SPOILERS @aka Jordan - well, obviously, however, over the years she and K had lived together, she had stored a lot of information about his personality, preferences and experiences that allowed her to support him in a unique way. She also went above and beyond in getting close to him, as evidenced by her hiring the prostitute, or her last screams of fear and agony on seeing him harmed, or even when insisting on him being special, and coming to the conclusion that he wasn't a replicant despite his protests (even if she turned out to be wrong). The matter of whether she was truly sentient is left up for the viewer to decide, I think. Personally, I think she achieved some level of sentience as a result of her acquiring information and experiences over the years, but that's just me.

A gateway to something far beyond our own world and minds. A gateway into the very thing we fear and love most. Our own desire that tears at us from the inside and corrupts our every thought. To walk through and see beyond is both a blessing and a curse and ourselves will be tested through the strength we hold in our own freedom to choose who we are. A fickle thing choice is.

Here because of the monolith

I stand at the airlock, the bright nebula pulsing outside the plastiglass. In the center, the monolith floats, a black speck among the swirling, slow-mo maelstrom. I reach for the manual release. "Are you sure you want to do this?" LENA's voice asks, one last time. I pause, the bulky fingertips of my suit brushing against the chrome lever. "... I've never been more sure about anything in my life," I say. I pull the lever, and go to meet my maker.
