This is STILL my favorite heavy weight knockout EVER. The way Tyson just breaks down his entire body piece by piece. Until all he had to do at the end was just touch him and he shattered like glass. Seeing him trying to get back up but falling over and over....Truly EPIC. Master piece.

This is peak Tyson here. 20 years old in a fully mature body but still with the psychological hunger that Cus had instilled in him. Still with his original team (Rooney and co., Jacobs). Still throwing ferocious 3-5 punch combinations, even if he has to get hit his once to do them. This is the Mike I would put against anyone in the history of boxing. In his memoirs he would say that once he became champ he started partying and not training, with King it all became about money and souless. If Cus had stayed alive I firmly believe that his team would have stayed in place, he would have stayed focused, committed and hungry, and he would have reigned for a good ten years, well into the '90s, just destroying guys for Cus.

Yet you don't understand a single thing about it?? Tyson fanboys aren't boxing fans, for the most part they're just deluded incels. He was smoked in his prime in 1990, there's no shortage of footage. Sadly there's also no shortage of excuses and lies from your camp. Also in his so called "prime" he looked absolutely awful against multiple opponents. Funny your guys never make shorts about those fights or comment on them hmmmmm 😏 Please find a new sport to ruin, have a nice day.
His poise and maturity at that age was amazing. It's so sad that Cuss couldn't have lasted another 5 years. Tyson probably would have had 25-30 title defenses, and retired undefeated. He just needed Cuss for a little while longer.

@@SilverBullet22250 The point is mike fought bums with Cus and after Cus he fought bums. He never beat a great fighter in their prime in his whole career. Cus would of changed what his competition? It never changed and all his big fights he lost. With xus he looked so great fighting D level competition with a losing record. People shouldn't bring up Cus because who he was fighting. Trainers after Cus were Rooney, Altlas, roach. Cus had one other champion in Floyd patterson. Dont try and make him the greatest trainer ever. If mike was so great he would still be great without him like most great boxers are still great no matter who their trainer was.

Agreed. A lot of people take 88' Tyson but I would pick the 86' version in route to fulfilling Cus's expectations as YHW champ of all time. He fought over a dozen times that year and was yet to be fully griped by Givens and Don King. Jacobs was alive and his team was running smoothly. He was staying with Steve Lott and training constantly.

Those who think Tyson was an all-time great always point to the early Tyson years, but look at his competition. C'mon!! Trevor Berbick was never anything more than a solid opponent. Neither was Pinklon Thomas or Bonecrusher Smith, Tyrell Biggs, Tony Tubbs, Michael Spinks, Frank Bruno, Carl Williams or any of his early opponents. Larry Holmes was an all-time great, but he was nearly 40-years old when Tyson fought him.
