Well i think that Tyrese thought that Morbius is connected to the Sony's "spiderverse" and since Spider-man is in the MCU so that means Morbius is part of the MCU. Could be a case of an actor's own theory which is not in line with what the studio's plans are. And we did see Micheal Keaton (presumably playing his Vulture character) in the trailer. So, if its not a misdirect then i wouldn't blame Tyrese to assume that its part of the MCU.

Off topic, but who here remembers that rant John went on years back about Tyrese Gibson? 😂

Sony put Michael Keaton on a prision in the trailer, pretty much confirming a year ago that this movie is in the same universe... maybe this is something to do with the used of the brand MCU, cause its maybe not part of the deal and they cant say it is, despite being in the same universe, i dont even think this is about wanting to mislead, its just they probably dont want drama with Disney/Marvel, cause its not co-produce by them. So, not fault on Tyrese in this part i think

Only Marvel/Disney can confirm things about the MCU. Whatever Sony does, it doesn't give a damn, because those IP don't belong to Sony. Fake Vulture is fake. The only confirmation I need to know if something is related to the MCU is if the movie/show has the "Marvel Studios" logo on it and Morbius doesn't have it. Period.

I'm going with option 2, Tyrese let it slip so Sony, probably cursing and swearing at Tyrese in their own offices, had to lie about it and deny it.

I know everyone is saying that Morbius and the rest of Sony’s movies are gonna tie into the MCU but I don’t, I still don’t think that was Vulture at the end of that Morbius trailer, I think Michael Keaton is playing a different character but everyone assumes it’s Vulture because it’s Michael Keaton, I’m with Rob, I think Tyrese is just 1 of those actors who doesn’t have an in depth knowledge of the comic book genre and thus probably thinks everything is in the same universe, it’s like how you’re parents would say something like “I wonder if the Avengers are gonna fight the Justice League in the next movie” they don’t know that can’t happen because they don’t know about studio rights, collaborations and things like that, so I’m guessing he’s one of those people, so I don’t think this is him giving spoilers or trying to misdirect people, I think it’s just someone who’s uninformed about this genre saying something that they think is going on even though it’s not

...At this point, I just assume they share the same multiverse and I leave it at that.

Sony is obviously misdirecting us. Micheal Keaton was in the trailer reprising his role as vulture from homecoming which is in the MCU. Mobius is clearly in the MCU with all the multiverse setup Marvel is doing and with the new deal they made with Sony after the fallout. This is clearly a misdirect.

Im pretty convinced that in no way home our mcu spiderman will end up in a different timeline which will then include venom and morbius. No way home can also refer to no way back to previous timeline. He now has to accept more responsibility to do things on his own in a world without the avengers. It fits with the development of his character the past few films

Plus Gwyneth has shown multiple times that she barely remembers her time in the MCU, this is the woman who kept forgetting she met Sebastian Stan multiple times for crying out loud

Could be MCU connections in the film that he’s seen that may or may not make it into the final cut of the film (depending on the back and forth deals between Marvel and Sony). Heck we’ve already seen the biggest hint in the trailer with Michael Keaton popping up.

The bit with Gwyneth paltrow on John Favreau's Chef was that she thought that she was filming that scene for an Avengers film rather than a Spider-Man film.

My guess is after No Way Home and Dr. Strange 2 the distinction between the MCU and the Sonyversus will be so blurry that yes the two universes might as well be connected.

I think it's fair to say that not just Tyrese but MANY people who watch Marvel films have no idea of the delineation between different universes. My Mom, for example, couldn't tell you the difference between the X-men films or an Avengers film. Hell, my own roommate who is only 1 month and 8 days older than me has no idea of the seeming differences between ANY of the comic book movies and seems to have the same response to all of them. We went to see Joker together and afterwards she couldn't believe that they'd got Joaquin Phoenix to do a DC movie and wondered if we'd see Batman in the sequel. My point being that these movies that make hundreds of millions to BILLIONS of dollars are clearly watched by people who don't follow all the ends and outs of who actually makes them and what universe they exist in but instead simply go to be entertained.

my wager is that it is in the multiverse as we will learn more about in the upcoming spiderman and doctor strange movies but not in the main universe of the mcu avengers.

