This would be a good video for getting people hooked on OSP. It's short and simple, being white-void era, but it's definitely funnier than average, is a rather obscure story, and showcases some of Red's improved effects that are everywhere in later videos!

@@glorysolly1855 Before Red created the fireside chat background and key frames, she used these images of her character talking in a "white void," as in, with a plain white background. More recently, Red abandoned those images entirely, in favor of using the fireside chat background for everything, because the older images aren't up to her current personal standards of quality. On the other hand, Blue has abandoned the fireside chat background, because he accidentally ruined the image files of his character sitting in the chair, and Red's old white-background animations for Blue are newer than the ones she did for herself, and still look OK to her. Plus it's easier for Blue to throw other images on the white background, or to ask Red for a custom white-background image.

I also like that in some versions, while attempting to lift the cat, the moment its paw leaves the ground, they hear a sound from outside which was basically an earthquake caused by Thor and Jormungandr. Furthermore, sometimes, when battling the old woman, while he does loose, he is never fully put on the ground, but only is put on 1 knee. Still defeated, but even more scary, since the only repercussions of battling old age was: "Uff, my 1 leg is a little wobbly."

Norse myths have a lot of different versions typically, the details varying from telling to telling. In the versions I've read, when Thor wrestled the old lady he couldn't "throw her" (which I assume means either pin her or it's talking about lifting someone and tossing them over your shoulder like you do in jiu--jutsu) but she couldn't throw him either--the match was a draw, and that's what really scared Utgard-Loki the most. Because the gods are long-lived, but they're not immortal like the Greek gods. The fact that time itself couldn't throw defeat Thor basically implied that his will was so strong that he couldn't die even though the other gods(and Giants) could, which meant that he was completely undefeatable. The difference between this feat and the others is like the difference of watching someone lift a car and watching them pick themselves up by their bootstrings and climb into the air with that method. One is superhuman("How did he do that?") the other is in complete violation of the laws of the universe("You CAN'T do that!")

I'm fascinated by the entire idea of these two random kids. Like... why are they so important to include? What happened to them after this all settled? Did they get to go live with the gods? Did they have awesome epic adventures? Did they die horribly?

The good thing is they don't die, but from what i've seen they aren't mentioned in any other myths, so they probably just go back to normal or live as normal but in Asgard maybe

The Eddas have a part where Loki burns a dude to death, and the dude's daughter is mad, so to make her laugh he ties his balls to a goat's beard. Look it up.

So in the version I read of this story, Thor and Loki were having a debate on which was more powerful, raw strength or cleverness. The old “brains verse brawn”. So they decided to take on Utgard-Loki’s challenges to prove their side to the other.
