⚡️My Muse Reactions Playlist: • MUSE Reactions
In this video I react to Exogenesis Symphony by Muse from the Resistance Album, released in 2009. There are 3 sections to it: Overture, Cross Pollination, Redemption.
Hi, I'm Dean Wolfe, a classic prog-rock guitar teacher on KZread. I grew up on 70s progressive music but abandoned the genre by the 90s because it was too 'hard-edged' for me. My all-originals prog band was rejected by record labels as "too progressive' in the late 80s, so i went into grunge, pop and alternative instead (then folk and acoustic fingerstyle guitar).
2020 was the year of my return to prog and the discovery of 30 years of great music which I'd paid no attention to- until now!
I also will react to 70s and 80s prog that i overlooked, like gentle giant, camel, etc.

Still waiting patiently for Bellamy to get the acclaim he deserves. Up there with the very best musicians in history. The man is a genius!

I wouldn't say that it sounds like a computer song. Matt does vocals in unsustainable, the dubstep-soundibg riff is actually played 100% on his guitar. It's more like an hard industrial ambient song

There are really so many Muse songs I'd love to see reactions for, but I definitely wanted to add another vote for The Handler and for The Globalist. Also I'd love to see a video for City of Delusion- it's from the Black Holes and Revelations album, so I know you must have heard it a long time ago but it's tied with The Handler as my favorite Muse song and I think it would be a really fun one to revisit now that you've explored Muse a bit more.
Hey Dean, one more muse song lol there's do many and we muse fans get do excited to share especially with someone who knows music as well as you do, "apocalypse please" is a great progressive piano rock song, I've never heard anything quite like it! Silverchair : " tuna in the brine"
This is my first time listening to this, although its definitely not my first time listening to Muse. I think it sounds great but idk if this could really be considered one song. I can see the thematic and stylistic link between the parts but each one feels like a self contained song with a defined beginning and end. not like movements flowing into each other.
@jcompton8507
3 жыл бұрын
But it's meant to be like a mini symphony. And, to me at least, symphonies often have obvious starts and stops between each movement. I've been in audiences where orchestras have played, for example Holst's The Planets, outside of the normal concert hall to attract new (and younger) crowds. And when the movements have ended, the audience didn't know whether or not to clap before the next movement began - the break was that obvious...
Another awesome review/reaction, if you ever golin to do a full album reaction do Origin of symmetry, all I can do for now is subscribe and hit a huge like for you!

Love Muse. Please listen to I Live With You by Grizzly Bear.

Ooooooooh. I love Grizzly Bear. In comparison to the stadium rock or concert hall sounds of Muse, Grizzly Bear's songs almost sound like music around a campfire under a vast, starry sky. Not really, but Veckatimest is definitely a bit more low-fi than any of Muse's albums...other songs I love are Ready Able, Easier, On a Neck On a Spit, or Fine for Now. And Shields sounds like a soundtrack for a really awesome roadtrip. I especially would recommend Half Gate, Sleeping Ute, Sun in Your Eyes, or Speak in Rounds. My favorite song of Daniel's is with another of his bands called Department of Eagles called In Ear Park. His guitar work almost sounds like a harp to me. Grizzly Bear makes me think of wide open spaces, whereas Muse is like the coolest sci-fi.

@@jcompton8507 For music around a campfire, I love Midlake’s “Trials of Van Occupanther” and “The courage of Others” albums. Very beautiful, but rather sad too. Have not seen them live. For all other situations it has to be MUSE. What about “Bedroom Acoustics”?

I disagree. In order to completely lose yourself in the song as Dean does, you've got to have a similar environment to his (I'm assuming noise-cancelling) headphones. No offense, Dean, but I'm glad the non-covid cough was silent. 😉 I notice many commenters have said what environments they prefer to listen to music in- like cars, dark bedrooms, the woods at night/ campfire, etc. It really is important to one's ability to receive the sounds and meaning.

@@jennifer9047 What he is hearing should not be affected by keeping his mic on. Only difference is, if he says something, commenting on a part of the song, reacting in any way, we can hear it. It defeats the purpose of a reaction video to turn your mic off.
@jennifer9047
3 жыл бұрын
@@aaronmoen7402 That's why he does two parts. I like the fact that with his mic off in part one, WE experience the song as he does. And if he wants to say something, he has the captions, so as not to interrupt OUR listening experience. And then in part two, which is basically *immediately* after he listens we get to hear all of the fresh emotions and thoughts that are running through his head. As far as I know, he's the only reactor who does it this way, and that is special.
@aaronmoen7402
