Mongolian nomads’ ultimate dilemma | SLICE I Full documentary

Nomads in Mongolia have always had an intimate relationship with wolves, and travelled with the wild canines. But as the Mongolian economy has boomed drastically, a dilemma is imposed upon the nomads; maintain their relationships with nature, or cave in to the overwhelming force of the economy.
Faced with the conundrum is a shepherd Purevjav. Wolves have been killing his livestock to feed themselves, and Purevjav is well aware of the value the wolves’ pelts hold if exported. To sustain his family, Purevjav is pressed to hunt the pack of wolves he considers scared.

Many many other animals are stronger and more powerful than human beings. It’s our minds and our ability to create technology that has allowed us to conquer the planet and subdue all other animals. We will destroy everything including ourselves if we allow the worst among us to control this beautiful and wonderful world we live in. Sadly it doesn’t look like our future is going in the right direction.

Such a beautiful documentary . The old man is so wise and although they killed the wolves, the nomads have such respect for the power of the animal. Letting go of the cubs to save them from Chinese slaughter is so noble . He has no greed for money although his family is in much need of it . The world needs such compassion, empathy and respect for nature .

Their ancestors were the best warriors in the history of mankind. They defeated and ended the Islamic golden age for good in the middle east, they invaded as far away in Japan, Indonesia, Israel, Estonia, Siberia and even Austria. They were the best at killing people efficiently that made Mao, Stalin and Hitler like rookies. Their army was actually small but their kill count was astronomically high. I even told my navajo friend that your people are so lucky you didn't had to face the mongols.

I was also sent abroad years ago as I’m not in teens anymore lol but my parents especially my dad was quite successful (now retired), and even though I live in G7 country (top three economy of the world), not everyone can send kids to abroad as it cost hundreds of thousands to send a kid to a boarding school. I’m pretty sure I costed them a lot of money. Lol.

Nothing can stop people from pursuing a better life, but if they don't drive away the wolf pack, the sheep will be eaten. If there were no wolf packs. There are more and more rabbits on the grassland, and they ultimately dominate the grassland. Only by mastering balance can one obtain eternal wealth. For humans, the most important thing is to protect them, not wolf packs.

Incredible documentary, common for nomadic life, as a Mongolian, I confirm that it tells the true story of perennial circle of life in man-nature world. I can understand critics, who doesn't feel comfortable with hunting down wolves but if you try to understand herder more, it will be clear that it is fight for their own survival also. Herd is all they have, which is usually not big, and active predators often push herder family into extreme poverty.

No phones, no laptop, no useless things you learn... Kids who are not left to nannies when mother works, dad works. All day long staying with your family and close bonded. No crying hysterical children and frustrating tantrums. No adhd, and other mental problems, no psychiatrists, and a 1000 other things that bother them. Simple, transparent living. Simple things to be and stay grounded and feeling of belonging. I guess suicidal thoughts and depressions are low. When sick, people help eachother, because everybody is present and not working somewhere else all day and absent. Indeed a life worth living.

Slice videos should be shown in every school in America. Not only that the videos help to introduce young Americans to other culture and civilization, they also help to cure their entitlement and their first-world problems such as not having the latest mobile phone, sneakers, or fashion.

I feel the same way as he did. Thought I don't belong in a nomadic tribe. Still, the idea that wild life will all disappear overnight is scary. I'm happy that they let the cubs go at the end. This video is really good, enjoyable to watch, and full of knowledge to learn. I hope they survive. So that we can still preserve the different types of living life. God bless.

This documentary left me in tears. As more I watch about such kinds of communities the more I get impressed by how we as humans even with our elaborated prefrontal cortex could manage the ways to be in balance with nature. I think these communities should be maximum preserved from being challenged by kind of mining companies or bizarre chinese prejudices or other `market incentives`. So we can still learn from the life sources, but not from legends and myths

I didnt want this video to end. I want there to be a part two of this family.I fell in love with this family, with the old man with his wife that still loves her husband and he her. With the little girl that saved the baby deer that found a new mother. With the baby that laughed at he grandpa and the other little ones trying so hard to emulate the adults. To the old mans beautiful wisdom and the tears he cried I cried with him. And the ending words were so perfect and devastatingly true. I watch hundreds of all kinds of documentaries and usually only once but this one is in my top ten and one I will watch again. I pray for abundance for this family and that the old man is not haunted any further by the evil that man has become. Thank You for your film you did a beautiful job.
