Honestly, I thought that was ridiculous. I went to a couple job interviews, and even the worst places offered me some water to drink. I'm talking about minimal wage jobs, retail. On another interview for a better job, I was offered a cup of coffee. It's pretty common to offer something relatively small on job interviews. What that small thing is depends on the people involved and the job itself. I don't see anything odd about that small thing being a dinner when it's a high-profile celebrity with plenty of money to spend that's trying to hire a professional with 15 years of experience for an important and personal job. It's nice of JD, but also seems pretty normal given the circumstances.

I think what makes it funnier is that at one point when Dr. Curry says that what the lawyer said is incorrect, she replies with something along the lines of "that's how YOU understood/saw it" implying that Dr. Curry is wrong in what she thinks, therefore, she, the lawyer, is correct, even though Dr. Curry says that she's incorrect. And then she follows up with this. Even though it's a clear speculation and people object, she thinks she should be able to ask it because she doesn't think it's speculation. So on one hand, what Dr. Curry thinks is insignificant and shouldn't be taken seriously because she just thinks wrong, but what the lawyer thinks should be accepted and taken seriously because that's what she thinks. Being “board certified” does not mean not licensed. It is a different category all together, and there are not a lot of board certified psychologists, you can be a DOCTOR of psychology and not be board certified. And some board certified psychologists are not necessarily great at therapy. It’s just another accreditation to hang your hat on, but by no means necessary for the job. Just throwing it out there.

This lady is badass! Wayyy beyond just her career.. she has an attitude, but not in a bad way. She’s polite, and gets her point across in a very classy manner. Even when this ding dong lawyer is trying to make her slip up or look stupid, she talks facts and stays composed.. I would have lost my coconuts.

It's in my experience that generally the "smarter" someone is, the less objective they are in their reasoning. That honestly makes sense too, if you think about it in **most** settings. You trained your mind to be able to score an A on a paper, but while doing so, you conditioned yourself into going along with what ever evidence you are presented at the time. I'm not saying to not believe factual evidence, but the conundrum about facts is that often times in many subjects, they're amended in small ways as our understanding on the topic evolves. Essentially, it's very easy to be a top student or graduate from a school while have fallen into a linear way of thinking...or in other words, becoming close-minded because your whole world is ruled by factual evidence that speaks to your confirmation bias, even if other evidence that is **also factual** has grounds to counter what you chose to believe in. It's a super complex philosophical topic

@@itskeeler21 Most of that would be psychological topic rather than a philosophical topic. The method of determining valuable information would be philosophy, but the training to a linear mind set would be psychological topic rather than philosophical. It's difficult to agree with what you say, due to the subjectivity of "smarter" as well as a generalization of nebulous category of individuals. There's clear and obvious anecdotal examples that confirm a similar scenario to the one you depict, but its a very messy generalization that has many counter-examples as well. Rather I believe your generalization of linear thinking applies to every category and group of individuals, and there isn't a correlation between perceived intelligence and objectivity, just that those who seem "smarter" aren't directly called out for their non objectivity.

I am a RN in The Netherlands and one day when talking to my colleagues (during one of my internships years ago while I was still in studying) about the stupidity of some doctors and nurses and someone said something I'll never forget. They said "In every graduating class of doctors/lawyers/nurses etc. there will always be one that was at the bottom of his/her class that did just enough to get to graduate". Go back to your own education and tell me you did't have that one classmate who you thought wouldn't make it and ended up just barely graduating as the one with the lowest grades. It's the same with every occupation. I know there are nurses out there that graduated with me that I never thought would make it and they barely passed but I would 100% not let them care for any of my loved ones. I realized that if someone graduated as top of the class then somebody graduated as bottom of the class and that is true for doctors, lawyers and other occupations that you just don't want to think about anyone barely graduating and still be able to practice law or medicine.

also i love how the lawyer asks questions and even when the psychologist is like "no" or "that's incorrect" she continues as if she admitted to it being correct. such misplaced confidence. it's like she's not even listening to her but still trying to get that mic drop moment
