Save me is a masterpiece song. It’s just a shame they don’t play it live anymore. M. Shadows made a comment a couple years back that it’s such a long song and hard to perform. Fiction would make you cry because it’s the last song from the REV!! 🖤💙🖤

I'm 43. I found out my oldest son had a rare brain tumor when he was 15. This album helped me in so many ways processing my emotions while also mentally going through the exercise of burying him. I cry every almost everytime I hear Save Me, Victim, or So Far Away. My son is still alive but there are no promises as to when it will be over, so I live and love him like Seize the Day. Now I'm fucking crying writing this:( I love A7x because they just get it.

Fentanyl was the cause. He was struggling with stuff but we never knew that. He was always happy and very good spirit kind of guy. Nightmare album has hit me harder than ever but has helped me healed. Avenged Sevenfold has saved my life when I was 13 and the music is there whenever I need it.

I was going to say about the same thing. Your love for music and being able to show exactly what you want others to hear or look for is something special in itself. It’s highly appreciated. Started listening to the band back in, god, what, 04? 05? Bat Country, A7X was the first band I found on my own. While my taste has changed, they’ll always have a special place in my heart. 09 of course, when the Rev passed, the band was such an immediate influential point in my life then, arguably my favorite member passes and then they crush you with this album. Save Me, So Far Away, Fiction, those make me hurt internally. Haha, it’s a great tune and you’ve got a great ear for it, bud. Keep it up🤙

When I first heard the news when this album was being made and it was announced that Mike Portnoy would be playing drums on the album, I immediately knew that this album was going to be a banger because of how much the Rev idolizes Portnoy. Hearing this song specifically, you can hear Portnoy all over it. Even though this song never became a hit, this is probably one of the best Avenged Sevenfold songs ever written so far.

Insanely cool fact about this song, the ending "tonight we all die young-" is the unfinished original chorus of the Song, written by Jimmy. Which explains why then lyrics are the way they are. You may see in some demo tapes of other avenged songs, that in order to get the feel of how the vocals should sound and be sung, Jimmy would just repeat the main phrase used in that part, because no other lyrics were written. If you want an example of what I mean, look up "lost it all with the rev singing". You'll hear him sing the bridge mid way through, only using the lyrics "theres something in your eyes." And other mumbled words. It's so beautiful to see the band still put in his chorus as the ending even after they had to make a new one.

The absolute best part of this song is the dualing guitar underneath the vocals in the part of the song before the final chorus. It adds so much emotion to the piece and goes so great with the vocal delivery that sounds like someone in pain over the loss of a loved one. It really captures the emotions of frustration and grief that really drives the song home for me I'd also like to add that, while Portnoy did perform the drums for the album and concert cycle, the original demos for the song were brought in by the Rev. They were largely incomplete, though, so the song was stitched together by the rest of the band and Portnoy until we got the masterpiece we have today.

Extra fact abou this song... ! Rev wanted the chorus to be "Tonight we all die" but the band was not keen as was not working well with the instrumentation. after he passed away, the song was not yet completed, so as a tribute to The Rev (drummer), they placed " tonight we all die" in the end of the song. that's why you hear it so many times at the end.

@@fazbruhI agree that its the best song, I agree that deserves more attention, but I kinda like it the way it is, the real fans appreciate it a lot, however Demons is my second favourite song and im sure no one knows about it 😭😭

I feel like this would have changed your life if you would have heard it when it was released lol. This whole album was such an experience. The pure emotion you can feel from the band in every song is unmatched. Buried Alive & Victim are also great ones...

As someone very picky I could say that this is the only 10/10 album ever from any band! I've listened to many and there is always something missing! But here everything is perfect! No song that I dislike, no song that I would skip, No reason not to play over and over again

I was fortunate enough to see this song live. The atmospher of the concert at the end with thousands of people singing tonight we all die young is hard to describe. There weren't very many dry eyes in the crowd.

One of the most affecting moments I've ever had at a show was when the band played this and paused all the music for just the crowd to sing "tonight we all die young." I was not the only one in tears in the pit.

A small part of the solo, the super fast part before the melodic section towards the end, reminds me alot of And All Things Will End and the outro solo for second heartbeat that same general vibe. I also think the part after the solo when it slows down and the filtered acoustic part starts after the blistering fast solo is a methaphor for they lived life hard and fast but now reality kicked in and now everything is slow and dead around them so their completely lost on where to go next.

So awesome to see your RAW emotion to this legendary piece of music. You got hit with emotions and it floored you. And that's how I feel when I listen to this masterpiece. Thanks for showing us this vulnerable piece of who you are. Well done. I love your channel and I found you through ur a7X reaction journey. I'm a FAN.

I had the exact same reaction when I first heard this song. I'm a musician and producer myself, and I have been a huge A7x fan since their City of Evil era. The Rev inspired me to learn to play drums and when he passed, I was completely heart broken. I remember buying the album, and listen to it while feeling completely down about his death. When this song played, taking into account that it was the last one of the album (not considering the deluxe version, which includes Lost It All) I just bursted into tears! To me, as a huge fan of the guys, this is their best song. You just can feel all the emotions they were going through while making it, and specially you can feel the pain for their lost mate! I just hope I get to see it live one day! Loved your reaction, and I hope you continue to explore more of their repertoire. Big hugs to you! It is so beautiful to see someone who feels art as much as you do!

Coming to this after hearing Life is But a Dream... it's just so tight and meticulously crafted like there's an OCD nature to it. So clean. Where as the new album is much more free flowing and experimental, makes you think. I love how this band is always keeping people guessing.

I remember I felt the same way when I heard this song when it first came out… I was in 6th grade and understood the emotion then just as much I do today… the progression in this entire album… nightmare was and always be my most emotional experience of avenged sevenfold. The new album and Nightmare are hand in hand the best two albums they have ever made.

One of the reasons I love A7X is their ability to make these long, epic songs that don't feel near their length. Something about how they switch up the sound, pace, long bridges, etc. Perfect examples for me are Exist, The Stage, Save Me, ALPOH
