Life has become more ominous and dense; Where is that auspicious savior?
The withered flowers are suffering; What has happened to the spring breeze?
No one is saying that friendship is the right and duty of a companion.
What fate has befallen the righteous ones? What has happened to the companions?
This land used to be the city and dwelling place of compassionate companions.
When did compassion come to its end? What has happened to all the rulers of the land?
It's been years since any gem was found from the mine of humanity.
What has happened to the sun's rays, to the efforts of the winds and rains?
The potential for success and fortune is placed at the heart of life.
Yet, no one is seen at the arena; What has happened to all the participants?
Thousands of flowers have blossomed, yet not a single bird's song can be heard.
What has occurred to all the nightingales? What has happened to all the birds?
Zohrè, the morning star, which is the heavens' chorus, no longer produces pleasant songs. Did its instrument burn to ashes?
No one has an appetite for intoxication any longer; What has happened to all the wine drinkers?
Hafez! No one knows the Divine Secrets, Silence!
