@@annablue8429 I'm sorry if this is a situation you have found yourself in, but it also takes a privileged mind to dismiss anyone else' situation based on your definition of a mental illness that comes in many shapes and sizes. It's because of talk like this that many people still dismiss depression, as if trying to function and fight through your illness means you were never suffering to begin with. If you are surviving somehow without constant care then you must not have really been depressed. What a horrible, judgmental way to look at people.

I know it's different for everyone and that's kind of the beauty of a lot of Mitski's songs, but for me this was chilling because it mirrored exactly what derealization and depersonalization feel like for me. I think "Nobody" has a double meaning of nobody wanting you but also not knowing who you are, let alone anyone else.

I promise that someone out there will see your beauty and worth far past your appearance and aside from that, the beauty standards in the media can’t compare the genuine beauty that’s within. this expresses that profound loneliness of like a shock into cold water after you experienced abandonment when you, a misunderstood person, thought that you've found the people you're going to be with and love forever. so you drink it all down and internalize the pain as much as you can until nobody, nobody, no one sees you being vulnerable. and you cling on to people you've barely met and just want to feel something even if it's just a small amount of affection; because for you, a drop of love is blood in a shark infested water- you ravage it down trying to find it, but in the end, it wasn't enough to satiate anything. with that being said, it does get better. you just need to work on yourself and have boundaries even if you want to savor the love you oh so need

What’s sadder is seeing trolls on here making ignorant comments to people simply sharing how lonely they feel/having no one. Like why make someone feel crappier 😢. And to all of those out there feeling lonely, just know that you’re not alone and that things gets better! Just be sure to love your self and when you’re ready to make friends, the real friends that are there to stay will pop up. And to those that are scared to interact again due to toxic/traumatic relationships, just know that not everyone out there is bad/out to get you, and again to truly love yourself because no one else can do it for you- things are easier to accept when you accept who you really are and it’s okay to be alone- gather your thoughts to find your peace 💜

This song resonates with me, i dont have friends or someone to relate to my loneliness. Sure i have a bf but he majority asleep most of the day because of his job. I dont have a best friend and im a hermit. Ive tried making friends but they only talk to for free therapy or for convenience. It perfectly describes how sad and lonely you can be.
