Minimize facial pressure to MAXIMIZE ACCURACY

Спорт

You need this tip to MAXIMIZE ACCURACY. Facial pressure is an instant accuracy killer! in this video I talk with you about an easy technique that lets you minimize that pressure and keeps your arrow flying true. This is such an easy drill that you should make part of every arrow you send downrange.

Videos like this helps me more than anything! I would like to see a very in depth video on true resistance releases, and how to keep steady once you come to anchor when you are pulling back with your elbow. Also timing from anchor to shot. I feel like my shot starts to break down around the 4-6 second mark. I’m new to the resistance style release that’s why I’m asking! Thanks John really have learned a lot from your Chanel!!

I am so aware of pressure on the string, actively do my best to avoid it.

Worked and worked to get "bullet holes". I just couldn't get them to happen even though I knew my center-shot was dialed. backed off on my face pressure and Ta-Da - Bullet Holes!

I shoot a TRX8 @ 31" draw length. The string reaches the corner of my mouth and my ancor point feel good but i still find that i need to tip my head forward to touch my nose to the string. Should i add a twist or 2 and increase my DL by a tiny bit? Not sure

When I try four fletch, I get an annoying pressure of the fletch on my face/lip area. Arrow obviously is anchored in same spot. Should I just put the fletches further forward assuming I have a little room to play with before getting rest contact?

So when I anchor and have proper arrow fit in the “safe area” I have to turn my face to find my peep and have light string pressure. Just looking for advice on why I need to do to get my bow adjust so I’m not moving my head around. Thanks 🤙🏼

Without seeing in person or at least on video it's hard to say. Best thing to do is go to a shop, or a local shoot, and have someone who knows what to look for watch you draw and shoot. One thing I have run into is 30" draw on short axle to axle bows has me tipping my head forward to get nose to string. That makes me look "up" to see through the peep, not comfortable at all to me. The angle of the string just puts it farther out in front of my nose. I am told this is less of an issue with newer short axle bows because the cams are larger and designed with this in mind, to gives a better string angle. I haven't tried any bows shorter than 35" axle length in probably 20 years so that could very well be true now. I have never really had any issues hunting with a longer bow, so short vs long bows don't really matter to me. I pick by what is comfortable for me and has the features I like. In the past that's always been longer bows (around 36-37"). Thinking about upgrading this year, so who knows what I will like. My current bow is a '04 Hoyt Ultra Elite, so the tech is a bit dated, but it still shoots great for me. I'll have to find something that really impresses me to shell out $$$ for a new one.

Curious… Are you able to shoot the wrist strap and hand held with the same anchor and impact point at say 40 yards with this method?

Yeah….it just requires one to get the anchor point correct some the arrow is in the “pocket”…then settle into that new anchor point being the spot consistently

The facial pressure is equal for me with both. BUT- impact point with releases have many factors that affect how the loop comes off the release. If one jaw opens in and the other one out, two very different impacts

Why do I see ppl shoot at competition with the string pressed up against their nose that it leaves a mark

Yeah…I see that at times too at the 3D shoots here in Oregon…I always just think …how much more consistent accurate they would be if they didn’t have so much face pressure….its wrong but yeah I see that too

As long as they can repeat it consistently then there's no problem with it

Good in theory but it doesn’t work on everybody. If you have a narrow eye set it changes everything. John you don’t have a narrow eye set and that’s why it works for you.

He’s not saying it works for everybody, it’s good advice that he was given by a coach or mentor and he’s sharing it with us 👍🏼 it’s kind of a take it or leave it piece of advice. If it works for you great, if not then I’m sure you’ll do what works best for you. Enjoy 😁

Adjusting your nose to the string the little movement he did and cranking your head back or forward to meet the string are two different things.
