It’s actually the original chorus The Rev had written for the song and they gave it its own section at the end of the song to pay respect to him

If you’re looking for a song to dedicate to The Rev try Fiction. He literally wrote the song before he died. So good. Long live the Rev!!

@@ZDS1865 yeah yeah, he had a lot of contributions to the Nightmare album as a whole there's leaks of his demos on yt, but youre right i believe fiction is the one he was still writing as he passed which is why his scratch vocals dont have actual lyrics but they kept em in anyway to honor him

I believe the Rev laid down the drumming before he died. Mike Portnoy brought it to life for the album.

That is indeed correct sir, he did all the demo tracks and Mike put all the finishing touches The Rev would've added on. No wonder Portnoy was one of his biggest inspirations.

He did for most of the album but this song was way different than it turned out to be when the rev passed, so mike had some parts to go off of but a lot of it was mikes own stuff

i really like the piano part in not ready to die because it's the theme for cod zombies, also i'm pretty sure the song was made for the call of the dead map on black ops 1 zombies

In fact, Jimmy created all the drum lines on this record. Unfortunately, for some reason he recorded the demos on an electronic drum set, which made it impossible for them to be posthumously placed in the final versions. There is an interview with Mike in which he comments on each song individually and said that the other guys wanted the drums to be as faithful as possible to the demos and he just had to adjust some details and add some little things.

God, I remember when I first listened to Save Me back when Nightmare dropped. I was blown away by the whole album, and then that final track came on and took it to another level. I like Exist, but Save Me will forever remain their masterpiece to me. The entire thing's just fantastic, but I always get chills and tears when the "No pulse inside of me..." part begins. Really feels like a Requiem Mass for the Rev.

This song makes me so emotional. In a good way. It's so damn good. Super melodic, and hella good lyricism. And those guitars man. "Tonight, we all die young."

i first listened to this album as my intro to a7x 11 years ago when i was 10 and i never thought much of it back then now at 21 knowing about the rev and general maturity this song is amazing overall, this entire album is a fucking amazing tribute to the rev and i cant respect it enough

I remember listening to this in the backseat of my friends car at night, with my friends, we remained quite during the whole song while you listening to what a masterpiece this song was, my gf at the time had teardrops on her face thinking about the rev.

On July 9th last year (5 days after my brother’s birthday) my mum passed away after battling cancer for 3 years, since then, I’m surprised I’ve made it this far, I’ve felt nothing but pain since, I’ve contemplated joining her numerous times, but my love for my family and friends have prevented me from doing so. For those who’s having trouble coping with loss, keep your family and friends close, most likely they’ve gone through what you’re going through, they’ll help you through it.

The Rev knew about this song when he was alive. He wrote the drums for the song. He also wrote some of the lyrics. It’s sad to think that he wrote these lyrics and M Shadows is singing The Revs lyrics about him. Mike Portnoy did an amazing Job recording the drums. The Rev would be proud. R.I.P The Rev

I also like your theory on how they made the song after the Rev died. This song was originated directly right after the white album. They never really go to the song but Jimmy was working on it secretly. His whispers are in the song along with "skull". And some of his vocals are very hard to hear in the bridge starting from "he may be out of his mind".

To my knowledge, the rev was actually a part of the lyrical writing process for this song, and even had a bit of demo parts he had recorded. But passed before it's completion. I think A7x talked about it in the 3 part video series of breakdowns for this song on their KZread channel.

Chapter 4 is one of their classics and the song that started this whole A7X grind my dude! 😀 GIBBY GANG STAND UP!! #FAITH

This song accurately describes how we all felt the day the rev died. I Litterally cried for 2 hours. That's one of the few musicians deaths that really affected me because of who he was. Just imagaine the rev singing for this song in the background. He wrote these drum tracks.

Shadows said they couldn't find a way to fit "tonight we all die young" in the song, so they put it in the end for him 💜 RIP foREVer 🙏🏻

That drummer is Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater. He guested on this cd and the tour until they could find a replacement. He is a highly regarded drummer.
