that would work with a small box but, if you make this sort of puzzle on a large safe, the thief will be screwed. remember also that you can set alarms in case a thief tries to open it with the wrong moves. leave this note, or a similar one, near the safe: dear thief, here are stored my most valuable treasures. feel free to try but, be warned, to those that here seek what's not theirs, only despair awaits. enjoy the game.

Naah. When you’re on target, bullseye! I’m willing to bet that’s exactly what the designer intended.

There's a difference between a puzzle and a password. Puzzle gives you all the hints you need to solve it. Here, you need to know the sequence to open it beforehand.

Obviously not... because people figure it out in process. By your standard, no maze is a puzzle because there's only one sequence of correct turns that you can't know ahead of time.

This feels like something you would see in a Resident Evil game.

You know how things aren't always how they seem?

Over $450 US is insane for this box. You could get a really really nice Japanese puzzle box for that price or several smaller nice ones. Mine is like 12 moves, was less than $100, and is a solid well made box. I think its better than the one in this video anyways.

That’s a very clever use of a few simple mechanisms. I’m curious of two things; 1) is that the ONLY combination that opens it? It seems likely to me that the constraints that make the shuttle settle in the open position might also settle in that position from other sequences. 2) Can it be reset like an adjustable combination lock?

Another way to open it is by grabbing the box and then throwing it straight into the pavement, if it doesn't break do it again
