SIMPLE SOLUTION: Disney allows you to book your boarding group for a ride when you buy your tickets in advance. That way people will know well in advance if they can get on the attractions they want or book for another day instead. WHY DISNEYLAND WON'T DO IT: Because they know if you see the attractions you want to experience are already full, you won't buy a ticket. And their #1 priority is to get your money.,

It seems to me that they need to add tiers to the tickets. One higher priced pass that guarantees you at least one entry to the big attractions at a specific time. You're booked, no need to wait at all. However, you are limited to, say, one ride on each of the two newest attractions. Then, a lower priced pass that you _know_ is a lottery system, you're trying to get into a limited number of free spaces and there's no guarantee.

I understand ur frustration john but the difference is that if you buy a ticket to see a movie is specifically just to see that movie and now u can reserve ur seat in most movie theaters, but in Disney u don’t pay for your tickets for the specific rides, u just pay for the entrance of the parks and the hotel.

I was there a week ago. At 7am, Spider-Man was full within minutes. I was frustrated all morning, but made sure to click right at noon and lucked out. I understand your frustration and where you’re coming from, but the movie theater example is a false equivalency and you know it. Was your plan to ride Rise of the Resistance and immediately leave Disneyland? How about Spider-Man? The only difference between you and everyone else pissed off at Disneyland’s virtual queue is that you are a You Tube personality and you’re trying to be as loud as possible.

Look, I get that you're thinking that you're right, but there is no need to be rude. If you don't like movie analogy, here is another. It's kind of like saying..."what do you mean...you go to the mall for just one store???" Well, yes. Sometimes I go to the mall to see many stores. Sometimes I get together with my friends and make an entire afternoon of it. We go for the experience of it. Socializing, shopping, eating junk food in the cafiteria, and generally have fun. But sometimes I just need to buy myself a new pair of shoes so I go to the mall to one store just to get myself some shoes. I don't go to every store there. I go in, get my shoes and leave. That's the point. You don't need to stay all day. Why couldn't you do the same with a theme park??? John lives within driving distance of Dinseyland. As he has said many times that he and his wife Ann have gone there all the time. He does not need to stay there all day. He is not there for the experience because he can go anytime he wishes. Just like you can go into a mall anytime you want. You don't need to "make a day of it" for the experience because you've been to that mall many times and you'll go back many more time sin the future. So, I'm not sure I see your point there. Other than putting John down that is...is that jealousy I am detecting in between the lines???

John I think you comparing Disneyland to movie theater is completely off base. I've worked in the theme park business (not diseny). When you're buying a ticket for theater you're buying a ticket for one movie. When you're buying a ticket for a theme park you're buying for more than just two rides. There's about 15 to 20 rides Plus shows and other experiences. When you talk about the advertising truth is All theme parks advertise the new Flashly rides. There has always been no guarantee you're going to get onto these rides. All theme parks are like this not just Disney. You're trying to go on the two most popular rides in both parks if this was pre virus you would have been waiting four to five hours to get on one of them. You spent $1,500 for two rides think about that John. If my family would have spent that much I will be going on every goddamn ride I could go on not just two. I'm also smart enough to realize I'm not going to get onto every goddamn ride. I get it you're upset but you also have already been on Rise of the resistance And don't try to ride the new Spider-Man ride within the first 2 weeks you could have waited you could have been a smart consumer and wait for the initial push to die down. It's also the start of summer the start of most theme parks Peak seasons. Also you went on a weekend and you said in your previous video you used to be at the annual passholder. You should know weekends are terrible to go because that's when most of the tourists are there. Why didn't you go during the week. Let's look at some numbers you're probably fighting off anywhere from 20000 to 50000 people trying to reserve a spot to get on a ride. Disneyland has a max capacity of 85000. Disneyland has an average daily capacity of 51000 people California Adventure has an average capacity of 50000. The rise of resistance average hourly capacity is 1300 to 1700. Disneyland worked on a 12-hour operation schedule. So the maximum amount of people that can ride rise of the resistance is only 20,000 for whole day. John also bought a park hopper. So you spent half your day in Disneyland and the other half in California Adventure. You had a slim chance to get a reservation to both rides. If you spent one whole day at park you probably would have been able to get on one of them. If attendance was crazy high the chances get slimmer . Here's another point I like to bring up you wanted a refund. No theme park would give you a refund for missing out on two rides they might give you a meal voucher but no refund. I'm sorry you lost that money but there's more two theme parks but just two rides.

