I called into Morgan for a couple of parts for my boss's car (late 80's). The store man was a lovely chap and invited me to take a walk around the factory. I spoke to lots of the shop floor staff, who were free to chat and answer my questions. I loved the place, but It was the people who made my visit extra special. To top it off, Peter Morgan signed my copy of an Odhams book on Morgans I bought from the stores. Fantastic!

I have been in the factory. On holiday we saw a beautiful Morgan with the driver in it. He gave us the advice to visit the factory, 1 hour driving. We came there at the exact right time, I think it was 2 o 'clock afternoon. No reservation, a group of American people already waiting for the factory tour. We told how we came there, no problem, we could take part of the tour in the factory. One of those days you never forget in your live! The factory was unbelievable, working with wood, the steel, all by hand. If I had the money I would bye a Morgan. A dream car, like my visit was!

I've seen a number of Morgan works tours over the years (and visited the works in 1984) and this was one of the better ones. Congratulations to all involved in the planning and execution of this video. It was especially nice to see Nigel/ his father built the coachwork on my '63 Plus Four.......

Great Morgan video. It makes you appreciate a Morgan even more hearing and talking about their place in making a Morgan. 😍😍

Love your show, but sometimes the sound is quite faint, particularly when outside making it difficult to hear you clearly.

That doorway has been rebuilt several times mate !

Watch your sound levels. You can buy a wireless button microphone at a very decent price these days..

Not my choice, just a finacila investment im not prepared to make until we get more revenue. Bit of a chicken an egg situation unfortunately, but we do have a professional camera crew for the high end vehicles, you should check out some of them and let me know what you think of their sound quality?

I agree but they wouldn’t even stop the compressors for 5mins whilst filming...dedicated or what!

So what exactly is the point of fabricating the chassis components out of wood? I have a great deal of affection for wood as a building material, and build and own wooden boats constructed using modern epoxy bonding and impregnation techniques. But boats are complicated, curved 3 dimensional shapes, and I don't see anything about the Morgan chassis that couldn't be duplicated at a lower cost with a welded subframe assembly along the lines of a Caterham 7. These cars cost a great deal of money because of the tremendous amount of handwork required to build, among other things, the wooden chassis. I love the look of these cars, and appreciate the fine workmanship that goes into the bodywork and interiors, , but don't see why the chassis can't be made in a more efficient manner with a view to bringing the price down so more people could afford to own one.

The chassis are all metal, only the body frames are wood, so your comments seems a little pointless. They are expensive to make, but you could always buy a standard tin box.

@@JeremyEdwards996 Indeed they are, sorry, my bad. Found a video with a complete overview of the building process. Now I understand which components are wood, and which are not. I do wonder what steps are taken to weatherproof the wood before the body panels are fastened on. If I were doing this I would be inclined to give the frame members a sealer coat of epoxy. Do they do this?

@@seayak Good point, Bruce. The ash body frame is dipped in wood preservative before the steel or aluminum body panels are attached.

A steel tube substructure, the Italian method, causes galvanic reaction with subsequent corrosion between the dissimilar metals. A problem with Caterhams.

The chasis is made out of aluminium, there is no wood involved in that part of the car. Wooden chasis is a myth and certainly makes no sense for this use.

lighting is bad and so is sound you need a clip on lapel mike not the best filming but an excellent subject the morgan motor company!

Thanks for the comment. We tried the clip on mike but the ambient sound in the factory was horrendous so we went with the directional as the lesser of two evils

You British ruled India could have made a factory here 😂 and we have cheap labour too
