    Almost 20 years ago, my mom, sister and I found ourselves in a hotel in San Diego, the day before my eldest brother's graduation from Marine Corps boot camp. Killing time, we were flipping through the channels and came upon some weird... nature documentary? We weren't sure at first. We then noticed three figures in the corner of the screen. The magic moment happened a few seconds later: "We'll make camp here." "Then dig our graves over there!" And that's how I discovered MST3K. This is the first time I've watched this particular episode since that fateful day. I credit this show with my oh-so-witty snark. I'll be forever grateful.

    “Come to us with these things” …. Mike’s skit was hilarious but so were the bots ruining it.

  • @rachelnoble5540

    @rachelnoble5540

    2 жыл бұрын

    I also enjoyed mike ‘s skit as well because not only was it hilarious it also shows your how hard he tries to be funny which to me he not only entertaining to watch he is funny in his own way but always gets shut down by Tom and Crow. Seeing him snapping at both of the robots for forcing him to watch their skits when to him they were not funny at all but were actually annoying to watch, He wants to explain why he does not like their skits but instead he keeps his mouth shut because in previous Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes the last times he explained to the bots why he did not like their skits they got very angry with him and still forced him to watch their skits whether he liked it or not, After that Mike quickly learned that in order not to deal with the wrath of the bots again in the near future was to keep quiet and watch the skit to avoid getting scolded and yelled at. Then when he tries to make his own skits they think that they are boring and unfunny. It’s really funny how Joel the first host of this show was a father figure to Tom and Crow since he built them himself and Mike is an Older Brother Figure to Tom Servo and Crow but At 25:00- 26:17 When Tom says “Hey Mike come over here honey?.”is what a mom would call her husband and children when she wanted to get them to stop whatever they are doing to have a talk about what’s going on with them as a family. Servo is the Mom , Crow is the Friend and Mike is Tom’s son. Tom Servo and Crow are not only younger brothers to Mike Tom is a combination of a little brother and a mom to Mike , Crow is the little brother/ overbearing friend to calm him down whenever he get angry or upset about something. This is the reason why I like Mike as the second host I like Joel too but Joel is more levelheaded and does not truly say how he feels about something he keeps it to himself. Mike on the other hand is very emotional, has a bit of a temper but is also very clumsy but he means well and even though he is not as calm as Joel is he is not afraid to speak his mind about something he disagrees with.

    Apparently, Adad's death was studio-mandated. She's a Sumerian character (never mind that the actress playing her is white as a ghost), and pairing her with John Agar's character was too close to portraying an interracial relationship for some of the 1950s producers. That's the Hays Code for you.

Let's make the plot include how a white man saves a race of beings different from him even though the ones beating them have more in common with the MC because he's an example of fairness and equality not to mention destroy the elitist world, but under no circumstances can you show a white man walk away with another white woman, sure she's Sumerian but you could call her an albino Sumerian, because that's just _too much._ I mean I sorta get the thinking but it's kind of ass backwards, then again it's not that different from some of the decisions studios and the MPAA/BBFC make today.

    @@fuhrersavior9575 Race in this case does not refer to species, but culture/skin color. She is psuedo Albino of her race, and back then holloywood took race mixing EXTREMELY poorly.

    Crow falling from the top of his cake is a favorite. I haven't worked out the math, but it's long enough to make me laugh. Also, Mike's "Oh my hips" as he asks for "just a skoch" of a mile-high cake is brilliantly subtle.

    If I had to rate this episode, I think it would definitely make the top 5. I know a lot of people will disagree, but Manos is their crowning achievement. It's number 1.

    I feel like "If you're going down into a giant underground cavern make sure that other people know what you're doing and where you are" is one of the things they teach in introductory archaeology courses.
