@@beccaiskenough17 for a good actor, you need to learn how to control the emotions and behaviors the viewer sees in you. If you're playing a role that has some sort of mental illness, as a good actor you'd research that mental illness and how someone with that mental illness behaves. Obviously that doesn't apply to modern sjw films and actors that care more about politics/affirmative action/diversity than actual skill and talent. All they care about is how much political bs they can shove into the film, they don't need talented actors.

This whole testimony is so entertaining. Especially when the lawyer tries to discredit the specialist because she diagnosed Amber in her notes with BPD/personality disorder without specifically using the word 'diagnosis'. Let alone saying that the specialists she had seen in the past didn't diagnose her - but that's because they don't use the diagnosis approach! I get that the lawyer is supposed to cram as much about the topic as they can into their brain within a short amount of time, but the pure arrogance to tell a trained professional they are wrong... Come on man 😂

To have someone exaggerate and manipulate is malicious. Luckily for us as she mentioned many of our protocols are designed to weed out those potentially malingering. most people don't really know what PTSD is. it's not being scared, it's not feeling sad, it's not even the memory of a trauma you have actually experienced. At least now we have some treatments that are working including nerve blockers and service dogs. You can do this. don't let people like her get you down. like most people she thought she could pretend she had PTSD because she thought she had learned everything she needed to know from a movie.

People do it all the time. Not necessarily ptsd, but things like "crippling depression". That's a term which gets thrown around like free candy. Bipolar disorder, borderline, just to name a few. People start to "diagnose" themselves. And they'll happily tell everyone who will listen. It always shines a bad light on those who are actually affected. Like, do self diagnosed "crippling depressive" people even come close to understand that it's not having a bad day, but weeks and months, until there is a single good day? Also: people tend to connect depression with suicide. Yes, it happens, no, suicidal thoughts and/or acts don't define it. Nor are people suffering from it sad all the time. Ptsd is a depression's big brother, and it's an asshole for sure. Yet, people actually suffering from it, will do their best to hide it.

Yes and no. Many illnesses, both physical and mental, coexist with other things. A person might have more than one psychological disorder that encompasses a myriad of symptoms, and likewise with physical ailments. For example, I have 6 different autoimmune diseases and diagnosed anxiety, PTSD & OCD. So I totally get your theory and it definitely can work, but I’d hate for people to not believe a genuine sufferer of something. Many things go undiagnosed as well so someone could say they have symptoms that don’t correlate with the diagnosis that they’re telling you, but it could be because they also have another condition or disorder that they aren’t even aware of themselves.

  • @michaelkeegan9260

I do this all the time at the hospital with people who i suspect are faking/ have an agenda. Someone might be homeless and looking for a place to sleep. They say they have chest pains. I ask additional symptoms not related to the symptom mixed in with genuine questions. Like, do you have palpitations when you have pain (genuine) do you get light headed (genuine), does your throat itch (fake), do you feel short of breath (genuine), what else hurts (mixed... The more places hurt the less believable) is your coordination affected during these episodes (fake)... Then on examination you rely on objective findings. Not is this sore? But rather involuntary reactions such as guarding or wincing, increases in heart rate, reflexes, clinical signs of pathology etc. Finally non invasive investigations like ecg or urinalysis. No one gets every single symptom of any disorder and certainly no over is coming for 3 or 4 simultaneous disorders. If the answer to everything is yes they are either a medical marvel or a liar. You then use further probing questions or rely on open ended questions where they talk themselves into contradictions to weasle out the truth. Eventually the clinical examination verifies things further. My point is that she is spot on. Reliable clinical testing tools in psychology and research on self reported symptoms have self validating steps. The same question disguised as another for example to root out liars.

Want to know what Johnny does that Amber doesn't? He actually reacts with human emotions to whatever is being said. Even if he's laughing and shaking his head in disagreement, he's still reacting. She tries so hard to maintain the same neutral expression, no matter how personal of a thing someone is saying about her. If she disagreed, she'd be shaking her head or blinking in disbelief - anything to show that it wasn't true. Not trying to hide it by staying placid, looking perpetually sad (like the first few days - funny how that's gone now), or distracting yourself so your face can't be read as easily. It's all such dishonest behavior and just makes it seem like she's hiding everything while Johnny is laying everything out there.

It is far from an exact science, and tests and symptoms get changed very often in diagnosing. In any way, neither Depp nor Heard are mentally 'normal'. Just think: if they weren't rich celebs, they would both be regularly in a psychiatric hospital.

That psychologist was AMAZING! Even her answers to the questions were seemlessly and fluently eloquent. Very specific and although brief but detailed at the same time. She was perfect on the stand! I was so impressed with how she was able to answer the question in the correct manner to HOW it should have been answered, whilst also acknowledging the incorrect manner the lawyer took to posing them. NGL, it was beautiful to watch! And made the lawyer look so incompetent. I mean, saying that writing BHPD isn't the same as writing DSM 5 Cluster B - THEY ARE THE SAME THING. I hope many people saw how ridiculous she looked; and not allowing the psychologist to explain the interpretation of one of her notes... the audible gasp in the court room had me with my mouth open! But she handled it with dignity, kept a cool head and still kept on track to explain the answers to the questions the lawyer posing in a twisted manner. Just stunning viewing!

Men are not believed because they're men, and physically stronger so it's literally like Amber said to him 'you're fine!'. Well yeah he'll live, while men attacking women could kill them. That doesn't mean it's okay. But that bit doesn't seem to have gone through the thick skulls of many people yet. They for some reason still believe men can defend themselves (how though?) and they have nothing to worry about (as if physical abuse is the only kind of abuse? - to be fair, a LOT of people do not understand what abuse looks like, and will forget about emotional abuse entirely.) Meanwhile lots of women who have been victims and have worked hard to make progression in help and support is going to be ruined by fucking Amber for being the abuser instead, after claiming to be the face of abuse victims. She's pissing on everyone who are actual victims, just to monetize the shit out of it for personal gain. Even though I wish this shit to nobody, especially not Johnny, if he wins this might be a win for a lot of people. A win for men to realize they can be abuse victims too. And they can be heard. And I hope this all brings all victims together regardless of gender, to no longer look at it as 'men against women' as it's often portrayed. But abuse victims, like they are.

I've seen that happen with emotionally volatile people -- they spin lies and narratives so intently that they take what might have been a tiny kernel of truth (that she was unhappy in the relationship) and twist it around so much that they actually convince themselves of the alternative ""truth"" (that JD abused her). She's angry because she's in denial. AH wants to believe so badly that her version of the story is correct that she doesn't know how to handle when it's exposed.

In my case (and I am not diagnosed as I don't have the funds for a psychiatrist. But it lines up so well with what I have suffered) my parents were extremely emotionally neglectful, and there were times where even physical abuse was present and, more often, verbal abuse. It still affects me to this day, and I get flash backs once in a while to those moments in my life that my brain tries very hard to suppress. It has happened to me many times now, and there is always time in between them where my brain attempts to suppresses the memory again, only for it to come back as a flashback. It's horrible, just like any trauma
