Wow! I’ve been trying to figure out how to get consistent microfoam for latte art from my Rocket for probably two years now and have watched tons of videos on the topic but none one ever explained the “integration” step before. That one simple step was a total game changer for me. My first try using your method of short aeration followed by integration gave me nearly perfect foam. Problem solved! Thank you so much for a really great explainer video!

By far the best, clearest tutorial on milk steaming I have ever seen, and I have watched scores of videos. Bravo! Now I finally understand what I inadvertently do correctly some of the time, and screw up the rest of the time. 😏

My only complaint is that this wasn't made sooner. No one seemed to be able to really explain it that well (to me). It was always too brief. I've been skipping the last step because every other video is like "plunge it back in!" How much, howso? 😣 Then I just have too much foam! Been practicing for a month just trying to get the steaming part right.

The matter is when u keep the wand on surface for stretching & put it dipper dor texturing? Better to use temperature stuff to show the moment

My espresso machine has the steam arm on 90º degrees, what type of tips are you have? Normally I put my pitcher with a little angle to make milk to spin. Great video. Sorry my bad english

Hello, in your video you mentioned to keep the milk jug level to the ground and start frothing, however i see some baristas tilt their jug so its not level to the ground anymore, is this just personal preference or level to the ground is a must?

Good video. 2 comments: 1. Why brew into a shot glass only to pour it into the cup? Better to brew directly into the cup and not breakup the crema. 2. Why did you steam in one jug and then transfer to another to pour? You didn’t mention that at all in the video. Thx!

    1. John didn't have a scale on hand to check the volume of the shot otherwise he would have brewed directly into the cup. 2. That's a latte art technique. The milk is easier. to control in a larger vessel. Videos on that to come in the future.

@@SeattleCoffeeGear I know he was using a Rocket - however on my Ascaso DreamPID I would have a hard time pulling the shot in a cup - I always use shot glasses - so yes there are always good reasons to use shot glasses.

Hi! Would you steam this any differently if the milk was for a cappuccino? What I have learned, is that cappuccino has a bit more foam than a latte, so wouldn’t you have to introduce the air in to the milk for a bit longer if you were making a cappuccino?:)

Seattle Coffee Gear Ok! Beacuse in this, and in other videos I have seen, it seems like this is the way to do it for every coffedrink! But how long would you recommend introducing air to the milk for a cappuccino?

Hey John, Thanks for the great vids! I Just got a nice Espresso machine, and got the Breville Pro Grinder... Also got a calibrated Tamp, but almost every single time I pull my shot, my right drip spout on the portafilter lags behind. Or drips, while the left side is a nice smooth flow. And the right side often stops before the left. Any ideas on how to fix this? I pull about 1 3/4 - 2 oz shot, at about 26-28 seconds.

It would be a good idea to make sure you aren't tamping at an angle.

Might as well start farting into the milk as that will have more power than your steam

Idk how people steam so quickly, I have a CC1 and I inject air for a good 30sec at least to get a good amt of micro foam.

CC1 has a thermoblock, not a steam boiler. Not as high-power as a double boiler machine or heat exchanger like this. Shouldn't have a huge effect on the quality of your drinks though!
