Great video, I was given a Morgan experience by my wife recently. I’m into cars but never even considered them as an option…. Until I hired one.! It was so engaging, unique, loved by passers by - quite a different experience to driving a 911 for instance! The technology doesn’t match up but as you say the raw driving experience with no aids really justifies itself, and the beautiful curves and time honoured looks make it attractive to look at. I now want one!

Thanks Roger for a review which encapsulates the spirit of the Plus 4 for potential drivers and owners. I hired one twice from the factory in Malvern - strongly recommended for at least a weekend not just a day. Then I had a week in one last summer (2019) to celebrate my birthday - 800 or so fantastic miles up to Northumberland and back. So in March this year, after two year's searching, I bought a 2006 Plus 4. It's all you say it is - engaging, beautiful and fun, lots of fun. Yes, you still need a 'sensible' car; ours is an old Honda Accord Estate with all the boring stuff like cruise, EBS, ABS, auto wipers, etc etc snooze snooze. The Honda does share one good thing with the Morgan - leather heated seats, definitely a worthwhile extra on the Morgan, but whilst it is enjoyable and totally practical, it doesn't make me smile when I drive it; the Morgan does. I'm not sure about the new Plus Four with the BMW engine and the revised suspension though. It looks right but it has a new-fangled handbrake, various electronic bits and pieces, and quite a few seem to be autos! What? Auto? Not for me, having driven many autos, I like to be in the right gear not the one which the gearbox thinks I should be in.

Great summary, it encapsulates what a Morgan is all about. I retired last year and after many months of reviewing Morgan's, I secured a 2007 Plus 4, it is everything you mentioned, great fun, reliable, reminiscent of how cars used to be, not ABS etc., you have to think ahead rather than rely on electronics to fix problems. It is a high days and holidays car, we have the obligatory estate for the shopping and winter weather.

Hi Roger Enjoyed your video,I think you captured what Morgan ownership is all about. We have owned 3 Morgan’s going back to 2003 bought a Plus 8, then had to buy my wife a Roadster (as I would rarely let her drive my car). Many enjoyable years within the Morgan fraternity including competition use in Hill Climbs & Sprints. Then decided to up the game and traded both of those cars for an Aero 8, as we were looking for a little more comfort for long distance touring in Europe. However the Morgan dream ended when I tried a Carrera 4 S Cabrio, the Morgan departed. However if any one is tempted into Morgan motoring they will not regret it. Morgan’s are like Marmite, you love it or hate it.

That's an absolutely beautiful classic car and you did a brilliant job in showing it in a lovely countryside. I would love to own a Morgan plus 4 but I'm afraid I will have to dream on !

Nice one Roger we occasionally see one up here in Northumberland and also some kit versions of similar styles but if you have arthritis I have heard that the suspension is brick hard so it wouldn't work for the likes of myself but enthusiasts who are fit would love it. Smashing good looks though😊

Hi Roger what a fantastic car. Hired one from Morgan for the day last year and enjoyed every second. I love classic cars and own an MGB but the Morgan gives that classic look and feel but with modern reliability. Shame I cannot afford one. Thanks for sharing. Jeff

Enjoyable video. Has helped me with my decision making process about whether to buy one of these cars. Although the Plus 4 has been made for 70 years, I think a newish one will suit me better due to my very limited mechanical knowledge!

I bought a 1980s Morgan which I got running beautifully (cheque-book🥺), but as I have no mechanical knowledge and loved the car so much I swapped it for a new one instead

Recently acquired a 2011 plus 4 and I am smitten!

I bought a 2006 Plus 4 in early 2020 - aren't they wonderful?!

