    Thanks, Cody, I've not played the PR12 but from what I've read the JS is basically the same amp with a little bit less bass and a boost switch. The speaker, of course, is a Josh Smith sig Eminence.

    Hey Shawn crazy great playing! Was wondering if youd recommend the JS12 or a fillmore 50 for fat clean tones and good drive. I'm looking to replace my princeton reissue. The master volume on the Fillmore seems appealing for home playing. Let me know what you think!

    Thanks for watching! I honestly don't have any experience with the Fillmore 50 but I do understand the need for a master volume for sure. The JS 12 is a standout amp and would certainly be ideal as a replacement for the Princeton.

    Great playing! Of the Morgan combos, which do you think would be the best as a P&W rig? I am looking for a very spanky, sparkly clean platform with a lot of headroom ie. all overdrive will be done via pedals.

    Thanks for the demo. Any thoughts on an amp like this or the pr12 for an es339. I'm looking for buying a really nice amp to compliment the 339. I like creamy leads nice breakup. Mellow but sparkly cleans. I wanted to know what your experience for some higher end amps like a Dr Z, or Morgan, or fender princetons that might sound good with an Es339. Not trying to spend 2k on an amp I might not like for my 339 haha. Hard to really get a good idea of boutique amps when no good guitar stores are around. Thanks. Also wondering on how the breakup is when you have to turn up volume a lot. Mostly will be for recording and bedroom. Some small live spaces. Didn't want to rattle the neighbors ha. The tone sounded amazing at like 65% volume on that. Was that really loud or not too terrible?

  • @ShawnTubbs

    @ShawnTubbs

    3 жыл бұрын

    The PR12 would be a perfect fit for the tones you're after but at low "don't upset the neighbors" levels it might still be a problem. You would have to go the attenuator route or, look at amps like the REVV D20.

  • @ShawnTubbs

    @ShawnTubbs

    2 жыл бұрын

    To me, I think it would be fine for a medium volume stage but I don't play completely clean. The JS 12 at that level will work but it won't be dead clean. I don't think you can run this amp with an extension cab along with the internal speaker. Thanks for watching and for the question.

    In all honesty that Tone King Imperial MKII is really a great amp but if you're torn between that amp and a Princeton, the JS12 is the way to go. I've been wanting to own a JS12 ever since I demoed it.

  • @jeffsingerphoto
    @jeffsingerphoto3 жыл бұрын

    I have this amp... Just curious how you're sitting in a room with it at volume levels high enough to get distortion. I'm a bedroom player so I can't see going past the 9 o'clock position on the volume. What is guitar volume set to while playing?

  • @ShawnTubbs

    @ShawnTubbs

    3 жыл бұрын

    You mean is the amp hurting my ears in the room? It's a non-master volume amplifier so to get it to overdrive, it has to be turned up.

  • @jeffsingerphoto

    @jeffsingerphoto

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@ShawnTubbs I guess I'm just wondering if you normally would play that loud because that is extremely loud. And, do you tend to leave the volume on the amp high and then use the guitar's volume to control the volume. Or do you keep your guitar volume up and then adjust the amp's volume... I find that when using my Strat's volume knob it changes the tone, so I tend to leave the guitar volume all the way up and use a foot volume pedal to adjust overall volume.

    So it's a 12 watt amp that sounds more like a 20 watt amp? Either way it sounds killer with Shawn's guitar playing coming through it and I would buy one if I knew it had enough power to hang with bass and drums in a medium size room.

    Since 4 weeks I have a Fender 68 Custom Vibrolux 2x10”. It is really a nice amp, I have swapped the Celestions 10/30 for a Eminence Legends 10’ to have more of an American voiced tone. But honestly in my rehearsal room especially clean with my CS 52 Telly the amps sounds too thin to my ears! I’m missing the fat lows that I remember on Fender Amps! Just wondering if the JS/PR 12 can fix my issue and provide me with a fatter tone. Or maybe I’m ill as I used to play my Friedman Dirty Shirley with a oversized Bogner 2x12?
