The Wheel Of Time | Moiraine Is Questioned By The Whitecloaks

On the way though to the White Tower, the group run into the Children of the Light the “Whitecloaks".
From Season 1 Episode 2 'Shadow's Waiting' - Moiraine and Lan lead the four villagers to safety, unsure which is the one from the prophecy. About The Wheel Of Time: The Wheel of Time is one of the most popular and enduring fantasy series of all-time, with over 90 million books sold. Set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists and only certain women are allowed to access it, the story follows Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), a member of the incredibly powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, as she arrives in the small town of Two Rivers. There, she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, who will either save or destroy humanity.
Based on Robert Jordan’s best-selling fantasy novels, The Wheel of Time was adapted for television by executive producer/showrunner Rafe Judkins. Larry Mondragon and Rick Selvage of iwot productions, Mike Weber, Ted Field of Radar Pictures, Darren Lemke, Marigo Kehoe, and Uta Briesewitz will also serve as executive producers, with Briesewitz set to direct the first two episodes. Rosamund Pike will serve as producer and Harriet McDougal and Brandon Sanderson as consulting producers. The Wheel of Time is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television.

1:00 love the fact that the exact moment Moraine gasps in pain, you can see Lan’s jaw clench as though he felt it too. The writing may suck but the actors are really paying tribute to the source material as best they can!

    1. In the books, the Whitecloaks can recognize Aes Sedai by their ageless faces, but since they can’t here, there are so many ways he should have been able to easily find out: a) the ring on her finger would leave either impressions or tan lines (or both), giving him a clue; b) she is wearing only one color, something only Aes Sedai do in this show, therefore he should have another clue; c) the big man with a sword, wearing the same color as her over most of his clothes is strangely protective of only her; d) if everyone in the Winespring Inn recognizes Moiraine and Lan as Aes Sedai and Warder, then the people who specifically hunt them should know as well if not better; e) if he's going to ask questions, he should ask questions like, “Can you say you dress is [insert color that’s not blue],” “Are you capable of lying,” or “Are you Aes Sedai?” anything is better than the non-questions he asked. 2. A Whitecloak would never tell someone to seek the help of Aes Sedai, especially not Geofram Bornhald, especially not in front of other Whitecloaks, thrice especially not in front of a Questioner. Questioners have very high levels of authority in the Children of the Light and would instantly accuse anyone who recommended Aes Sedai help of being a Dark Friend and begin an inquisition.

Seriously. People who have read the books are insufferable. This is an adaptation. Even though it might not be that great of a show it is still better that most shows out there.

'People who have read the books are insufferable'. That's exactly your problem though. You clearly haven't read the books, so you don't know how much they're losing, changing and messing up. Even easy things that they don't have to cut out because of time constraints. And they are adding so much extra uselessness. Sure it's not a bad adaptation compared to other fantasy adaptations, but we don't want mediocrity. Especially when compared to how good the source material is, it blows the other adaptations source material out of the water. Why is it so hard to stay faithful to the source? Game of Thrones stayed a lot more faithful until they bypassed the books and that was the best show out there. Staying faithful works, and makes everyone happier(book read and show watcher because it's not only more accurate but just better, without non-authors making up their own fanfiction).

@@Asmodeus092I am new to the series. I'm enjoying the Wheel of Time TV show. While season 1 felt too compressed, season 2's pacing and direction was just right. It's certainly more enjoyable than many of its contemporaries in the fantasy TV show genre.

This was one of the scenes that lost me on the adaptation. A Whitecloak, especially a Lord Captain, would never tell someone to go to the Aes Sedai for Healing. It's the equivalent of getting your healing from the Devil in their view. It's such a shame as I really wanted to like it or at least enjoy aspects of it, but they not only kept changing things but those changes often made no sense and didn't feel like WOT at all. Virtually everything I've seen of this adaptation has been awful and that saddens me deeply. I really want them to make an anime style adaptation and remain faithful, at least to the core of the story. I adore WOT but yeah the gender/biological essentialism is outdated and the gender bickering and miscommunication is taken to an extreme, so I'm fine with them toning that down but you have to keep the saidin/saidar split and the Dragon/Dragon Reborn male because that's the core of what the writer was exploring. Plenty of ways to keep it equal and updated, but don't change the core of the story or make weird lore changes like the one in this scene. Thanks for the update though - it's useful to be able to see and discuss .

If you dislike the show because it’s not exact to the books, maybe you should watch something else. Tax Payer dollars didn’t fund this, someone who read the books did and it inspired them to create the show. It’s kinda sad (pitiful) to see how desperate some of you are to prove everything wrong. Something tells me you’ll live very long and lonely lives
