Tracy says her 30-year-old son, Logan, is in desperate need of help. She claims Logan has gone from a productive computer science engineer to a shell of a human being over the course of a year. Tracy says Logan has no motivation, rarely eats, and can barely function enough to take care of his basic hygiene needs - in fact, she claims he only showers once or twice a month and only if he knows he has company coming over! Tracy says even the simplest tasks, like making the bed or screwing a cap back on a bottle, have become extremely difficult for Logan. Tracy says she needs Dr. Phil to intervene to find out why her son’s motivation has disappeared and how he can get back on track.

That’s what I was thinking. Sounds like everything was fine and one day it wasn’t for “no reason”. In my life I’ve usually found there is a reason when EVERYONE stops taking to you. Usually isn’t for no reason. Big red flag when someone says that. Might’ve been making them uncomfortable or been too stubborn to be around. And it made his depression worse and he just kept doing worse and worse till he ended up on the show acting like the victim. He might be but I’d wanna hear from people he worked with used to be close friends with etc to know moree. Can’t always trust what someone and their just as delusional family say sometimes

@@ImpossibleMusic69 I agree with you to an extent but I have also learned in life that when people become depressed and start acting the way he is people don't want to be around that so they start distancing themselves from that person. So it's very possible that he started to act this way before he lost everyone. Its clear as day hes depressed and willing to bet money he has adhd bc he also said in another clip that when he try's to do things his mind goes wild and won't stop thinking so he then gets distracted or discouraged and ends up not doing it that's like one of the number one signs of adult adhd the adhd is probably the root cause of the depression and stimulants will probably help him fix at least 80% of what's wrong in his life. The fact dr.Phil who is supposed to have a degree in psychiatric health doesn't address that and acts like this is just a case of laziness pisses me off if he has a degree and specializes in this area he should have been able to spot that right away before anyone else not another adult with adhd 🤦‍♀️

I'm happy depression is getting more awareness these last years. Lack of motivation is just one of the symptoms, though. I remember my foster parents being annoyed with me and calling me lazy because I had no interests and no motivation. I learned how to ¨pull my own ears¨ in order to get things done. Several years later, living on my own and still depressed af. Im doing okay, but somtimes I slip back into the zero motivation and cant get anything done. I'm getting help, though-

@Far Above Rubies yeah instead of taking him to a normal doctor or psychologist she took him to a tv set of a doctor who hasn't had his license renewed since 2009. So he isn't even allowed to formally diagnose someone. Also in this case I believe it's not just depression, but also possibly add/adhd. He suffers from a major case of executive dysfunction which is very common in add/adhd.

@Far Above Rubies dr. phil isn't licensed and does not practice (you can google that). this is a tv show for views. I've had talk therapy for 5 years, as well as am on anti-depressants currently (15 years diagnosed major depression, since I was 12). Different treatments work for different people, and I never believed in medication and was opposed to it as a teenager - I saw it help my mom, other family members, and multiple friends. And I'm amazed at how it has helped me, seriously. Each person should make their own medical decisions, but to say it barely helps is factually inaccurate. Every person in this world should have talk therapy, in general.

The mother and sister give me major narcissist vibes, they are completely unable to put themselves in his shoes. They can't fathom why he could possibly not have motivation. They can hardly say anything decent about him, but won't shut up about how much they do for him so they look like heros. The only difference is that people with asperger's can mask their autism better and have normal to high IQ's. They still are as autistic as a nonverbal autist (who also can be very intelligent) or one that stims very noticably. Making a difference between degrees of autism can be very damaging, because it is very hard for the persons who appear neurotypical to get their special needs, while if you don't pass, you get underestmated and not giving the upportunities and chances to thrive.

Dude is depressed. My brother was like this for many years until he left his career as a pharmacist to go to medical school. He always wanted to go to medical school but he gave up his dream because he thought it was too late. All he did was work, come home, play video games till he passed out on the couch, wake up, play some more before he went back to work. Dude, lived like that for over 8 years. Then he finally snapped out of it, applied for medical school, got in, then went. Human beings need to do meaningful work...if they don’t, depression can ensue I believe.

While people can call this laziness, that's just not what it is. It's severe depression, and while depression can definitely make you lazy, it's just not the same thing. Depression can make you feel like your body is 20 times heavier then it actually is, your head feels foggy and it hurts to even try to concentrate, simple tasks feel worthless and feel as if they drag on for hours instead of minutes. This man needs therapy and probably medication, not bitterness and judgement.

I feel so sorry for him. He’s obviously very troubled. I hope he finds that spark to ignite his passion and motivation.

Seeing the picture of him when he was younger with a fuller face it shocking. His weight is really low.

Its so sad that they see him as lazy. He’s quite clearly burnt out and depressed. Yes there is a small layer of laziness in there but its because once you are in that state it’s extremely hard to get out.

I know where this guy is coming from completely. He is drained! You can see it in his eyes. My heart breaks for him so much because I go through this everyday. Depression is horrible, I wouldn't wish it upon my worse enemy. The feeling of not having desire to do ANYTHING is honestly a feeling no one ever wants to feel. He has a very good mother. At least she realizes he is depressed and needs help. Maybe he also has a form of anxiety. When my depression get bad I won't clean my apartment for a week or maybe even longer because I just don't have the motivation to do anything because I just feel blah. It's almost like your mentally tired from life and your just drained. It's horrible. People who are judging this man? You should be ashamed of yourself. Mental illness is real! I wouldn't wish anxiety or depression on anyone. I pray him ❤

Same. Except 33 and living with parents... everything else is exactly the same. I would kill to already have that CS degree though as the only hope I'm clinging to right now is just STARTING a career in CS.
