MST3K-Broadcast Editions: 311-It Conquered The World 08/24/1991

Комедия

The world premiere!
This is from the first few months of the newly merged and re-named Comedy Central as of June 1, 1991, after the ill-fated run as CTV: The Comedy Network.
Aired August 24, 1991 at 10:00 am.
Be on the look-out for commercials they'd later reference in the show. Want to see them? Sure, we all do! Read the book! Etc.
Check back here roughly every week-ish for more broadcast versions of MST3K episodes.
FYI, I'm always on the look-out for taped episodes with their commercials intact. Preferably March 1991 and earlier or February 93-October 93. I'll even pay for the things. Interested? Drop me a line!

Gotta love Tom Servo's reading of the blurb about "Shee-ing." That short makes one wonder not only if anyone *survived* participating in those events, but why everyone didn't just move to Florida! Oh, right: the main feature. Directed by... Roger Corman. So there will be no more action for the rest of the episode. I wonder... did that actor turn down a role on gunsmoke & get one on Mission Impossible? How cool would _that_ be? I like how in the 41st minute the lead couple witnesses an airplane 'splode; Then without remarking or reacting to it whatever, they return to discussing how her watch hasn't moved, as if _THAT_ is a much more important inconvenience. "Aww, why can't you let me take over the world, just once!" 1.20:00 This is the weakest version of "Alien Meets Invasion of the Body-Snatchers ever put to film." 123.17: Cripes; Paul didn't even _TRY_ to find out if the mind-control could be undone or reversed. _WOW!_ 1.33:00. Wait, are they trying to KILL people or mind-control them? They could have gotten her while she was sleeping, couldn't they? Sheesh! Lee Van Cleef's wife goes it alone _instead of_ taking Paul with her. Why? She's as poor a decision-maker as the director. "I think leaving him to be killed by my husband, who _told me_ he plans to kill him is a *much better plan."* Yoiks! Bullets penetrating them never kill any monsters or aliens in Corman films, _do_ they? & 'Paul' just keeps shooting first, asking questions never. (How _did_ she get outside)? Wait - Van Cleef _killed_ it? Not just wounded it: *_killed_* it? Riiiiight... Jeez, what a steaming pile of Corman this was.

The one thing that always ticked me off about Corman was that he has a good script (and writer in Chuck Griffith), good actors yet the "monster" is always this stupid thing as in the giant eggplant here. Or check out Wasp Woman and see the obvious mitten that is supposed to be human turned into a wasp lol.

I wonder if the opening was a reference to Jeff Dunham..ironic considering that he was once the highest watched and paid comedian on Comedy Central at one point. (Prolly in 2008)
