My Evening Routine For Optimal Sleep And Relaxation (animated)

A morning routine allows you to get the right things done throughout the day, without having to put too much thought into it. This is why it's important to have one, if you want to be successful.
However, it seems that people often forget about their evenings. You want to start your day successfully, but you also want to end it that way.
Night routines are not popular, as sticking to them isn’t easy, especially after a whole day of studying or work.
But the benefits are worth it. A more restful and higher-quality sleep.
And being able to tackle the next morning in a more productive way.
Today I'll share with you what my evening routine looks like.
It might not work as well for you, as it does for me, since we have different goals and different schedules.
However you might get some ideas which you could implement and tweak in your own routine.

I also do this. I write what happened that day, how I feel about it, and what I want to do the next day. It helps me feel prepared, understand myself, and reach my goals. It's also a very useful resource when you have your life on file. If I wanted to know my results after meditating for example I could refer back to when I first started.

I still struggle with going sleep early. So I also had an idea to make an evening routine, but I didn't know how to approach it. This video brings me inspiration and feeling that I can do it, because it looks so nice and simple. and It remainds me, that the simple thinks are the most effective. :-)

@@erex9875 after talking with people, I feel like I'm almost anomalous. I usually fall asleep in ten minutes or so after lying down and if I don't get enough sleep I can take a nap during the day and usually go directly into dream cycle sleep even if I only nap for twenty or thirty minutes. I do however need more than eight hours of sleep on a regular basis, so that part is not ideal.

If you need all this to have quality sleep, you need to change your life ASAP, because there are several things during your day that mess you completely up for the evening and those are the real sources of problems you need to work on! For comparison: I have lights all around me 24/7, I watch a monitor right before I go to sleep as I have the last 20 years, but I am sleeping 10-12 minutes after I shut my eyes anyway, the noise floor of the room is between 32-36 decibels, and I still have such quality sleep that I'm waking up by myself several minutes before my alarm goes off, completely refreshed.

  • @beach_lion

Nice video! I have some similar techniques re: planning and reading before bed. I find that as long as I worked hard that day, falling asleep is no problem. If I'm having trouble falling asleep, it is either because I had a very lazy day and my brain didn't expend all its resources, or it may be due to poor diet causing blood sugar swings (this is a more recent observation).

I hate to tell you this but.....Although I often watch "Better than Yesterday" videos and recommend them to other people, I don't do any of the things recommended in this one and yet I have no problem sleeping and no problem waking up in the morning without an alarm clock. I often watch a video right before bed and I almost never do any reading. I listen to audiobooks accompanied by appropriate music of my choice. Probably most annoying of all is that I don't really give much thought to trying to be productive and yet at 75 years old I am more productive than most people I know. One of my favourite sayings (I can't remember who said it) is "I didn't get where I am today by trying to be successful". The videos are still great though, and if you are having a less positive experience than I am, I recommend watching all the videos and giving all the advice a try. If it doesn't help, it can't hinder.

Its my own experience, if you feel its worth trying please do. 1. Don't take naps or rest in day not even lying on bed waking up. 2. Go for running morning and evening and not just walking for a mile or half 3. Make sure you don't use phone or digital media. 4. You may or may not take bath, it actually drains extra heat from core to surface since all blood circulation on surface acts as a heat sink. 5. Tea coffee is a big no especially in evenings. I repeat I am no specialist, but just give a try.

@@gredeniand A good plan should be a reflection of what you want your day to be. I suggest that, if you have problems living by your plan, you research how to amend your plan (plenty free online for that) so that it would clearly be the best course of action for the day. A key element in living by your plan is not to expect to much from yourself, especially at first : Everyone has huge potential but it takes time to build character and you cannot expect yourself to change over night. if you wish to build momentum well, you should start by making tasks easier than what you are capable of while always keeping your good habits going, no matter the extent you practice them to. Finally, building self-control and perseverance are both things anyone can do and NOBODY is stuck being lazy forever if they follow through with bettering themselves in this area. To motivate yourself to follow through with it, you can look at techniques that trick yourself into being motivated like changing your body position to transform your emotional state. To begin, I suggest looking at Tony Robbins and implementing what he advises, I can vouch that it works.

Nice sharing, but i want to add more, sleeping in the dark is the best as it promotes the secretion of melatonin and seratonin which promotes better immune system, rejuvenation and cell regeneration. You will feel the difference that you will feel that you are more rested upon waking up. No light at all cures my insomnia, which was my issue for years, provided there is no mobile phone around as it will make you stay awake
