Step by step home-grown and home-made pickling demo PLUS 3 essencial tips on what to do to assure an abundunt cucumber harvest out of your backyard garden. This is my personal recipe to make extra yummy pickles: I add sweet peppers, tomatoes and arugula to the usual cucumbers (becides garlic and all the spices). That adds extra flavor to the pickles.

Hey there, thanks, and I hope your pickles will come out wonderfully right and tasty. My jars would last thru the whole winter well into May... Some got a little fizzy, or a bit cloudy, but I don't mind that and enjoy eating them even if a bit fizzy or cloudy. The main thing - if it tastes good, there is good bacteria in the jar! As always, the key is cleanlyness. Wash your cucs, wash the jars and lids thoughrouly, boil the salt solution you will be pouring into the pickles. That's why I double boil it... Good luck!
