I lost my husband on May 9th, 2023 to brain cancer. He was 34 years old. Our first date 3/2019, was spent watching a celestial event, through my Uncle’s binoculars I had borrowed. A year later we visited the darkest point, East of the Mississippi, and got to see the Milky Way with our naked eyes. Then, on 2/17/22, he was diagnosed. This song is absolutely PERFECT to sing to my Husband Andrew. My always and forever star 🌟 🩶

About a year ago I met someone and I completely fell in love with him. We lived on opposite sides of the world but spoke every day and found ways to see each other and made plans about being together. I showed him Mitski and he loved it and said she always reminded him of me. I felt him pulling away more and more over the last few weeks while I was trying so hard to keep it alive, but today I finally resolved to let him go since he's not meeting me halfway anymore... and then Mitski releases this video today. F*ck. It encapsulates this feeling so perfectly. I'm grateful, I will always love him, but at a certain point you have to let go.

@@Onice. Jesus was man-made to fill an emptiness present in humanity since the dawn of civilization. We became a self-centered species and needed religion to warp a vast and uncaring universe into a space filled with love and made entirely for us. But the absurdity of this one life remains with or without God. My personal opinions aside, I find the feeling described by OP really beautiful. It's a feeling of complete presence and oneness with the world, with all its flaws and contradictions. It's illumination. Another artist that encapsulates this feeling is Sufjan Stevens.

My sweet 19 year old ragdoll cat passed away a few days ago on 4/25/24. I used to sing twinkle twinkle little star to her when she was younger, and this is one of the last songs I sang to her before her passing. I’m yours no matter, Marlow. Momma misses you so very much, little star.🐾 ⭐️ ❤

Mitski is stunning, the dress is stunning, the cinematography is stunning

This is so ephemeral. The way her dress catches the light, and in the second verse, she’s silhouetted in the light showing how she’s consumed by the love that was shared. Also the use of black and white film to mimic starlight, and give off the vibes of an old movie reaching its end. Such a simple, but beautiful video for a beautiful song!

It makes my heart sink in and my brain stop every time I replay this. As I analyze the video makes me want to cry because of how sentimental it is. Talking about how someone would never stop loving the other even if he/she gives up on her/him.

Star is one of my all time favorite songs of hers, the constant cosmic buildup at the end is ethereal

One of my favourite songs from this album, saying goodbye to someone you love is such a bittersweet feeling; the light from the stars metaphor as something that was once shining but now is dead, while we can still see their light, is amazing. Stars are also memories. Thank you again Mitski!

This song is therapeutic. The dynamic of the arrangement are so soothing, the way it starts very low and gradually goes up, the drums just on the right spots the way Mitski changes keys slowly going up quite literally to the Stars but somehow keeping her voice at one level of serenity.. I could go on for hours, she’s one of the most brilliant artists from this generation. Thanks Mitski ❤

Songs like this from Mitski is why I will always love her music. I love when her music starts off quiet then gains tractions as it meets a crest and then crashes like a beautiful wave. When I saw her live I was having the best time, but out of nowhere I just started crying. Her music really tickles this part of me I can’t explain, it turns into a pure form of existence without thought.

Fun fact! Mitski invented the galaxy, the solar system and every planet in it.
