I have a cousin who still studying in Russia. During the crisis, all universities in Russia were shut down and she couldn’t resume her studies. Then Malaysia sent a chartered flight (operated by Aeroflot) to Moscow and took back all Malaysians students back home and quarantined them for 14 days. The best part was right after they touched down in Kuala Lumpur, they were sent to all the 5 stars hotel in KL like Grand Millineum, Swiss Garden, Hilton etc for quarantine. They were provided with comfort suites, hotel food, a box of drinking water, entertainments etc. She told me that all the process went super smooth and professional. And days after that, I heard that the government also sent chartered flights to the UK, Egypt, Amsterdam, and Indonesia to transport the students back home. Kudos to Malaysia!

Malaysians came up with a lot of slogans during the pandemic to keep everyone calm and united. some of them : 1. "kita jaga kita" = we take care of ourselves. 2. "Kita mesti menang" = we must win 3. "Kita support kita" = we support each other.

Private and Government Healthcare is somewhat different but Malaysia is the No1 in Medical Tourism because you can get Full Care And Treatment with Top Specialists in Malaysia for among the lowest prices around the World. Cardiac Bypass surgery is only Rm75k in Private. For under Rm5k you can have Both Eyes cataract removed with new lense implanted or do LASIK for both eyes at that price. It cost USD5k to do cataract surgery in 1 eye... One eye!!! For Rm5k... can do both in Private Care meaning no waiting... walk in appt. And 4-5 star hotel standard wards. Full body MRI doesnt cost more than Rm3k some as low as Rm1.5k

I'm an American expat living in Malaysia and it's been incredible to see all this first-hand. There were two factors he didn't expand upon in the video that were extremely important. 1. Malaysia had legislation already in place to contain the spread of infectious diseases. Even better, it was written in a way that was easy to understand even if you're not a legal expert. All decisions referenced this legislation. They had a plan and they worked the plan. 2. As part of the plan, police were given a tremendous amount of power and responsibility. The police used this power for good and thus the public was able to trust them. With the climate in the US now and the much documented abuses of power, this wouldn't work in the US. I'm so thankful that police did their jobs, treated people with dignity, and didn't abuse their power.

Some of them have already been deployed to their new workplaces. So yeah I am truly one proud Malaysian. We're just relatively a tiny country but the hearts of Malaysians at large are huge as we really help each other regardless of ethnicity or religious belief as we adopted the hashtag #KitaJagaKita that basically mean "we look after each other".

Unless you’re a migrant worker. Malaysia treats its detained foreign workers like shit. Just recently, I donated some supplies to a woman who just gave birth in a detention centre. Diapers etc. They wouldn’t allow her to receive the items. Said she can only receive cash and buy items from the detention centre shop, where 1 Maggie cup noodle costs RM12, charged by our government. She had wrapped her newborn baby in one of the 2 t shirts she was allowed to have when she was detained. Malaysia is good in many aspects, but they treat detained migrants like crap. This is a fact. Also, there is a lot of urban poor that are struggling and our government housing is a joke. Dilapidated, no upkeep etc. I’m not trying to be a downer. But we are far from a perfect society with a genuine respect for human rights.

We have the best doctor, the best prime minister, and the best people, we may not know each other's name, but regardless of where we are or who we are, we are all united despite our differences, we stand strong, more unbreakable than alloy. After all that had happened, i began to appreciate our country more. I never thought that we would rise this quickly. Well done Malaysia, well done to all of us. Honestly i have never been this proud of my country. May this country continue progressing like this, we are doing GREAT!

For point no 2, when frontliners shortage of PPE, all the hospitals staffs and nurses (who are not dealing with covid19) must stay overnight just to sew the PPE in the hospitals. So one of our local fashion designer aware about this problem and she gathered all the designers to help the frontliners and volunteery sewing the PPE. The problems also viral in our country and some of the colleges/universities gathered their students to lead the hand too (they stay at universities and free food too) So now the nurses and hospital staffs no need to sew the PPE anymore.

The cashier asked my mother "where u guys coming from?" then my mom replied we are from Malaysia.. then the cashier replied back and said "where on earth is Malaysia"? Damn! Most of Malaysians and foreigners, are following the rules, adapting to the new norm.. everyone is queuing outside of the supermarket and scan qr code (or register manually).. our government announced the conditional movement control order to start on May 4th, and on the day it began, all shops were all ready with temperature scanners and qr codes for contact tracing... everyone is wearing face masks in public.. starting from 10/6-31/8 we will enter our recovery phase. A lot of people were actually very responsible during the COVID outbreak. The ones who tried to rebel were immediately held responsible by police and other citizens. It was quite nice to see how hands on everyone was during that time. The donations helped so much. I’d like to thank every single Malaysian that were responsible, generous and patient during these hard times. We are awesome👏🏻✨ #sayaanakmalaysia

Just to sharing here, our university students now are home and before went home, the university will sanitize them and one bus only fit for 15 people including a police officer and a officer from the University. And now we are studying online at home. All of them, from the kindergarten to university students. And some of our big exams were cancelled due to this pandemic. Some of our citizens are allowed to work but it's only limited for food factories and pharmaceutical companies. The government also give strict orders to those companies. We also have strict Hari Raya SOP. Only for the first day of Hari Raya, the government allowed us to bring guests to our home. But the limit was 20 people for one day. And we cannot went back home due to government order.

thanks for the credit to Malaysia.... how we gotten here was basically at this pandemic was spreading like wildfire everyone is guessing what to do and some politicians are trying to garner limelight but ended up saying the wrong things thus I believe a gap order was given to them, and our PM has given our Health Director General Dr Noor Hisham the thumbs up to lead, monitor, report, management and guideline recommendations. Malaysia gets a summary report on the status of the day everyday without fail. When Dr Noor took the stand thereon there were no further confusion as his recommendations were clear and unbiased, without any political agenda. For first time in Malaysia, (as far as I can remember), there was never a huge "project" undertaken in the country without political interference. He led and Malaysians trusted him as he spoke without fear and logical, thus everyone ( of course there are some bad hats). Right before the big festive ( Hari Raya) some politicians opened their gap again with their own opinion on how to handle the big festive and again they were shot down. Our Prime Minister and people of Malaysia have so much respect for him and of what he has done. Not forgetting, all his hard-working staff supported him throughout. Thanks to Dr Noor, all front liners ( medical, police, immigration, army, NGO, individuals, and all politicians that given Dr Noor Hisham " a free hand" to suppress this pandemic. And to the politician and Central Bank in designing various programmes to assist the citizens. You know something Amanda ! I have NEVER seen anything like this in Malaysia. Despite our current political arena which is very very very heated up even before the Covid 19 hit us...... Politicians (whether government or oppositionS) are all coming together in their own way to fight this Covid 19 together, and this I praise the maturity of our politicians and politics ( of course there are some big hats too) Finally, thanks to you Amanda for airing this in your channel.
