Ariel is actually the one who made my blood boil in this episode. I totally get what you are saying, and I don't disagree with you. I just feel like both of these parents are failing that poor child. I think that I probably have a different perspective as a foster parent, but I feel like, no matter what, it is NEVER helpful to badmouth a bio-parent or family of origin to a child. Those two (or more) people are the clay that has formed the person who that child is, and putting the bio-parent down only serves to make the child feel that they are made with subpar materials.

My ex is so much like this, except he’s usually the one triggered by our conversations because I don’t have emotional reactions to him anymore. Mom was in a delicate place so I get it, but her sanity will be more stable when she learns how to expect insanity from him and not feed her energy into his attempts to gaslight her and deflect accountability. I could write a novel on what I’ve also gone through in 11 years. Instead, I’ll pray for this sweet baby who reminds me so much of my own 😢. It’s so unfair to them 💔

I have NEVER missed my biological father. He told my cousin we chose our stepdad over him. How? I was 5 sir. Your absence allowed room for that relationship to develop. I pray Kali's stepfather remains in her life and provide that guidance she needs. Sending love, peace and light.

I honestly could never understand how someone can just up and not bother with their own children. I have more respect for those that can verbalize how they do not want to be a part of the child rearing situation. But that showing up and disappearing and ignoring mess - I can't! I watched my own relatives experience that. It does take a toll and it will mess that child up if never addressed.

Growing up We were surrounded by a village of love and cheerleaders. I got to know my father as an adult. He was an amazing man, served in the US Army,he was a hard worker, and he was book smart, and gave me siblings that I love to life.Even though we are siblings by various mothers, we actually love each other and we loved our dad. We all heard the back story..it was up to us individually to accept it or not. All I know, When he made his transition... We were all there together. Portia I am a believer in hope. I can relate to Kaylee. My father was the first man to lie to me, not show up when I needed him, especially for protection, and even choked me for telling him no when he wanted me to strip naked in front of him. He was also performative in front of my mom and her side of the family. Acting like he cared about me but never showed up for my birthdays or even Father's Day so I could celebrate him. His name isn't even on my birth certificate either. I genuinely hate his guts and deep down I pray he isn't my biological father. I even asked my mother if she's sure no one else could be a possibility. She keeps telling me no but I still have my doubts. There's no way I could be related to that selfish and dangerous coward. Luckily for Kaylee, she feels safe enough to ask her stepfather to adopt her. Unfortunately for me, I don't feel that way with mine. My stepfather mistreats my mom, me, and his own daughters too. It literally feels like there's no escape to the toxicity for me. I wish all suffering for everyone would stop.

As someone who has a father that had done similar things, it is 100% true as to what the mother is saying. A lot of fathers dont understand how much they actually impact their daughters lives and wellbeing, my father ended up leaving my mom after we arrived back in Bk and my mom had to raise 2 kids by herself, not just 2 kids but 2 kids with special needs ontop of that and it wasnt easy . Throughout my whole elementry and middle school life I was a little troubled here and there ontop with the fact I was special needs, I still remember vividly when I had to end up going back to therapy because i was searching up ways to off myself because of the fact that i wanted a perfect family, a dad who was always gonna be there for me, the other time being that I ended up ripping my hair out due to my father as well as getting bad habits such a biting my nails. I always questioned 'Why cant i have a normal family' 'Why cant my father do this x, y, & z', I never felt so lost.

Continuation: Fast forwarding to middle school my mom had always told me this that I still till this day will remember "You shouldnt have to chase after your father for love". That being said it took me a minute to understand and to try to get over him but I slowly did even now i'm still trying to get over him and the fact that he was never really there for the rest of my life and was just in and out (mostly out). After seeing this video and thinking back to 2020 I remember getting in trouble for my mom cause of doing something bad and once I told my mom the reason on how I felt unwanted by my dad and my low self esteem and why I did it all hell broke loose and now my mom hates him literally despies him. Anyways even now in 2023 I am still learning how to move on from loving my father and honestly starting to not care about him due to the constant let downs and broken promises and its hard cause thats your bio father but its even harder knowing that they werent their to see you grow up fully as well as fixing my daddy issues due to it. I'm writing this to say that me need to stop having kids if your not gonna be there for them cause all your doing is just damaging them and causing hurt, specifcally BLACK fathers. You dont understand how much you can actually affect their life by not being there so please for the love of god dont have kids if your just gonna leave. So I honestly dont feel bad that the mother feels this way and the dad deserve all the stuff said towards him, she honestly reminds me a lot like my mother to

At 7 years old, she has never met her father. He sits in well known spaces, acting as if he is this good person, yet this man provides no sort of support for his daughter. Just imagine living in a 3rd world country with no financial support coming from the father. HER MOTHER FOUND LETTERS OF HER FEELING UNLOVED BY THIS MAN. and he DOES disrespect women, HER MOTHER. she is 11 years old. she sees how he treats her mom. don’t degrade the mother saying she coached her.
