In case u havent heard of this, malaysians were or are still soo generous and concerned of the medic workforces, food donations were or are still haha flooding the hospitals. The hospital staffs just couldnt even finish it. Plus they’re so tight up to the duty hence less time for meals. Dats how concern malaysians are when food is involved. We need to feed one another. Food is lyfe here in my country. Im just hoping all hospitals receive similar reception from public donors

Talqin is like a sermon after the burial of the deceases in Islam, where the officer will read out a speech that contain prayer recitaion, speech reminder about the death to the people at the graveyard. Talqin can be as short as 5 minutes or until 15 minutes. Here, they cut the talqin to reduce the risk of infection. Just a burial and simple prayer recitation.

My daughter was a Covid-19 patient. She was infected either in the UK on during the flight home. I can only say that we were so sad when she was tested positive for it. Our hearts fell seeing her walking out of the house into the waiting ambulance knowing it might be the last time we saw her. We couldn't hold or hug her. Just waved goodbye from afar. Thank god she recovered in under a week after receiving great treatment from our Govt Hospital. We are truly grateful to all those involved and also to all the Malaysians who played their part in curbing this disease. Thank you too Amanda for all the kind words.

Saya sebak masa tengok tv, ada yang budak kecik, kena bawak naik van, sebab positive covid. Dekat rumah ni, ada adik saya yang ada masalah jantung. Sebab tu saya berjaga2 sangat. Siapa tak saya adik... Sejak berita kata covid ni tersebar dekat China masa hujung disember tu, saya dah prepare sebab nampak wabak ni macam akan tersebar jauh dekat CNY lagi. Saya start prepare mask 3ply dgn sanitizer. Beli sikit ja dulu bila perlu. Tapi utk adik ni, saya cari yang n95 atau setara. Dia stay dalam kampus. Masa mula2 MCO tu, kan macam tengah ada confusion students patut balik atau tak. Dia pilih balik. Guna public transport. Masa ni risaunya la saya. Siapa pesan macam2 dekat dia. Sampai2 ja dekat rumah, saya tahan dia dulu, nyah kuman dulu. Ada jugak la yang kata saya paranoid. Last2, rembat saya punya sanitizer dgn wet tissue jugak.

Thanks for showing the video, dear Amanda. It's shocking to see the reality of the epidemic for so many unfortunate victims. Such a sterile, cold, and lonely way to end a life, but I'm really touched by the way the Malaysians treat the remains. Unfortunately, this reality hasn't sunk in for so many. I live in Cape Town, South Africa, which has a soaring infection rate, and yet I see so many people in public shunning mask wearing and generally ignoring the rules. Then, we have the other side of the coin: a country that can't afford a lockdown (economically), and also can't afford NOT to have a lockdown....it will inevitably lead to so many deaths, and almost more importantly, lead to the loss of breadwinners. All I can hope for, and the signs are already there, is that this dreadful event brings out the best in humanity, and maybe get to reassess our values...

Hi Amanda, “talkin” is a religious recitation for muslim deceased after they have been recently being buried . Among others, those who come will seek Allah ‘s forgiveness for the deceased and also reminder to those who are still alive to play their roles as a good muslim. It is sunnah in Islam, which means not compulsory, therefore not being performed especially for covid 19 deceased.

Talqin basically is a form of a reminder for the people at the cemetery of the dead, of what is going to happen after you're buried. It is commonly done for normal burial as a last form of appreciation and notes for the family of the dead as well as the other attendees. As you can see no one, including the family members are able to attend the last meeting. Only the person that handles the grave yard. Sad indeed. Imagine losing your loved one and know you can't give a proper last message to them. Yes, in the midst of pandemic, anything that could cause further problems like covid19, it is encouraged and ruled not to do so.

In Islam, we believe that when you are dead, and burried, 2 death angels (idk the correct term) will come and ask you a few questions...talqin is what they read and remind the dead, not to be afraid and it also a form of prayer so that the dead will be blessed and protected by Allah. It is also a form of reminder to the people who are there to watch the burial, that mati itu pasti (dead is a must). May the covid19 pass peacefully and take no more life😭

Loves your reaction Amanda. This documentary is really an eye opener to what occured to the Covid 19 patients n medical n non medical practitioners behind closed doors. The continuous trauma all those involved have to endures days in n days out, facing uncertainty of living for all. It is a privileged indeed to present a dignified n compassion affront to the patients in their dying moments alone n bereft of tender care n loves from close families. Observing how they honored n treated professionally the deceased with dignity, compassion n respect even they are strangers are quite emotional. This documentary emphasized the lslamic perspective but others beliefs are treated equally as well. The writings on the casket said it all..from Allah we comes and to Allah we returns. Thanks ma'am for sharing yr emotional essence with us. To all frontliners all around the world, yr selfless dedication, tireless efforts to saved n bring comforts to the agonizing families n high sense of professionalism are greatly appreciated, God blessed.

Talqin is a series of short prayers in arabic that is usually made after the deceased is buried and before the families and friends leave the grave. Its more a cultural practice rather than a obligatory religious rite. It provides the loved ones a sense of closure and peace I guess that they have said their goodbyes. But because it isnt compulsory it has been done away with when managing the burial of the deceased to ensure as little exposure to the virus as possible.

To be honest, this is the main situation/reason that opened our eyes when dealing with Covid-19. Just imagine that you couldn't do almost anything even handling the deceased to the graveyard is forbidden to the family members. What we can do is just watching the process from far away. It might be the biggest regrets we had if we ignore every prevention steps that had been suggested. Like they said in the video, this war is still far from over. What we can do now is PREVENTION and this process need a TOTAL cooperation from all people. Please, please and please keep this in mind so that not just Malaysia but all country can achieve what we Malaysian achieve so far.

Kifayah is an act which the God requires from the collectivity of those morally responsible, not from each of individuals. Taking care of a deceased is a fard kifayah on the muslims, an obligation which if nobody doing it, everyone will be considered sinful.

Thank you Amanda so much, for highlighting the generous and compassionate spirit of many ordinary Malaysians. Wow. in fact two of the videos you featured one being here, I only watched it just now. For many years now Malaysia has been famous for quite a few unsavory scandals, to hear good news about other Malaysians from outsiders is such a relief and that many Malaysians were very spiritual to help so many more people and refugees. Really proud of the Director General, hope a movie can be made about him and the team behind him in getting the Covid situation under control. Think it could be a story worth telling.
