I broke my elbow and was so delighted when I was given the all clear from my physician and physical therapist to use weights again. But where to start? What can I do at home? How many reps and how often? All the kinds of questions that are reasonable, because beginning again after an injury can be scary.
So... I'm happy to share a routine I built to help others get stronger at home!
Much of these exercises may be familiar as they are often used in physical therapy. As always, listen to your body and do what feels right for you today. Make sure you've communicated with your physician and or PT before entering into this type of training on your own.

I need to incorporate some of these. Ive been a boxing and Muay Thai coach for 15 years, and all that pad holding has wrecked me.

Ouch! It's tough work holding pads. This kind of work, myofascial release and massage would probably be great for you. Don't forget to give your body some love for all the work it does. 😊

I was doing a bit of metal bending and one of the rods had not been tempered correctly so when i went to bend it it snapped. This cause a really bad hyperextension injury. Now i deal with chronic pain, tendonitis, and reinjury. Hoping some of this can help. Your clubbell work is good for it as long as im warmed up 😂

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your injury, but I do hope this helps! We start with the "less is more" mentality of lower weights and potentially fewer reps because we aren't aiming for sore or spent. We want to get the tissues around the muscles and bones (that are more prone to injury) comfortable and used to smaller loads and allow them proper recovery time - especially if coming back from an injury.
