He was the exact opposite when he started, he was extremely chill and very much like Morj. I don't have any preferences tbh for which style and I do watch both of them, but the negativity of Morj really hurting his views. Also Manu's new style is definitely more eye catchy and I also think it's more sustainable. There is only a finite amount of time to do an analytical video and being successful each time, but doing a hype video that can appeal to the millions? I think that is far "easier".

It's a good point about negative framing of Morj's videos, and ironically the content of his videos end up being pretty positive. Eg. "This is why X is not going to happen, but instead Y will happen which is much better and more interesting because themes, story structure etc." I wonder if by framing his thumbnails/titles more positively he could get away with not changing his content at all and still managing to grow his channel

Honestly, Morjs videos are so incredibly valuable. I highly recommend watching some of his analysis videos, like "Why Enies Lobby is peak One Piece". His analysis is crazy good and I couldn't believe how many layers of symbolysm this show has that I missed. Yes, being all positive and hype about One Piece is a lot of fun. But for me, it's infinitely more interesting to understand WHY One Piece works so well, why it makes you feel the way it does and what it actually is that Oda is trying to communicate through this massive story. And nobody has a better grip on it than Morj. He truly understands what makes One Piece great and isn't afraid to criticize decisions or turns in the story that are contrary to some of the show's essential themes. Like his video titled "If Luffy is Joboy reincarnated, we have a problem". The point he made in this video evolved primarily around the idea of destiny on the one hand, and free will on the other hand in One Piece and how a simple "Joyboy reincarnation Luffy" would go against many things that Oda has built around the ideas of destiny and free will, at the same time explaining these concepts on an analytical level. Morj isn't just showing you that One Piece is great, he is explaining WHY it's so great and it made me appreciate it a thousand times more. It honestly changed my whole perspective on storytelling. Thank you Morj!

Morj is the sole reason I started following OP youtubers, because I wanted to find out other perspectives on One Piece's writing. I started finding a pattern on One Piece fights so I googled if there was someone who analyzed them and found his One Piece Fight analysis video. It was mindblowing how many things that Oda was putting a lot of thought on was just going past the readers. So I started watching more of his videos and then branched out. Unfortunately, there really wasn't a lot of other channels that had a good grip of One Piece's writing. I still followed them since I enjoyed them, but I always find myself going back to Morj to get his opinion on the story. Also,

I appreciate Morj not treating his audience like children who need entertainment. I understand the appeal of lightning pace "hype" videos, but it just feels ancillary to reaction content for me. I'm more interested in thoughtful analysis and discussion from someone who is familiar with both literature as a whole and One Piece specifically. Hopefully Morj doesn't change his content to appeal to a more general audience - I already like One Piece enough to listen to someone discuss its theme and structure, even critically. Yes, completely agree. It's fine to have videos that mainly appeal to a niche audience because then those audiences are getting exactly what they like. Not everything needs to cater to a large audience because then you can get softer analysis or more clickbait titles and themes, or whatever else draws in more views. Grand Line Review seems to have gone in that direction which is fine but broader mass appeal doesn't mean your content got better

I understand why he stopped, but I found that those were the videos from him I enjoyed most and I watched him less and less when they were gone. I still watch Morj regularly and think his content is superior, but I understand why the OP community would want to gravitate more towards celebrating the series rather than putting it under a critical lense. Yet even though Morj is critical, he still spreads love for the series in his own way.

Did you read the famous twitter rant of Mr. Morj? No much positivity there, he slammed Wano by saying that everyone who praised the current saga was praising an arc with no story, no narrative and no stakes. Sincerely, it seems to me that the negativity that comes from his recent titles are coming from his inner dissapointing thoughs about Wano and the path that Oda choose to tell his story. And he's not telling all his thoughs maybe because fear of a harsher backslash.

  • @thehakiguy7006

@@DarkChaos1986 I’m familiar with that rant. It was pretty toxic, there’s no denying that. I think that stemmed from him seeing people who he saw trash the Tobi Roppo fights when they happened now say they never had a problem with them, and he got carried away after that and started making generalizations. My take away is that Wano has not delivered on what he appreciates the most about the series, but even recently he praised Gear 5 and the chapter preceding it highly. He even gave them positive titles instead of negative clickbait ones. I think he just wants more of the dread and hopelessness we got in 1043, because for him that would make the final victory that much better.

Personally, that's what I prefer. Which is why most of his predictions about Wano have come true. . I love to know how much thought Oda pit into his character's arcs and themes more than knowing what a monkey is pointing at in a color spread. I really hope Morj ignores your advice and sticks to what he's doing 😂😂😂😂. Very few people treat one piece as a masterfully crafted piece of literature as much as him. To go against the whole negativity thing with Morj. I can't remember who but some youtuber was talking about the ways to succeed on the platform, and the 2 main methods is to do something better than everyone else who is doing it, or to do something no one else is doing. I feel that Ohara and Morj are taking each side of that. No one else is taking this negative failing idea, and that's how Morj stands out. Channels freaking out and praising what's going on are a dime a dozen, and they have to stand out with their character and production, while Morj stands out for the uniqueness of his content. TLDR: Ohara is successful because he is arguably the best at what he does, whereas Morj is successful due to no one making the same content as him.

I wish my normal friend group was as stoked on one piece as all you guys haha.

Morj's videos being "negative" is almost why I watch them? It subverts expectations. He usually says something completely redicuous in the title. It almost seems like clickbait but then backs it up somehow. Ig I'm not in line with the majority of people. You also didn't mention how Morj's videos seem to talk about things only seasoned One Piece fans would care about whereas Ohara talks about more general theories. Ohara rarely talks about current events whereas that seems to be all Morj talks about

Mr. Morj's Marineford video is really good I think! However you do kinda make a good point about the positive vs negative thing now that I'm thinking about it. I'm actully subscribed to all the content creator's being discussed in this video and I feel like everyone kinda brings there own thing to the table so to speak.

Well said my guy, I like both of their content and have been subscribed. Ohara is more upbeat and fun while I'm rolling my eyes just by the titles of Morj's videos 😂 I love how he stands firm but somebody please get him counseling when the raid succeeds!

Sawyer7 is the best op youtuber by far. But no one mentions him. Including other op youtubers.

I love Swayer as a person and his reviews are fun but he has never ever gotten a theory right 🤣 whatever he predicts is pretty much guaranteed to not happen, bless him hahaha

Sawyer is not full-time youtuber. He is busy at work. Hence less participation is my guess.

@@adoniscreed4031 that's like 90% of op youtubers anyway. Who has gotten a theory right ever? Oda is unpredictable af. Atleast morj doesn't have absurd theories like kol and tekking etc. Still it makes for great content to laugh at later.

I tend to be very critical of Morj's videos and sometimes even criticise in the comments section but even after all that i still keep going back to his analysis cuz it's just that good, makes me think alot

I honestly have known the both of then since when Ohara used a masked fox as avatar and Morj had just revealed his face. A that time (around year 2018), their analysis videos were much more brilliant and good-old-fan oriented (with a slight preference for Morj's), rather than the current big-money-making policy production. Sayonara to both, you did give me one piece emotions before theories videos.

I watched Mr. Morj since his early days. I think I'm here before 10k subs. His analysis videos were short and concise. I only learn about Ohara when they did Wano Report.
