This speech was the single best moment in the show.
I haven’t had a favorite actor in close to 15yrs. Rosamund Pike, no matter what role she plays, manages to make me feel so much. She’s so amazingly talented and I’m grateful she chose to become an actress.

@Orgnok I know this is a year old comment but as someone that has listened to the first 2 books by Pike and the next 2 by the Kramer duet... Pike blows them out of the water. Next to her they barely even give emotion to the characters and scenes. Next to her they don't have a unique voice for each character as she does. It has nearly been painful to continue the audio books without Pike at the helm.
That speech is the reason I carry on watching this show
Perfectly delivered with the right amount of pathos. And this is why you hire Rosamund Pike.

While I struggle with the show being true to the source material, I will say that the choices made here are fantastic! They condensed the story of Manetheren for screen, but still conveyed the astounding strength and tragedy of this bloodline. They also kept elements that foreshadow journeys of these characters (Egwene and Perrin especially). Nothing will ever match the perfection and detailed length of the books. I just hope Amazon continues to give us these moments of the WOT Culture - the nostalgia that makes me want to read the books over and over again!
Moiraine is flawless.
I fell in love with this novel when I first read this scene when it was in front of the entire village, and although this is a shortened version, it has a similar impact. Rosemond's delivery, the cut to Egwene and the settle music really sells the moment. i hope the next season has more of this.

It dawns on me that Manetheren is the worst case scenario of Helms Deep. If the Roherum didn’t arrive…it would have ended the same.
I had been watching this show passively, with it on as background noise. Until this moment. This was such a powerful scene that I rewound the show a couple times to watch again. And then I was hooked!

The showmakers decided not to do the ageless look. They apparently experimented with VFX but it looked weird. Also, in the books, Robert Jordan isn’t even consistent with the ageless look in the earlier books. He suggests that some Wise Ones / Kin have it (therefore, suggesting that it’s just a channeling thing). But later, we learn that it’s related to the use of the Oath Rod. Ultimately, it’s small potatoes, at least in my book 🤷♂️

I think the exposition here was hard to follow for people who were new to the story. The emphasis and point of the exposition Moirane gives is completely lost because the average viewer won't keep paying attention to a winding exposition that seems to have no bearing on the plot. (Spoiler, they still haven't brought it up again so why did they have this scene in the episode if only to just have Moiraine chastise the cast?) I understand what the scene could have achieved but it was poorly constructed which is shocking because Rosmand Pike is mesmerizing. Am I the only one that thinks this about this particular scene?
