I'd love to see you do a video based on the Bellman stove top milk steamer. Your first video helped me a bit but many people say it's hard to get it right with this steamer and I'm still having trouble.

That was a good point to flush the group head after steaming. I've been doing that, but haven't seen anyone else do it with these machines. Usually, they flush the group head at the start, before steaming and pulling the shot.

Great video, I'm sure a lot of people would have mentioned (I know I did) that most of us take about a 60 seconds or so per coffee and not the 20 seconds you used :p I have pretty much the same machine (the one with the grinder, think it's just a model up) and I love it. Although when you were pulling the shot it looked like it took a while and the pressure guage was right up there. Was that a throw away coffee for the video or did you set it up and it was meant to be done like that? Every time I make a coffee and either grind new beans to fine or tamp to hard and the machine builds to much pressure it tastes bitter and burnt. I find keeping it in the machines golden zone works really well for me. (Beans bought from local roasted)

Indeed - I use Ascaso Dream with PID - I think a better steaming machine than this one but my technique lacks your polish. My pitcher gets very hot more so than the milk. I will have to work on that. Thank you for your tutorial.

Would you say use a similar technique with the Breville bambino?

Thanks so much for this video. We've got a DeLonghi Magnifica S Plus machine at home, and the steam wand has a slider that switches from "Hot Milk" to "Cappucino". Any recommendations for which to use? I tend to use the Cappucino mode, as it produces more foam. But I find I just get like thin hot milk on the lower layer, and then an upper layer of just pure foam. There's no nice inbetween of good, textured milk. Any advice?

I should add I've never managed to get a whirlpool spin in my frothing jug... Very frustrating! It's like the steam isn't forceful enough, but it's pretty fast at heating up the milk

Thanks for doing this! I have a question about that milk pitcher transfer. You said that makes it easier to pour latte art. Is that because the larger pitcher is better for it, or is it something to do with the act of pouring the milk from one container before it goes into the drink that helps?

The larger vessel makes it easier. The transfer from one pitcher to another doesn't do anything.

Do you want the tip above or below the surface of the milk? I’ve practiced a Tonne and I just can’t get this right. Above the surface and I get all foam. Below the surface and I get no micro foam. I feel like I should have gotten a real espresso machine like the Gaggia classic pro or Sylvia. Not at all happy with the steamer on this machine. Not sure if the problem is the machine or my technique. I feel like I follow the instructions in the videos but it just doesn’t work.

Temperature wise it is obvious when the pitcher is heated enough, but what i don't get is how to we know we put in enough air inside the milk ? i often end up with a properly heated milk but slightly thicker texture that end up with more of a cappuccino than a latte art ready milk... and when i try to lessen the amount of air introduced inside my milk, i end up with much less textured milk (watery)... just don understand the amount air needed to be introduced inside the pitcher!

Aria Seraj I had the same problem. I always introduce air until the pitcher gets warm. That’s when I know it has had enough. Then I bury the wand slightly until it get too hot to touch. The key is integrating the foam by slightly burying the wand after introducing air.

I have the same machine, and I have the exact same issue with you. I just dont get the right microfoam to make latte art. I watched similar videos multiple times as well. I guess I have to keep trying....

lol, you know that after the steam is up to temperature, you can shut off the steam, place the wand in the pitcher, and turn it back on without losing pressure. Seems like jamming the pitcher under the wand at full steam is a good way to introduce big bubbles.

I'd say it's closer to 4-5 seconds. Some times when I'm not thinking mine will purge itself and i have to rewarm the coil :(