You might think me mad Roger, but the new new Morgan Four was on my short list to replace my 718 GTS. One of the main reason for not going down that route was the PCP (with must have extras it was not a good deal despite the core car residuals) and the new BMW engine needed a £2000 sports exhaust to potentially sound as I think it should. Despite that I would recommend you comparing the new Four and doing a video on it. So what have I decided - well my nice Porsche dealer gave me the keys to a 992 Carrera (with sports exhaust of course) and despite having previously loved a Vantage test Drive, the decision was made when I was told that on PCP the Carrara S could be mine for within a few pounds, the same money as the standard Carrera. I have not even driven the S but know the Flat 6 450 bhp is the car for me. Now all that is left is the colour choice and the build wait list. Enjoy your videos so please do keep up the good advice and drone footage.

Wonderful review Roger, the filming & soundtrack are par excellence. Many times I’ve pondered owning a Morgan. As a young man I was involved in the restoration of several. The only downside for me is the lack of luggage space, so the Porsche won’t be going anywhere yet. Then again as well as rather than instead of ............ hmm 🤔.

To me the Threewheeler has always been the Morgan that looks the most fun to drive. The Plus4 however is the model that first comes to mind when I think of the brand. I remember chasing one on by bike some years ago. Morgan is a brand for passionate drivers, the way they continued to build and evolve their cars over the years is just incredible. Really loved the review Roger! Now just get your hands on a Threewheeler and tell me if I'm right about the fun factor ;) Cheers

Great review and insight. Here’s a question to the knowledgeable Morgan enthusiasts. I want to buy one for the odd short tour, Ireland etc not the world. I have an option for a 17 model with the Ford GDI engine or a later BMW model, I know there are a lot of upgrades and differences but is there 25k worth of difference and extra fun

Roger, do hou think the plus fout is still à Morgan?

Please could you give me your view on whether it is worth getting my recently purchased 2017 Cayenne GTS PPF’d. I’m not sure how vulnerable they are to stone chips for instance? Ps love the content you provide Roger, just wish it was more regular 👍

thanks Christopher, I have a mixed view of ppf, having had plenty of cars and not ever fitted it, I've saved myself a few thousand pounds and not ever had any issues particularly at resale time. I'm aware many owners will disagree with me of course !

My Morgan came from the factory with stone chip protection film, and I added ceramic coating to it would highly recommend that

Roger - where are the bumpers, side lights and 9 pin hood?

You should review mine Roger, it’s the last Morgan +4 registered in UK, (authentication letter from Morgan), contemporary spec🤷🏻. I think you would be the only KZread reviewer that would appreciate it.

Nice video. Other than a little extra in cost, is there a downside do you think to the V6 models of the 2004-2019 period? 4-cyclinder 2.0 engine is probably enough given the old school handling, and lightweight of the car. But I wondered what led you to this particular choice. Thank you.

I have a 3.7L V6 Roadster. Prior to that a Rover 2L engined Plus 4. Needs to be treated with respect. Not quite as easy to throw around bends but the amazing torque makes up for that in many ways.

Porsche Carrera It’s the previous model. The new one has the word four on the back rather than a 4.

is it not lovely, I am not sure morgan should have changed with the new model

I don't think they sell these here in Canada. If they did I would pass on it as it doesn't have all the safety features that I would want.

I watched The Thomas Crown Affair with Steve McQueen this morning. The start of your video sounded like the music in the film :-))... The Plus Four is certainly a great mix of old and new. Abit like some... Err... Car presenters on KZread? Maybe... :-))... However, I'm just surprised that they haven't had to change its name yet in keeping with this new demographic of "Everything about the UK's history and culture is bad" because it evokes the British aristocracy for wearing Plus Fours when out hunting, golfing et al which is now considered so, so bad. ;-))... Err... A little bit worrying for me was the very short snippet @8:14. Who was driving!!?? :-((... And at the end, @8:46. I hope that the cyclist was not the "Blonde Stalker" having to cycle and fly your drone as you drove past?? :-))... A truly great video Mr. Bailey. Your No1 Stalker :-))...

Thanks. But why must we satirize ourselves, as a nation ? Why always this self-conscious nationhood ? I don't see it displayed from any other nation. It should just be review as a contemporary car, and mention in passing the obvious uniqueness.
