My Grandma has a 1995 Western Power Hardware Wizard riding mower and it still runs great 😃

This was back when they built these things like actual industrial grade farm tractors

Damn straight. No deck engagement cables that go bad. Steel rods. Industrial grade engines. Steering's that don't toe out and stay relatively tight as long as you don't go hulk on them, dash, steering shaft bushing that I never see worn. Thicker steel all around, little plastic and the plastic that is used is like nylon it doesn't crack up.

My mower looks exactly like that one, except it's a rare Hydro, 12.5hp, 38" cut. It's been an awesome mower so far. I've had it for about 10 years, and it's still running pretty good all things considered. It has some steering issues though. it's mega hard to turn. I don't know if these specific Craftsman mowers had issues with their steering or what it was. I remember a neighbor of mine having this same tractor that you have Mr techumseh, and he had issues with it's steering too. Also, can you put another steering wheel on them? The one that's on mine is so flimsy, and i'm afraid it's gonna break off lol.

No more than the gen 2's and 3's do. They all have their good points and bad points.. They usually get messed up when people go hulk on them or ride em like their race cars. I suppose you could use any AYP wheel, they all go on the same. Mines still tight and I won't be abusing it so it will be around a long time.

....and there is basically no difference in power. In fact the L heads have lower end torque.
