So, yeah, I bought a mini and the previous owner didn't say anything about the pwr steering pump having water in it. He did say it had a leak. So I am buying Dollar25 Tree pwr steering fluid and as the H2Opwr steering fluid mix leaks out, I replace with ONLY pwr steering fluid. So far, the water mixed fluid is leaking out slowly and my pwr steering still works great.

I have a 2015 Mini Cooper Countryman S All4 and I hear a very similar noise to this but only when the AC is on. This whirring comes on for a few seconds, then off for a few seconds, then repeat.

Can i use this for my 07’ R56

Just came back from Holliday and done a quick test to our 2008 mini and is exactly the same noise.

Thanks! I couldn’t get any other info as good as yours. My 2005 Mini R52 1.6L doesn’t have the noise, but even though everything is working well, I feel that my Mini it’s really more like a Semi-Power steering, cause it feels harder to steer than a regular SUV or a regular power steering car. I guess it has to do because it’s a sports car and it handles awesome on turns, etc. Give me some feed back! Thanks. Ralph.

Once I added the fluid in mine it was buttery smooth steering. Did you check the fluid level? Hopefully it's not a failed pump!

@@HotDayPleatherSeats It’s not noisy at all, the fluid is perfect, but before buying this Mini I’ve only had luxury SUV, Cadillacs, Town cars, etc. And as I did gave a Porsche in the past, my mini has a firmer tighter handling. I expected for my Mini to handle the same as the Porsche, which they seem to have a tad harder steering. What do you think?

Was there any change to the whining noise when you rev the engine?

no, it was entirely when I turned the wheel. but it's not unheard of to have that happen. Alternators and transmissions can have some whining sounds too. Hopefully it's just your power steering fluid is low. Good luck my friend! Let me know what you find out.