I think Morbius takes place in the Raimi/Maguire Spider-Man world, but could be connected to the MCU, via the Multiverse

My guess is, There is some connection or reference to Spider-Man in the film and that is 'equal' to being in the MCU.

Looking at trailers for both Morbius and Venom 2 it's becoming blatantly obvious that these are set in the Raimi universe. This started all the way back when Flash* put out that Daily Bugle post to his* Instagram about vampires in New York and it was the Raimi newspaper version of the Daily Bugle. The same version of the Daily Bugle that you can see in trailers for Morbius and Venom 2. Also the mural of Spider-Man seen in the Morbius trailer is the Raimi version of Spider-Man.

if its not officially announced and confirmed by Sony and Disney then yes they will misdirect by denying it....for the time being.

This greatly increases my concerns with Sony and their universe. The MCU makes sure their actors don’t reveal such spoilers and those who do (ruffalo and holland) are paired up with people in the future to prevent leaks. Sony has a much smaller cast in their universe and already Tyrese is giving possible spoilers. They need to make clear what their actors can and cannot spoil in the future. Get your shit together Sony.

There is a difference between a Marvel comic book movie, and a Marvel Cinematic Universe comic book movie.... I mean , there are a number of people out there who think the X-Men movies of the 2000s are part of the MCU just because the Marvel logo has appeared in it. Of course it'll be wonderful if the studios have found a way to mesh the 2 movie universes together... But let's see what official news comes out of it in the next several months till the movie comes out...

Morbius is not in the MCU. It's in Sony's universe and Sony's universe is either within or "adjunct", as Amy Pascal put it, to the MCU. They're not going to outright come out and say it's in the MCU because Kevin Feige already said that movies like Venom and Morbius are not and they have to keep a good relationship going to keep Spider-Man in the MCU, but it's clear that they're connecting them to the MCU Spider-Man movies, despite them not being in the MCU themselves.

Michael Keaton was in the trailer. If the same actor playing the same character is in the movie I see it as hard to beleive its not connected, otherwise why do it and confuse people? If bale showed up in joker movie as batman would that not make them the same universe lol?

Sounds like it is the same universe but because of legal reasons everyone has to pretend it isn't the same universe. There is probably a leverage game being played from both sides where Sony is leveraging their none expiring license of Spiderman and Marvel is leveraging the super popular MCU. They came to some mutually beneficial agreement to keep Spiderman in the MCU but because of the licensing situation this game is being played and you can't officially say its the MCU because marvel will want more money and control for doing that. So its right on the edge so that if legal gets it worked out one day years from now they will say yep its MCU and if not they have just enough separation to branch off and pretend there was never any crossover to begin with.....despite characters that are in the MCU being present over here too.

Sony desperately wants MCU fans _to think_ their movies are part of the MCU because they want the immense box-office that comes with it. as a business, this is understandable on Sony's part. ethically speaking, however, it's deliberately disingenuous behavior as Sony knows Venom, Morbius (and now Kraven) are _not_ part of the MCU. but it certainly doesn't do them any good to shout that from the rooftops, so they keep their mouths shut or use verbal gymnastics to avoid answering the question directly. they obfuscate. this reminds me of the now-classic interview with Kevin Fiege & Amy Pascal where when asked about Venom possibly meeting up with Spiderman, Pascal says that both characters/movies are "adjacent" & Feige is seen giving her a sideways glance that the internet turned into a meme. Campea actually did a video on this topic nearly 4 years ago (June 24 2017).

@Zane Drake because Sony owns the character (along with the rest of Spiderman's Rouge's Gallery) & can do whatever they want with him, regardless of how little sense it makes. by putting Keaton's Vulture in Morbius (assuming that is in fact Keaton's Vulture, we still don't know officially), it would appear that Sony is trying to force Disney & Feige's hands into accepting their Spider-verse movies into the MCU. and they're using the fan-base as leverage. this goes back to Sony being "disingenuous", as I mentioned before. i know, it's confusing & annoying & it's not fair to the fans on either side. but, at the end of the day, u only need to ask yourself one question: Has Kevin Feige gone on record saying Venom & Morbius are part of the MCU? no, he hasn't.
