    I mean, in theory that’s not wrong. Your forward momentum is allowing the air passing beneath you to hold you up, generating lift. But that’s just broad strokes. It’s another step entirely to go from there all the way to building a plane or reapplying that knowledge.

  • @incinemvs

    @@ZhongliArchonofSwag I know that I’m kind of restating what you said, but I just want to re-emphasize it because I really don’t like when people undermine the knowledge and experience of professionals of any profession. While what he said technically made sense in that tweet, nobody is justified in saying that with the ignorance that he had. You can read up on something or hear what a profession is about and what it entails, but that in no way promises that you’ll be able to do it yourself all of a sudden, or that you’ll have equal insight on it as actual professionals do.

  • @jimm60701

    @jimm60701

    @@ZhongliArchonofSwag you kind of messed up your point though, that's not actually how a plane generates lift. You're close, but air passing under the wing doesn't "lift it up", in fact if it were only passing under the wing it would do the exact opposite. The shape of the wing is designed to encourage movement *over* the wing. Of course, air does still move under the wing, that's unavoidable, but it's the faster moving air over the wing that is responsible for the lift. I don't work in aircraft design or anything, and I'm certainly not going to pretend I could build a working airliner with this knowledge, but I thought it worth pointing out.

  • @Broockle

    @Broockle

    I heard that's a lie. There's a video from Neil deGrasse Tyson who put it super simple. It's a mix of conservation of momentum and angle of attack. The wing is blasting against the air molecules and impart their momentum to the wing. With the angle of the wing you can then direct this normal force to go straight up or diagonal.

  • @ignasicortes8481

    @ignasicortes8481

    @@Broockle granted, but the normal force occurs in the first place because of the pressure difference. Higher angles of attack cause greater pressure differences, increasing lift (however high angles induce massive drag as well, so it’s a fine balance).

    I astonishes me how confidently people will assert that they understand a field when they really only have scratched the surface. Actually, it sort of has a name "Dunning-Kruger effect" (famous example is a guy who put invisible ink on his face then robbed a bank without a mask because he was sure he wouldn't show up on the camera). Combine that with people who will dig in rather than admit being wrong and you have potential for some really terrible interactions. I personally have had people complaining to MY CITY COUNCIL about things the don't understand on this level, so I've been in this fight before, with my job on the line. The worst thing is that it almost always is a no-win scenario, just a lot of frustration and wasted time Great video from a dude in a room

Anyway after observing me work for a few minutes my frenemy boldly declared that electrical work is simple and that even a monkey could do it. That made me fume with anger because he was an arrogant douche bag who had no idea what he was talking about. I exposed his lack of knowledge by asking him how he would connect a light switch to a light if it was such a simple job that even non human primates could do? He outed himself as being less capable than a monkey at something. congratulations Vugnell , you played yourself that day.

Joe on the other hand needs to really do a double take on himself, criticizing other people’s job and telling them what to do, while not having the slightest clue what he is talking about. No, the Twitter algorithm isn’t the same as KZread, no subscribers don’t equal views, and the bigger your channel and content gets, the more you have to expand and the harder it gets. You have to keep an audience entertained, and if that includes, making a dumb title and thumbnail, that one may call clickbait, then it’s just the way it is

    Liam, this was quality content and I'm happy I could listen to it on my drive home from work. I felt this video in my very being. I'm a very logical person and can't stand people like "Joe" that compulsively put forward false "facts", refusing to admit they were wrong when proven otherwise out of some sense of pride or embarrassment. Your pettiness was just the right amount. If you're going to be an ass to someone publicly, you have to make it humorous and you nailed it. I think the only thing you missed was demanding him to cite his sources for the "publicly available KZread mechanics". Then when it is unofficial, or he can't do that either, there is even more ammo to throw back in his face.

    Yes! I'm not entirely sure what the breakdown is, but the creators you watch get a small small share of what you pay for premium to replace the impact of ads. KZread even tells me exactly how much revenue comes from premium users. It's not a lot, but it's an intriguing statistic.
