🇨🇦

Yes it’s true! Lots of studies have been done that plants know exactly what you’re thinking and your intentions. There’s books by Baxter about it and Vogel, and many others since the 1960s. Right now I’m listening to the audiobook “the secret life of plants“ by Christopher Bird and Peter Thompkins. It’s so cool, it has chapters like ‘plants and ESP’, and ‘plants can read your mind’.

Under the Elm is magical. Astilbe is just blooming here in Montana; we have to wait too. The elements have done their job on the cedar siding, it looks simply beautiful. Your grandfather was so right to just leave it. I always wondered what you chose for the space near the beech tree. The most special thing is to transplant from your own garden and give, or to receive a new planting from someone else. So your grandma receives a gift from Emory and a gift from your own garden. Couldn't be more perfect. Thank you both for the much awaited tour.