  • @Dschn08

    @Dschn08

    2 жыл бұрын

@@hupsou4237 making a ride longer has the opposite effect. For instance rise of the resistance is an 18-minute long ride. Well something like Space Mountain it's only 3 minutes. But it's sees about 400 more people per hour. Now for the weaker rides. Most theme parks do replace them overtime. For instance Avengers campus replaced an entire section to dedicate the Bug's Life. Don't get it wrong I do want stuff to change the in theme parks. Ticket pricing the cost of food the cost of a parking it is a little ridiculous. And needs to be changed. But my post was originally about knowing your expectations when you go into a theme park. Know that you might not go on every ride that you want to. Especially when you're trying to do two theme parks in one day.

The problem with John's AMC analogy is that he's trying to equate buying a ticket for a specific product to buying access to an entire theme park. When you buy a movie theater ticket, you're paying to see a specific movie. You're not paying for the entire theater. With Disneyland, you are paying for access to all their hundreds of rides and attractions that just happen to include the 2 rides you really want. You're not paying for a specific ride or rides though that might be an idea Disney could consider in the future. What happened to John and his wife is terrible and unacceptable but this is Disney we're talking about. The park lost an obscene amount of money being shut down for over a year so naturally their strategy in opening is pull in whatever money they legally can from their customers to try make up for what they've lost. I am though a little surprised that Disney isn't trying to milk customers by some of sort of selling premier access to certain rides where if you pay more money, you can guarantee yourself a spot in line for the day you're coming to the park.

While availability lasts." Just because you paid $1,500+ for 2 rides, doesnt guarantee those rides. It does guarantee access to the multimillion dollar park and you are more than welcome to spend your whole day waiting in line. After all. You want only those 2 rides so no issue. I experience it at multiple theme parks. Also, advance reservations COULD be messed with for multiple rides. The alternative is Universal that does not have free fast passes. It’s misleading to conflate “paying for Disneyland tickets” and “paying for an individual attraction”. They are very different things. If you had ordered “Spider-Man” or “rise of the resistance” passes, and for some reason you couldn’t get on, I’m 100% sure they’d honor that. We’ve had multiple fast passes refunded when certain rides had to be shut down that we had scheduled for the day. All the examples given aren’t the right examples. When one buys a ticket to see Endgame, they are buying a ticket specifically for that individual show. A more correct example would be if someone paid for AMC A-List and then didn’t get Endgame tickets before they sold out. Is that person entitled to an Endgame showing? No. Is it disappointing? Yes. Is Disney scamming people? No. It’s supply and demand. They can’t let people order tickets for individual highly demanded rides way in advance, because there is too much demand day-of. Also these aren’t “fast passes” like in Disney parks. They are “virtual queues”. Meaning they are the covid solution to physical lines. Saying one should be able to “get a spot in the queue ahead of time” is like saying someone should be able to jump into a physical line before the park opens. That’s why those parameters are there. If your gripe is a lack of clarity that rides are likely to be booked, then that’s one thing. But of course they are going to advertise attractions they spent tons of money on. But you’re both adults living in the area who know how tough it can be to get on these rides this soon after they open. But if that’s your gripe, stop with the misleading examples that conflate buying “Disney passes” with “attraction passes”.

However, I also know that Summer is the most heavily visited time for Disney, and with the addition of it being during a pandemic as well as opening weekend for Avengers campus, I wouldn’t overlook the possibility of not being able to ride such attractions after already purchasing the tickets. Regarding the refund, if there were specific tickets ONLY for those two attractions, then I would understand the refund, but you buy Disney tickets for ALL the park offerings. Let alone all the times my family vetoed a ride because the line was hours long. It's frustrating as all heck.

Actually discussing this with my girlfriend, if you get the passes constantly people think it’s a great way, but for the people who it’s their only chance to go and they don’t get it they practically wasted a whole trip because they couldn’t go on the ride they wanted to because of being unlucky. Bring back fast passes and open the stand by.

Disneyland is marvelous theme park and have visited many times. It's a valid point to begrudge Disney for with holding a refund for the disappointment of not being able to see one of the main attractions. Yet, there very similar circumstances to ALL theme parks that have theater shows within their parks. Theater shows are shows ran at a premise of first come first serve until full. I look at "Resistance" as such, a theatrical show. While it's not at "extra cost", it is part the experience at first come first serve [digitally]. I've come to realize that when I visit Disney World in Orlando for the 1st time, I have a 32% chance of seeing the ride (according to a popular Disney Blog's poll). Dude, there's just so much to experience, I sure as heck am NOT going to let that "Yuck ruin my Yum" with the money I'm spending with my significant other.

