Hello Tito. Thanks for interesting tutorial. What will happen if I remove infinity blocking screw? Will it focus to the infinity on the Nikon camera then? At this moment it is focusing only at about 1 meter on the Nikon.

what's up Tito how you doing? I like how you're able to take this lens completely apart and put it back together with confidence, I took mine apart to do the minimum focusing distance modification. I actually just completed my most thorough lens review ever on my channel of this particular lens and it's a great companion to the Helios you're welcome to check it out if you like.

Imhotep397 In fact, I would recommend not to paint the innards of the lens tube at all as you risk misaligning optical composition of the lens, leading to severe sharpness loss and unwanted distortions in the image.

You could invert the front glass on your MIR lens, thanks to that you will get the reverse globular mod, which can create an epic bokeh, and it takes only 1 minute to reverse it back to normal if needed. I would love to see the footage of that mod with your painted lens ;)

I just sent back my Helios because an internally painted lens is a NIGHTMARE for post color treatment and grading. If you want to introduce terrible color casting all the time, then go ahead and paint the lens. The best bet is just to get your colors naturally and shoot at true golden/magic hour. I've never understood the painted lenses, and never will. The bokeh and flare affects are awesome, but there is absolutely no reason to paint a lens in my opinion!

Tito Ferradans That is a good point! If you’re trying to nail for delivery with minimal post it could be a good modification. Oh I’m also going to be ordering some Oval bokeh aperture discs for the Mir 1 from you soon. I think I’m going to try the oval bokeh on it with the Anamorphot 40 1.33x on my Alexa and hope to get the desired look I’m hunting. Do you think the Mir 1 will pair well with the Anamorphot?
