MST3K-Broadcast Editions: 204-Catalina Caper 04/27/1991

Комедия

This is from all the way back from the first month of the newly merged HA! and Comedy Channel. Its the short-lived CTV: The Comedy Network. They'd change the name to Comedy Central 2 months later.
Aired April 27, 1991 at 7:00 pm.
Be on the look-out for a young Jon Stewart in the commercials. Also watch out for commercials they'd later reference in the show. Want to see them? Sure, we all do! Read the book!
...Switch-Jimmy Smits!
Also, enjoy half an episode of Quark - it's terrible!
Check back here roughly every week-ish for more broadcast versions of MST3K episodes.
FYI, I'm always on the look-out for taped episodes with their commercials intact. Preferably March 1991 and earlier or February 93-October 93. I'll even pay for the things. Interested? Drop me a line!

How meta! The actually commercial that spawned the phrase "Jimmy Smits" in an actual MST3K commercial break! This is pure gold!

For everyone pointing out later riffs from commercials here, 34:07 Joe Weider's Protein Blast is mentioned in Zombie Nightmare (and i really coulda sworn it was Joe Weiner >.>) Also of note, the CTV announcer is Billy West, who voiced everyone in modern cartoons (half the cast of futurama, Stimpy from Ren & Stimpy, most incarnations of Robin, etc.)

I love these broadcast episodes with the old commercials. For fans of the MST3K Final Sacrifice episode, the incomparable Larry Csonka stars in a commercial at 18:13.

I laughed just as hard at the ad at 55:10 as I did at the "Do you have a history of epilepsy in your family, boy?" line during the Little Richard segment!

When I first saw this episode and heard Tom sing "Creepy Girl," I immediately thought, "Wow! Tom has a good singing voice!" Since then, "Creepy Girl" has become one of my favorite MST3K songs.