I understand your frustration and I have been in your same situation, but I completely disagree with your stance on this. Disney makes it very clear to their customers that reservation spots for their e-ticket rides fill up within seconds before you even buy tickets to the park. It sucks and it’s a huge bummer, but at least they give you ample warning that there is a good chance you won’t be able to do some of the brand-new rides. Second, the $1500 you spent was for the hotel rooms and park tickets, not specifically for the Spider-Man ride and ROTR. If you had bought a spot on those rides specifically then the Endgame analogy would work, but the tickets were for the parks, not the rides. Finally, your solution to be able to book a boarding group when you buy the tickets would be a disaster because it would hurt almost everybody involved. The whole reason Disney has the day-of reservation system is to avoid situations like scalping. If Disney allowed people to book boarding groups for rides when they bought their tickets, it would be nearly impossible for people to get any tickets outside of scalpers upcharging them ridiculously because of a guaranteed spot on the e-ticket attractions. I am sorry that you didn’t get on those new rides and it is far from a perfect system, but these rides are new and it will get better down the line. It sucks that there is no guarantee and I personally missed out on getting on ROTR my first time, but there’s so much other stuff to do at the parks that not getting on a ride or two shouldn’t spoil the whole experience.

He will eventually calm down and realize that most people have to save and plan for years to just be able to get in the park. First world entitled rant. He knew how the system worked and he knew he had a small chance and got pissed it filled up so quick. This is how all these things work. Your theatre analogy is bogus because it is an apples to oranges comparison. You are entitled because you live close enough and can afford to go to the park where you don't need the hotel and you have been to the park more times than 90% of families get to go in a lifetime. Advanced tickets to events go on sale all of the time and sell out in seconds that's just how it works. Disney did not promise you that you would get to ride those rides on that day, in fact they go out of their way to tell you that chances are very slim that you will be able to get in to those attractions. They made you no promises, where your theatre analogy falls apart is that when you buy movie tickets you buy them for a specific movie. I am sorry that you feel that you should be able to go on any ride you want whenever you want to but that is not how it works especially on a Saturday, probably the single busiest day of the week. You are entitled because you get to go all the time and that makes you privileged but also gives you a certain sense of entitlement. You think that they owe you for spending the $1500 to see two attractions, however they did not force you, promise you or guarantee you to do anything. That is the point.

"...and *hope* there were seats available" - Am confused. Why don't it be clearly stated in the terms, or the agent itself, advice/service the customer beforehand? They love to put the 'responsibility' on the customer's "ignorance" of parting with their hard earned cash to these agents. If the 'fine print' states: First come. First serve. No guarantee you'll get the ride/attraction of your choice *but* ticket(s) are valid for any/all other attractions - It at least gives one the option to decide, beforehand, if it's all worth it?

Agree. I still believe if you stay at a Disney hotel you should automatically give you a pass for the big rides.

Your AMC analogy is flawed. Amusement parks NEVER guarantee that you’ll get to ride that one special ride. Last time I went to WDW, I wanted to ride Splash Mountain. It was down for repairs, so I couldn’t. Disney never guaranteed me that I could ride Splash Mountain, and didn’t break their contract with me. And Rise of the Resistance is *infamous* for breaking down or running on reduced capacity.

You missed the point. The AMC analogy is perfect because it illustrates that it would be unacceptable for them to function like that. We'd never tolerate it because it would be a ridiculous way to do business. But we let Disneyland get away with it. Thank you for proving my point.

@@johncampea Ok. Do like Universal Orlando did with the new Hagrid ride. 4.5 hour wait. No Express Pass. (Yes. Four and a half hours.) You want to spend half the day you paid for in the park waiting for one ride? And the ride is still getting the kinks worked out and can go down for half a day? Go for it. I’m not that person. I’ll ride five other rides and have a nice lunch in that span of time. I’ll come back in six months when the demand for the new ride has gone down. You work within the system they have, not the Snyder Cut version you wish they had.

@@johncampea Also, you could use strategy. You could try the Rise queue and your wife could try the Spider-Man queue. One of you might be successful and get on one of the two rides. What I’m saying is, if you were going to a large city for a weekend trip, you’d probably plan ahead. Disney requires that kind of planning now. You *can* just show up at the gate and stroll in, but you won’t get the most for your money and time that way. That’s an inconvenient truth. (I’m going to keep it up with the movie title puns.)

One more thing. The people in Boston? Their attempts to get a boarding pass did not count, unless they were using a VPN to make them look like they were on Disney property in Orlando or Anaheim. It’s location-bound.

They should sell 2 types of tickets. Tickets specific to rides. And day tickets where you randomly can get to what ever ride you wish but not garantied.
