I realize this is available digitally, but I would pay for a physical copy. This is the kind of project that would work well Print-On-Demand. I could easily spend hours looking at this. It reminds me of the railroad maps my dad used to make when he was younger. Inside his head was an entire country connected by rail. He even had time tables! Even now, my fingers are itching to turn a physical page to discover a new neighborhood...
I know how you feel when you say you don’t like how the edges don’t exactly line up, but honestly mate the fact you’ve done all this in notebooks is quite a feat. Be proud of what you’ve made; you’ve done a stellar job

Sir you should get them digitize into photoshop, and put them into a complete world map, then you can print them out and paste them together. Doing so will allow you to print out without seeing the notebook linings. Imagine having this image being made for one of those 'child astronomy star projector' lights in bed room, having all your creation of the cities projected on every walls and ceilings.

@@brandynamite3022 If you were to stick the map to sheets of hardboard or plywood, you could drill holes into it and wire everything up with solderable magnet wire/varnished wire from behind. If you're extra fancy, you can use adressable LEDs and some digital controller to animate.

I was thinking of something like that, but I was wondering if trying to line all the roads up in Photoshop would be very time consuming. Perhaps you can recreate it in a mapping tool (QGIS?) and get a seamless mural printed from that, but then you'd also have a digital one you can zoom in on and make tweaks to as the city inside your head develops.
I like how organic and natural your map looks. It's a big relief seeing that there are people like me spending their childhood with intense hobbies. I was insecure about that for a long time but now I feel much better.
I thought for the longest time, I was the only one drawing maps of imaginary places until I found out that there is a big community of game masters for roleplay games who make maps for their worlds, too. Many of these people would look at this and be in awe. Seeing years of work on your wall reminds me of the murals I've done over the years. Once a wall is finished, it's such a feeling of accomplishment! Keep being awesome and keep being yourself! With kindness, A fellow ASD/ADHD mapping enthusiast from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 ✌🏻

I'm not at all into city maps, and even less of fictionnal ones. Even tho as I see no direct interest of your hobby, I am still impressed by the shear amount of effort put into it and how well it looks. This is even more impressive, as through your previous videos it's clear each maps where drawn almost sequentially in a book and not on a big canvas. Be proud. Stay humble, but be proud. I would say, hand drawn maps would not get you a job as a map maker (like old french or soviet maps, or tramways and metro maps ; as there all digital and traced out of satellite pictures for more accuracy or for illustration purpose) but will but a major ace for city planning. Like for redesigning roads to account for improve saftey, or to build/refactor more ecological cities ; you could also have a say in designing cities in current developping countries. Keep what you're doing. The world needs people like you : massive nerds, for our future.

@@cityplannermismanages Maybe you can use tools to make the maps faster, instead of hand drawing it. Though as a traditional artist, there is something very special about the feeling you get when hand drawing things. You could also get hired to work on games. Some people who play tabletop games spend a lot of money on stuff like minifigures and they might be willing to buy big maps. Not everything is medieval fantasy Dungeons & Dragons, there's lots of modern setting campaigns. The game world for the video game "Disco Elysium" started as a table top game campaign set in a fictional world with mid 1900s technology and political systems. It has a huge world described outside the playable area, with a lot of place names with history. A lot of fans have tried to make maps of that world, based on what is described in the game.

I'm just flabbergasted! That created a nearly 7 minute continuously grin on myself. Thank you for that. I surely can't create those maps and don't have the intend to do so but I like myself to get lost in maps from time to time and somehow can imagine to understand your passion about that. It was sad to watch the other video ("My 112 Hand-Drawn Maps caused a DIVORCE!"); it reminded me of growing up surrounded by a rather limited understanding from those around me. They had their difficulties to accept anything that deviated from what they considered 'normal,' rather than accepting things as they were.

My dudeeee, they connect - that's awesome! I saw an earlier video and it was great, but I thought each page was it's own thing, I was not prepared for it to all be a part of the same city. Mind blown. I've seen other people doing things like this and calling it "world building" which seems to be a good term to use with people who don't understand awesome if it doesn't fit into an existing slot. And honestly. Tolkien loved languages so he created a bunch of them and also a history for being who spoke and developed the languages. He ended up doing pretty well with that endeavor :)

This is so impressive. You might look at it and see all the mismatching roads but to anyone else the accuracy of this phenomenal and very satisfying!
Your maps are incredible! Dont be disheartened by anyone's negative comments, because there are so many more positive ones! I used to draw maps of imaginary road works on motorways on sheets of A3 paper. It used to fascinate me how they redirect the traffic where they want around the construction crews and machinery. Engineering technical drawing paper is ideal for drawing, its somehow soft but crisp and allows neat lines to be drawn. Keep up the great work, I look forward to seeing more of your city! Maybe you could make layers to parts of your map, that show things like subway lines or how the water pipes flow under the city, a bit like in Cities Skylines.
As a pre teen my brothers and i (and sometimes even a friend or two) were drawing continuous worlds, cities and battlefields onto the back of old rolls of wallpaper. We sometimes drew over days to add even more detail in between our drawings before getting to the next section. It was fun times. The rolls of wallpaper are now lost to time, thrown away, maybe 10, 20 or 30 years ago. I had parents wo praised us for being creative, and for asking beforehand if we could use the wallpaper. My parents even brought new old wallpaper from friends. Although my dad was not so happy about us waisting our time with such things, he still supported our decisions. My parents did everything in their power to allow us to thrive.

I find your maps to be beautiful!! As a teen, I became obsessed with symetrical designs...where one side is a mirror image of the other. I would fill pages with them. I was dealing with isolation and it helped me cope. Over time, I did them less often but never really stopped. Then I took up Rosemaling, a Norwegian decorative art. One style that I love to do is Telemark, which involves symmetrical designs! I tell people it is my meditation, which it truly is.

Put together it is incredible, you are amazing.

This is so cool! The dedication and effort that went into this, the fact that you plotted a cohesive city entirely in notebooks, and all the little stories you poured into this make for a really compelling work. I have only had one collection in my life and it was of maps. P.S.: You've made me consider drawing a little map myself. They are great for getting to know a place, paying attention to its details. So mine will be of an existing city.
This is amazing!! I love how it all comes slowly together. It’s insanely epic!!
honestly i feel like you could put this in a gallery. the sheer time you put into this already makes in an invaluable artifact, add to that your skill....

Thanks, and it took me 2 days to install it on my wall, print it, order it, clean the wall, move furniture blue tack etc... It was so much fun and mum came to help too 😁
Cool! I used to draw maps for fantasy worlds all the time, though not at all as detailed as this. And dense! That's a huge city! You should get into gamedev map design or something, this kinda skill would be massively useful for sure dude! Keep it up :D

Yeah, I'm starting to realise I have some extra potential I haven't unlocked yet. But tbh I have seen some truly magical maps drawn by my subs too. Breathtaking
I want you to propose using this map to a video game developer. This is STUNNINGLY beautiful. When I was a teenager I used to have extremely vivid dreams, and I attempted to map out where they took place, though most of them were not 'real places' so they couldn't be given street names and all this detail. But I understand the need to see the bigger picture, as well as the tiny details of the lives of those living in that place in your mind. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this work of ART.
This looks soo fucking awesome!! Great job!
Wooo!!!!
Hell yeah, dude! I love this. ❤️
Thank you for this
This is amazing!
Absolutely badass map wall!!
I love your maps! Honestly your enthusiasm makes me want to try making maps as well! Keep doing what you're doing!
Keep up the great work :D
