    Hey! How's the amp holding up? I'm not questioning Suhr's quality but here's some context: many of the lower priced valve amps sometimes come with design defects like for example the Fender Blues jr III (commonly modded amp to fix its flaws). Where I'm from, I can't afford(time or money) to get the amps serviced by a good tech if something goes wrong with the amp(out of my control). Replacing tubes and basic maintenance like swapping out resistors or caps shouldn't be a problem. Did you notice/hear of any such flaws or did your unit make it to the tech anytime? Any such experiences? After listening to Suhr, I think I have found my Holy Grail for the tones I prefer but before buying it I want to make sure I don't need to seek a tech possibly ever.

    Bella Bella demo, Shawn. For pedalgeeks this is a great workhorse. The amp has enough fatness to let OD-pedals shine. I don't know if you follow Lari Basilio, but she creates amazing tones with the Bella icm with several Suhr-pedals like the Shiba, Riot Mini and Eclipse. You demo'd the Eclipse (not totally by coincidence I own the Eclipse and the Riot 1). I bet it sounds stellar in front of the Bella. Cheers for another detailed demo!

    @@barryprovost4597 Still a superb amp. Only issue is that mine is a combo and I was getting some serious tube rattle for awhile. The folks at Suhr sent a new set of power tubes, and it's been solid ever since. Pluses is that it's loud and clear in a live setting, and works great with almost every pedal in front of it. Minus would be that I can't get it to break up without it being insanely loud. Either way, highly recommended.

    Shawn - great demo. I just picked up a Bella non-reverb head and cabinet - and trying to figure out how best to dial in everything with my pedals. Just want to confirm that you are running your OD/Distortion effects thru the front and only the wet effects (Reverb and delay) through the FX circuit. Is that correct? What are the advantages of running it this way vs. all effects thru the FX channel?

  • @ShawnTubbs

    @ShawnTubbs

    5 жыл бұрын

    Good for you Mike! It's a great amp! Yes, I run everything to the front end of the amp and to be honest, I usually run delays and verbs to the front end as well. The main reason I'll run mod, verb and delay effects in the FX loop is based on how overdriven the front end of the amp is. If I'm running the preamp with a more broken or distorted tone and then boosting it with pedals, I'll run my delay and verbs in the FX loop because I don't like the sound of reverb, especially into an overdriven preamp. There's really no set rule on it. Just do what works for you.

  • @mikee.9129

    @mikee.9129

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thanks Shawn! Most likely I will not be overdriving the front end of the amp, as I need to have the ability to be super clean for some songs. All my OD will be via pedals so I can kick them on when needed (Timmy; TS9; Rat). I'll play around and see what sounds best based on your suggestions. But I"m really digging this Bella! Haha, no worries! The Bella is different from the Tone King in that it's based more on the Fender Bandmaster style amp. It's more efficient and is excellent as a pedal platform amp but I'm not as fond of how it overdrives compared to the Tone King. The Tone King may not have quite as much headroom but when it does overdrive it's very creamy sounding. Do you need a really clean Bandmaster style amp or do you want a more Deluxe style amp that overdrives sooner? Also, keep in mind the Bella has an FX loop and the TK doesn't but the TK does have an onboard attenuator. The Bella is a non master volume amp.

    Deluxe reverb vs Bella vs pt15... let’s discuss :-) (regardless I need a reactive load, and I already own pedals)

  • @ShawnTubbs

    @ShawnTubbs

    4 жыл бұрын

    The Deluxe Reverb is pretty much a go-to pedal platform amp that really is the standard in my opinion. It takes pedals extremely well and the 22-watt, 6v6 driven, tube rectified power section is just right for most home studio or gigging parameters. The Bella- which I own- is based more on a Bandmaster amp. It's 44 watts, and runs 2 6L6 power tubes. It's got more clean headroom than say a Deluxe Reverb but takes pedals equally well. It is less compressed in feel. The PT-15 is a completely different animal. The Deluxe and the Bella are single-channel amps used for the most part as "pedal platform" amps. The PT-15 is a 3 channel amp. It's 15 watts, 6v6 driven and though I have yet to play one, what I've heard sounds fab!! It's also got an embedded IR with reactive load tech on board. I guess the question is, what are your parameters? Do you prefer to just use pedals? Look at single channel pedal platform amps. Are you more into channel switching amps? The PT-15 might be a good choice plus you get the IR and load tech. Budget is something to consider as well between these amps so keep that in mind. There's my two cents.

    Shawn Tubbs if there were more videos on the pt15 clean channel I would get it but for now I gotta wait . Some people say it’s like a black face or Bella. But it also sounds like a vox cause it has a master volume. So new to all these options I only have a silver jubilee combo with my suhr strat

    @@joshua0226 Yes, I know most of the vids out there are not as focused on the clean channel of the PT15. Maybe I can con them into sending me one to demo. ;)
